"Earth shall join the Urseon Empire, and you cannot stop this, Father. You were nothing but a tool to Mother, the source of sperm she needed to conceive. Archmage or not. Hero or not. You are but a human.
And a human cannot stand against a god.

- Ursis to Robert Caliburn

Ursis the Exiled, or Troy Caliburn was a New God and the ruler of the Urseon Empire, one of the largest and most powerful empires in the Champions Universe consisting of thousands of warrior planets. Ursis was the illegitimate son of the Old God Altima and Archmage Robert Caliburn, the byproduct of Caliburn's rape in an attempt to satisfy Altima's growing rage for the Archmage's Celestial Powers.

Despite being a demigod, Ursis denounced his human side. During Altima's pregnancy, the Old God had conceived in her "human" form, causing her genetic material to make up the vast majority of the New God's chromosomal structure, and making Ursis a near full-blooded deity, as evidenced by his immortality and immense power. As such, Ursis held little to no regard for his father, even considering Caliburn as a mere "source of sperm". Having been abandoned by his mother, and denouncing his father, Ursis declared himself to be a God of Exile, seeking strength without the help of either family lines and rising in power with his bare hands.

Ursis was ultimately slain by the galactic bounty hunter Atarvadaan after the latter found a way to bypass the former's immortality by using his mother's authoritative True Decay against himself, neutralizing the New God's trump card. Despite having thousands of years of combat experience, Ursis was outmatched by the Brutalizer, and was killed in one-on-one combat. Atarvadaan later slaughtered the entirety of the Urseon Empire, killing nearly everyone and subjugating the survivors to join the Rav'ine Empire. Through this act, Atarvadaan indirectly saved Earth from subjugation, but would later receive orders from the Rav'ine Empire to look into preparing the planet for integration for the future.

Biography

Birth and Caliburn's Vow

Ursis was the bastard son of Robert Caliburn and Altima, making him half Old God and half human of Archmage status. When the child was born, Altima tested for Ursis' immortality by dropping the boy into a boiling pit of feral leviathans. When Ursis' disemboweled body emerged from the corpses of the leviathans and began to regenerate, the Old God was pleased and sent the boy to Vibora Bay to torment her lover. A death shadow delivered the baby Ursis to the doorstep of Doctor Ka's Brownstone, where Doctor Ka took the child in. However, when Caliburn recognized the child's eyes to be the same as Altima's, the Archmage attempted to kill the child. Despite Ka's intervention, a traumatized Robert Caliburn managed to incinerate Ursis with the Flame Gem. However, the child, being immortal, instantly regenerated from the burns. Realizing what he had done, a grief-stricken Caliburn vowed to raise Ursis to be a human despite having been revealed to be a nearly full blooded New God, giving the boy the name Troy Caliburn, after his commanding officer Troy Baker during the Vietnam War.

A remorseful Caliburn tearfully vows to raise his demigod son to be a human.

Adolescence

When Troy grew to the age of two, to Caliburn's shock, the boy had matured to that of a teenager in both physical appearance but also mentally. Though recognizing the additional challenge of raising a New God as a son, Caliburn refused to abandon his child, by doing his best to raise him as a human over a god. It would be during this time that Troy began questioning his abilities, realizing that the things he could do were not just beyond that of the human beings his father had once taught him but were also beyond supers as well. Though Robert would ban Troy from tapping into his powers, the demigod would routinely investigate his powers in secret, doing research behind his father's back.

Learning Emotions

During his senior year in high school, Troy routinely found himself isolated and segregated from his peers due to being unable to relate to their ability to feel human emotions. As Troy was born with the ability to instantly regenerate from harmful effects on his body, the aftereffect it had was that Troy would be immune to emotional and psychological damage. However, this all changed when Troy met a girl in his class named Alicia Simmons, who was the only person to talk to him. The more time Troy spent with Alicia, the more Troy began to experience human emotion, with his first emotion being love. Unfortunately, these emotions were not reciprocated, with Alicia only expecting a platonic relationship between the two, and with this realization, Alicia stopped speaking to Troy altogether, causing the demigod to experience his second emotion: heartbreak. Amidst these circumstances, Troy continued to be segregated from his classmates due to his inability to properly socialize as no one approached him. It would be at this time that intrusive thoughts began to invade Troy's mind; the first, being the possibility that Troy could use his powers to harm the people who hurt him.

Young Adult Years

By the time Troy had graduated high school, his appearance had taken the form of a young adult in his mid-twenties. Becoming increasingly disturbed by the routine nightmares he experienced of Altima, but having no recollection of his biological mother, Troy asked his father about the Old God but was met with a violent traumatic attack by the Archmage. After being banished from the Brownstone, Dr. Ka suggested Troy consider going to the newly reformed Vibora Bay church, which had now been freed from the influence of Therakiel, courtesy of his father and the superheroes of Millennium City. There, Troy befriended the pastor's daughter, Serah Ford, who welcomed Troy warmly. Hesitant at first due to his last encounter with Alicia, Troy reluctantly allowed Serah to befriend him. However, Troy would soon fall for Serah as well. Despite these feelings, Troy became determined to suppress the feelings so as to keep another friendship from being ruined.

Troy spent several months under the tutelage of Doctor Ka, learning about the Egyptian gods. Though Ka was reluctant, Troy insisted that he had a right to choose what he wanted to learn. As Troy continued to study Ka's lineage and its connection with Osiris, the demigod began to draw parallels between Osiris' abilities and his own, deducing that the powers he had, though similar to his father's seemed to have potential that were similar if not beyond that of a godly scale. Angered that his father was keeping secrets from him, Troy confronted Robert, demanding his father provide him with information on his mother. The two entered a heated argument, which escalated to a full-blown fight between the two mages. As Troy drew upon Altima's power, Caliburn became increasingly unhinged, memories from the night the Old God had raped him returning to his mind in a violent torrent, causing the Archmage to unleash his full power on his son in a panicked frenzy. Though sustaining great injuries, Troy inevitably regenerated from them, however due to the scale of these injuries, memories of the demigod's childhood returned, including the abuse Troy had suffered from Altima to prove his immortality. Horrified at the revelation, Troy fled from the Brownstone before Caliburn could apologize to his son.

Appearance

A "teenaged" Ursis, going by the name "Troy Caliburn"

Throughout Ursis' youth, the New God had an appearance very similar to his father, however his hair took on a sandy tint. Ursis took on his father in appearance, with sharp features, but slightly more gaunt facial qualities, giving the impression that he had not eaten for days. Additionally, Ursis inherited his mother's glowing eyes, but with a blue tint rather than Altima's green. According to Caliburn, Ursis had his mother's eyes, and though the resemblance made him greatly distressed, the Archmage continued to love his son. As Ursis continued to grow up, his body matured at a rapid pace, to the point where by the time the New God had reached four years old, his appearance and maturity were akin to a young adult. Like his father, Ursis wore trench coats and frequently wore a white turtleneck underneath. Ursis possessed a magic aura very similar to his mother's, in the form of a dark wispy energy.

During the duration of his development in the Timeless Expanse, Ursis' outfit underwent numerous changes that reflected the New God's progression in power. With each monster slain and world conquered, Ursis would take elements of his enemies and fashion gear out of them, constantly improving his arsenal which was reflected in his equipment. Additionally, Ursis would modify his gear accordingly after every defeat, allowing his equipment to evolve alongside the New God.

By the time Ursis returned from the Timeless Expanse, the demigod's appearance had changed drastically. No traces of his human heritage remained, revealing a heavily armored warrior. Ursis had grown to a shocking 21 feet tall and possessed a titanic build which reflected his immense strength. On his back was a glowing blue greatsword, which channeled his Archmagic.
