Teshun Strife, also known as Tsukuyomi of Emiyo was the familiar of magus Emiyo Asaka, until his ultimate sacrifice to save his master's original mage team against Amaterasu. Born Shun Maio, the familiar lived a normal life to a normal family until a fated encounter with a factory explosion that destroyed his body. In an attempt to take over Shun's body, which was left extremely vulnerable to possession, the abyssal beast Oni emerged from the shadows to merge with the boy, however was half successful as a chain reaction explosion destroyed Oni's consciousness. Reborn as an Abyssal Recombinant, or a failed possession product, Shun gained enormous umbral powers akin to Oni, while keeping his humanity.

Growing out his hair, and changing his wardrobe upon discovering his new overwhelming powers, Shun changed his name to Teshun "The Tsukuyomi" Strife, in an act to start life anew as a "super cool hero of the night". However, due to his powers being "too powerful", Teshun became overwhelmed with boredom, and lacked the will to do anything with his life, leading to him leading a lifestyle as a shut in NEET.

At some point, Teshun discovered his ability of Shadow Manifest, in which he began making counterfeit dollar bills to purchase assorted snacks in the local convenience store. On his way to purchase the newest "Barbeque Hamburger Limited Edition Potato Chip", Teshun ran into mage battle maiden Emiyo Asaka, who was being pursued by The Berserker, a contracted brute that had killed three of her team members and enslaved two. However, Teshun paid her no attention until the shockwaves of The Berserker's attacks knocked his chips to the ground, spoiling them. The resultant shock caused Teshun to angrily engage The Berserker, killing it with overwhelming force, much to Emiyo's bewilderment.

Teshun offered to become Emiyo's sidekick, becoming infatuated with her, but was instead turned into her familiar due to Emiyo witnessing Teshun's enormous power. However, due to Teshun's laziness to do his job properly, Emiyo has since regretted making the contract, frequently calling her familiar Tsukuyomi the Worthless.

It was revealed that Tsukuyomi's spirit and essence lived on in the subconscious of a mercenary, who uses Teshun's powers to aid in his field of work. However, Teshun's enormous power was too much for his body to withstand, limiting his usage to once every three days.

Appearance

As Shun Maio

Shun possessed a scrawny build, with a pale face, and long black hair that reached his chin and his back similar to a mullet. A running gag during his high school days was that Shun was often mistaken as a girl from behind. Shun wore large eyeglasses and was often self conscious with the size of his eyes, believing them to be too small. In an attempt to grow out his hair to cover them, Shun often combined his hair to the front of his face.

Shun refused to wear anything but black, as he was obsessed with the comic book superhero Tsuku, who's powers were black electricity. Frequently wearing black hoodies and black track pants, many of his peers believed him to be an "emo".

As Teshun "The Tsukuyomi" Strife

After discovering that the extent of his powers were largely based on how well his body could withstand the darkness flowing through it, Shun underwent physical strength training, and gained a powerfully built physique. Changing his name to Teshun Strife, and adopting the alias of Tsuyukomi, Teshun often wore a dark blue fur coat, the fur around his collar a light beige. He also wore a pair of black jeans, and a black tank top, which exposed his musculature (which was intentional to show off the results of his training to Emiyo).

In addition to this, Teshun frequently wore a white mask that covered his face, as, although being capable of shape shifting, Teshun's default appearance was still very similar to his old appearance as Shun Maio. In comparing his face to his body, Teshun became self conscious that he was "not good looking enough", and resorted to growing out his hair and covering his face to give him an appearance that would "resonate with the ladies".

Powers

Immense Speed and Agility: Immediately obvious from those who witness Teshun's fights, is his overwhelming speed and ability to evade attacks. During his fight against The Berserker, Teshun easily evaded the brute's strikes, outpacing him despite the brute being a speed type. Teshun was able to move fast enough to deflect the Berserker's rage mode strikes, to the point where even Emiyo was unable to follow with her eagle eyes spell. It is the theorized that this may be due to Teshun's body being essentially umbral matter, a fluid capable of travelling at the same speed of light. However, it is also shown that Teshun is able to further amplify his speed, with his umbral elemental control.

Immense Strength and Durability: When Teshun intercepted The Berserker and stopped its finishing move against Emiyo, he was able to deflect the brute's sword with one hand, a feat that shocked the mage, who was unable to deflect the Berserker's strikes even with an arcane barrier. In addition to this, Teshun's punches were able to buckle the Berserker's armour, and one strike was enough to send the brute flying several yards into a building.

Umbral Elemental Control: Teshun is directly connected to The Abyss, which possesses the umbral counterparts of the four elements. Because of this, Teshun is able to summon and manipulate these "umbral elements" to his liking. After around one year, Teshun has used three of the four elements.

  • Umbral Flames: Teshun can generate these flames that provide devastating burning effects. Teshun typically uses this power in the form of wide and large storms, overwhelming his enemy through the sheer intensity of the flames.
    • Umbral Electricity: Teshun uses this electrical variant to boost his physical parameters
  • Umbral Wind: Teshun generates violent windstorms.
  • Umbral Matter: Teshun's most frequently used element. By calling upon the Abyss, Teshun is able to both manipulate his body and generate large amounts of umbral matter to form a gargantuan variety of constructs, from tendrils to shields, to weapons.
    • Umbral Hunting Game: Teshun is able to summon a horde of hunting monsters from the Abyss, which emerge from his body and follow his command. These monsters range from umbral wolves, to monsters as big as umbral dragons.

Weaknesses

Light: Due to being an umbral type, large amounts of light can dissipate his powers and even his own body. This was proven a fact when Teshun engaged Amaterasu, who defeated the Recombinant with a single beam of light energy. Teshun ultimately sacrificed his life for Emiyo by using the last of his powers to counteract Amaterasu's light, nullifying it and draining both beings into nothingness.

Limited Life: Despite his enormous power and seemingly unstoppable powers, the continued usage of Teshun's powers has caused a massive toll on his human consciousness. The more he uses his powers, the more his consciousness becomes consumed by the Abyss. As his powers were only given to him from an attempted possession by Oni, every time Teshun uses his powers, the creatures of the Abyss make progress in entering his body and taking a part of his humanity away.

Near the end of Emiyo's one sided battle against Amaterasu, Teshun had already used so much of his powers that he was unable to recognize his master, until she kissed him and his memories returned.
