Enter The Fox (I)The Wall Street Crash of 1929 hit socialite Lazarus Foxworthy hard. Losing much of his holdings he was forced to sell his New York home and seek gainful employment. Taking a position with a friend's law firm which was opening new offices, he soon found himself in Detroit. New to the city and always an adventurous sort, Lazarus would often walk around in the evening before returning to his modest accommodations. During these walks he saw much of the dark side of Detroit life, a life which he had been sheltered from with his society friends in New York. Crime was rife on the streets - both petty robbery and the more serious organized crime he had read about in the journals. It was on one of these evening strolls that Lazarus decided he had to do something to keep this criminal cancer from spreading. It was a Friday evening and as he turned the corner from one street to another, he spied a gang of roughs following a young woman along the opposite sidewalk. As she reached the next corner, she paused for a moment looking for something in her purse. Seeing their prey was distracted the gang increased their pace and soon surrounded the now frightened girl, who dropped her purse; it's contents scattering over the sidewalk into the gutter. Lazarus' blood pulsed in his ears as he made the split second decision and ran to the girls aid. Despite being severely outnumbered, Lazarus had the element of surprise on his side as well as formal boxing and wrestling training from his college days. After a few moments fracas he stood slightly bloodied but unbent over the bodies of two of the gang while the others ran off into the darkness to seek easier prey no doubt. Ripping strips of material from his now torn shirt he used them to bind the hands and feet of the two fallen attackers, and in turn bind them to railings that ran nearby. Then he turned to see how the girl was doing. A cursory inspection showed she was unhurt but very shaken by her near miss experience, and with a quavering voice she thanked Lazarus profusely for coming to her aid before anything untoward had occurred. He woke early the next day and as he shaved his bruised face he began to form an idea. He was able and willing to try and protect this city. He had no real ties, no family to worry about. But there was the law practice to consider. The bar committee may not look too kindly upon a lawyer acting as a vigilante in his spare time. So he must take steps to protect his identity if he were to continue down this path. Thus over the next week he procured various items which he would need to accomplish his task and on the Friday following his initial rescue of the girl he donned his disguise and made his way into the dark corners of the Detroit night.
The Fox (II) - 1960s - 'El Poco Zorro'When the Scarlet Shield (Reggie Morgan) captured mad scientist Dale Dekkar and his henchmen, he did not realise that the crazed genius overjoyed at his success with Morgan had already moved to the next stage of his super warrior scheme. While Morgan was still on the experiment table, Dekkar had dispatched several teams to capture and treat other preselected candidates with his new vitamin/steroid concoction. While most of these teams abandoned their mission upon hearing of Dekkar's subsequent incarceration, one did not. This team, the same one which had kidnapped Morgan, returned once more to Detroit with their eyes set upon another young athlete determined to complete their instructions and stay in their boss' good books should he escape the Police.Born in 1945 Antonio Alvarez was youngest son of single father Jorge Alvarez, a Mexican immigrant who following the death of his wife raised teen sons, Antonio and his older brother Ricardo while working long hours at Chrysler's assembly plants to support his family. With Jorge working, Ricardo and Antonio spent a lot of time on the streets, but the strong ethics and catholic upbringing instilled by their father kept them out of gangs and trouble. Ricardo was a fine singer and made some money for the family performing for dinner crowds in local restaurants. Meanwhile, Antonio was a dedicated athlete — a member of many school sports teams, he enjoyed boxing the most. As a teen he entered the Golden Gloves tournaments and won several; promoters were soon paying attention to the kid with the fast hands and ready smile and he was dubbed 'El Poco Zorro' (The Little Fox). Huntsman
Chadwick Holloway aka Huntsman was just another mobster albeit a somewhat ingenious one, until his first run in with The Fox. Left beaten, bloody and vengeful by the costumed crusader Holloway decided to fashion himself an equally colorful persona dedicated to removing The Fox from this world one way or another. Becoming Huntsman, Holloway set about amassing a criminal entourage and soon found himself in direct conflict with The Fox. After many defeats and near victories Huntsmen set a trap to lure the Fox into a disused chemical factory where a fateful battle ensued and as a result of trickery on Huntsman's part the trap was sprung and The Fox was trapped, frozen in a chemical bath. Transferring the body of the Fox to the basement of his brownstone, Huntsman continued his reign of terror until the outbreak of the Second World War. Deciding to sleep out the conflict in safety and expecting to awaken after 10 years, Huntsman froze himself in the same chemical mixture he had used on The Fox and had himself sealed in a vault in his base of operations. A mistake in his calculations meant he revived many decades later in the rebuilt Millennium City and cursing his mistake but always a practical man Holloway returned to his villainous ways only to find his old foe, The Fox has also returned to the land of the living. As a result of an imbalance in his cryogenic mixture, Holloway's cells mutated giving him the ability to generate ice and snow at will.
