About Penny
Growing Up
Penny was abandoned on the doorstep of an orphanage as a baby. She was teased and bullied for being different and dreamed of running away to join the circus. After crying herself to sleep one night after a day of particularly bad bullying, she awoke to find herself around a campfire in a strange place, The Cirque de Folie, the circus of her dreams. She was greeted by the Ringmaster and the other clowns and carnies there who welcomed her like family.
The Ringmaster was like the father she'd always wanted. He was kind and fun and made her laugh. He taught her everything about running a circus. Juggling, acrobatics, trapeze, tight rope walking, unicycling, sword swallowing, handling wild animals, and even breathing fire.
But most importantly he helped teach her what made her special. Her daydreaming was more than just an overactive imagination, but a superpower. He taught her how she could bring her imagination to life, creating real things with a mere thought, like magic. She practiced long and hard until she became an expert. Costumes, props, and other gags became trivial to conjure, even invisible ones. She became their very best show clown and took the stage name The Great Charade!
