Who am I? A better question to ask is, "Who was I?" I could tell you about a girl who lost her family when her world was destroyed. Or talk about how she came to a new world, where she had powers. I could regale you with stories of her heroism in the face of adversity. I could even tell you how she never found love, but searched for it. Yes, I could tell you all those things and more. But what you really want to hear about is, Who am I now?
When I came to this world, things were the same and different at the same time. When the people saw me it was not fear or awe or even desire that was in their eyes. It was ridicule and laughter. For you see, I couldn't possibly be Supergirl. Instead, they called me a comic book Cos-player. I never knew what that was until I came here. Someone who dresses like a comic character. Starborn comics, they call it. I was in a nightmare. All I knew was gone and all I cared about was a dream or a fantasy... was it even real? Was I just a girl with an imagination?
But then I knew I needed to be more. Who cared who I was, when a woman was falling from a cliff? They only cared that I could fly. Who cared what I was called, when a robot was terrorizing a village? They only cared that I had heat vision. Who cared that I wore a mini skirt and a crop top, when a building was collapsing? They only cared that I had the strength to hold it up. And who cared that I was a comic book look alike, when Doctor Destroyer threatened the city? No, they only cared that someone step up and help. That someone was me. I am from another world and now of two dimensions. I am of two suns. I am of Rao and Sol. I am Solargirl.
