MILLENNIUM CITY - A massive plot to brainwash the entire city of Millennium City was thwarted today by a group of enigmatic and mysterious super heroes known as Genesis League.

At a secret VIPER smuggling operation, Genesis League inspect the dozens of missiles that VIPER was intending to use to spread their "psychic" bombs all over the city. In addition, according to MCPD reports they also uncovered manufacturing materials and detonators at the facility. The evidence clearly fingered the blame for Sunday's bomb blast at the Java Bean coffee shop on the terrorist group known as VIPER. According to reports, an ex-VIPER employee by the name of Heat Screech (pictured here) was the key informant that led to the discovery of the bombs.

The evil plot to brainwash the entire city began on Sunday, when the Java Bean coffee shop was hit with a “psychic bomb” that brainwashed the patrons. Ironically, it originally looked like Genesis League was the perpetrator of the terrorist act. All circumstantial evidence pointed to them as the cause of the blast.

However, Genesis League then uncovered a VIPER smuggling operation that showed the components and parts made to use the bomb. In addition it had sufficient evidence to demonstrate that VIPER intended to launch more of these weapons. It was stock piling a set of missiles to distribute more bombs across the city.

“The evidence from the VIPER facility was overwhelming,” admitted Constable James Patterson of the MCPD. “Clearly, this was a VIPER plot all along."

Genesis League also uncovered there were other facilities with similar missiles ready to launch. To combat the imminent threat, the Free Press has learned that Genesis League began to investigate the “psychic bomb” technology. We have also learned through the same source, that the bomb apparently used Qu’laar technology.

Doctor Nelson Ernest, a leading expert on the Qu’laar “Hive Mind” techniques, admitted today he had received data from a Genesis League scientist known as “Lightning Bug”. His research, along with some clever analysis by an artificial life form called “EVE-2” has apparently found a weakness in the "psychic" bombs. The research proves that the transmission of a high-pitched audio frequency (undetectable by the human ear) can be used to revert the brainwashed victim back into full cognizance.

“The Qu’laar use complex high frequency tones to regulate their hives. The bomb created by VIPER was a crude reflection of that schema. So a single, simple high-pitched will reverse the brainwashing," Doctor Nelson Ernest confirmed.

Radio stations, televisions stations and other communication systems have been delivered this “cure” for these types of attacks, and have therefore rendered any future attack with these types of weapons largely useless.

“VIPER’s plans were foiled today, but a group of bright and enterprising heroes,” Mayor Calvin Biselle told the Millennium Free Press over the phone.

However, an anonymous source inside the MCPD questions what happened with this entire incident. The source reminded this reporter that the bomb did originally point to Genesis League being the perpetrators and it seemed awfully convenient that Genesis League was able to find a “cure” for the bombs so quickly and that the bomb had such an obvious weakness to begin with.

“Looks to me like Genesis League is just making themselves look heroic, to gain our overall trust. This whole charade is suspicious to me on several levels. I am watching them. They are up to something,” said the anonymous source inside the MCPD.
