Text Shadows and Blurs
A player asked me how I did my signature on this wiki. I told them to post the question on here but they don't want to sign up... oh well Mr. Riker, your loss but as I promised here is the long wall of text explaining it. Using Span style, "text-shadow" allows you to put a shadow of the current text behind it, but on top of the background. It is easy to use as a simple elegant shadowing effect. Adding a text-shadow allows you to have an outline around the text so that it blends in with your background, but is more visible. Check out these simple examples;
Shadows
- Code = <span style="font-size:2em; color:black; text-shadow: 2px 2px green;">Shadows</span>
Shadows
- Code = <span style="font-size:2em; color:black; text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px green,2px 2px 5px green;">Shadows</span>
- font-size:2em; Increases the size of the font.
- color:black; Is the font color.
- text-shadow: 2px 2px green; This created the simple shadow offset 2 pixels right and 2 pixels down and color green.
- text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px green,2px 2px 5px green; This created 2 shadows one on top the the other but blended out 5 pixels to the background.
Shadow Depth
- This shadow gives the 3D illusion on depth. Like the letters are floating above the page, and players ask why I play as magical creatures...
Motion Blur
- Code = <span style="display: block; text-align: Center; font-size:2em; color:black; text-shadow: -6px 0px 4px #555555,-12px 0px 4px #666666,-18px 0px 4px #777777,-24px 0px 4px #888888,-30px 0px 4px #999999,-36px 0px 4px #AAAAAA,-42px 0px 4px #BBBBBB;">Motion Blur</span>
- This text is centered using span.
- Then I added 7 shadows all travelling to left at -6 pixels per jump ending at -42 pixels.
- All the shadows are blended into the white background by 4 pixels.
- The shadows are shades of gray starting at the darkest #555555 to the lightest gray #BBBBBB
- Color codes can be words such as Blue or #0000FF the number system don't matter, there are web pages to get the color codes.
Cool Shadows
- This one I had some math help, my son helped me figure the curve. I used a gradient color from red to purple. The math of this curve is the x value is subtracted by 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.. The y value is subtracted the opposite by 14, 12, 10, etc.. In the end, it is up to the individual as to what pleases your eye the best. --Wendy Black 04:28, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
