Vector's powers first surfaced when she was still an infant. Her parents encouraged her to develop her power, and allowed her to use it freely.
Her peaceful life in Westside changed forever when she was 12. After coming home from the academy to find her house ransacked and her parents murdered. Vector started attacking the local thugs seeking answers. Who did it and why? Her questions were never truly answered even after 2 years.
After "playing along" with an attempted hostage situation, which ended with her knocking out her would be captors while the police were trying to negotiate a release of the hostages, Vector was taken into an orphanage. Having constantly been told not to use her powers because she was "scaring the other children", and called a "freak" by the other orphans, Vector decided she had had enough and ran away from the orphanage.
She spent the next 2 years living out on the streets again, watching the rise in heroes throughout Millennium City. Eventually acquiring materials and making her own costume and adopting the name Vector.
