Petrov and Anastassia Hicks were brought to America as part of Argent's super soldier program. Looking to escape the Russian Mafia that he worked so many years for and was now trying to escape, Petrov agreed to be experimented on by Argent scientists.

The experiments proved to not have positive effects on Petrov, only causing him to grow sick and weak. During their stay in America Anastassia became pregnant and gave birth to twins. With unfavorable results Petrov and his wife were deported back to Russia where they were soon killed. The twins were kept in America under Argent care when it was discovered they were developing mutant abilities. Trained from early childhood, day in and day out both knew nothing but what they were taught. It wasn't until around the age of 16, an attack on the stronghold they were kept in freed most of the Argent captives. Xavier was rescued by the heroes and given the freedom that he desired his young life. Separated during the attack, Xavier has not given up hope of finding his twin.
