History
Empire
“You wish to know of my history? Very well, then. I shall enlighten you, so that you may understand why your only option is to swear fealty to me.”
“I hail from what your science laughably calls an ‘alternate Earth’; however, if any world is the ‘alternate’, it is this one, not my beloved Earth-Omega. At any rate, it was clear from even an early age that I was above the common man of that world. As I grew, it became apparent to me that my world was a corrupt, decaying one, doomed to extinction unless something was done to avert this seemingly inevitable course. I took it upon myself to save my world from its demise.”
“Using my superior intellect, I was able to construct a number of fantastic technological devices superior to any seen on that world before. Assembling an army of those who shared my vision, I armed them with the technology that I had developed. And then, form those humble beginnings, we embarked on a war of liberation, one that swept the globe clean of the corrupt and decadent powers that had held it in thrall for so long. Instead, we freed the people bringing them into a glorious new age of peace and prosperity for all.”
“After five long, hard years of toil, I was triumphant. The world was united under my banner, a single, global empire dedicated to the betterment of all humanity. We eliminated poverty and hunger, making war and suffering and oppression a thing of the past. Under my benevolent hand, my world grew into a veritable paradise, a veritable new garden of Eden.”
Heir to the Empire
“However, that Eden also had its serpent. A small group of my once-loyal followers betrayed my dream, seeking power for themselves rather then accepting my rule. Knowing full well that they could not hope to defeat me openly, they instead resorted to vile trickery to defeat me. Using my beloved daughter against me, they lured me into a trap; as they could not defeat me, they instead used a dimensional projector – an incomplete, experimental device that I had developed myself – to tear me from my native world and instead hurl me into this one.”
“I quickly assessed my situation and realised what had happened. Unfortunately, I found that this blighted planet that I had been banished to was one even further gone then the one I had left. My research discovered the reason; this world had not been blessed with a counterpart to myself and, as such, had never received the blessings that I had bestowed upon my homeworld. Unfortunately, it also meant that I was not able to find an intellectual counterpart that would aid me in returning to my home.”
“Regardless, I did not give into despair as a lesser man would. Instead, I devoted myself to building a new dimensional projector, one that would return me to my homeworld. Unfortunately, the primitive technology of this world was not up to the task; furthermore, its authorities refused to recognise my natural superiority and aid me in my quest. Instead, I was labelled as a ‘supervillain’, painted as an agent of evil, regardless of how just my cause was.”
“Nonetheless, I chose to continue on my path. I assembled an army which, while inferior to the one that I had used in past, I felt would provide me with the manpower that I needed to complete my great work. Unfortunately, there were those who felt otherwise and endeavoured to stop me. While yes, the activation of my dimensional rift generator would have devastated the area round it, which included much of one of your world’s major metropolises, it would have been a small sacrifice; the deaths of thousands would have allowed me to return to my rightful home.”
“Unfortunately, those forces arrayed against me clashed with my own armies and, for the first time ever, I admit that I tasted the bitterness of defeat. My minions had failed me, leaving me unable to complete my great work. My generator was destroyed and my work undone; I was forced to flee like a common criminal”
Dark Empire
“Despite this, I felt that I should continue my work, with this defeat serving only to spur me on. I became only more eager to return to my homeworld and reclaim my righteous place as its ruler. However, as I came to realise that the science of this world was not up to par, I had begun to accept that the assembly of a new Dimensional Projector may not be an option. Instead, I had begun to consider another course of action, one that would yield a similarly favourable result.”
“If I could not return to my own world to rule it, then I should instead take control of this one and save it from itself. I had no desire to be imprisoned in a world that is certainly doomed; instead, I vowed to elevate this one in its stead, transforming it into a duplicate of the paradise that I once enjoyed myself.”
“Towards, this end, I began work on a plan, one who’s greatness would only be rivalled by my original liberation of my homeworld. While I was forced to lower myself to mere robbery as a part of this plan, I knew that the goals would justify such unsavoury steps, as I was working for the good of all mankind. Using all the skills that I possessed as well as the materials that I had acquired, I created a fortress in the reaches of Canada that would be my sanctum as I planned my next move.”
“A grand plan unfolded within my mind, one the likes of which could not be dreamt of by lesser men. However, I knew that as masterful as it was, it could not be accomplished without two things. The first was further resources, ones that I was able to acquire. However, the second was far more important; it would require personnel to aid in its execution; however, these had to be more then mere men, these had to be individuals of the most upstanding capability.”
“It was to address this need that assembled a group of loyal followers who would aid me in this goal. Drawn from diverse backgrounds, they all recognised my superiority and the righteousness of my cause, and chose to swear fealty to me, just as you should. Pooling their talents and intellects under my lead, they agreed to work with me in order to create the better future that I felt this planet so rightfully deserved.”
Shadows of the Empire
“Having assembled my army, I then went to work devising a way to force your pitiful world to recognise my superiority. As regrettable was it was, I felt that the only way that I could forge order form the chaos of this world was to unmake what structure there was and remake it anew in my own image. I knew that such steps would result in suffering and loss, but I felt that such dire steps were needed.”
“To this end, I dispatched my loyal followers across the globe to gather materials for me, ones that would be used to construct the weapons that I needed to enact my plan. While my minions served me well, I noticed that an unusually high number of them met with stiff superhuman resistance, as if there were enemy forces awaiting them, tipped off to their intended goals. I began to suspect that there was a traitor amongst my ranks, one that did not share my vision.”
“While I had enough materials to make my plan viable, I still knew that I had other matters to deal with. I had to exorcise the malignant tumour that had grown within the Supremacy, tear it out before it could consume the host body and imperil my goals. While my loyal bodyguard reassured me that the source of this treachery was not the one that I had expected, it still left the unresolved question of who it was who had betrayed me.”
“One of my most loyal followers, a Technopath, informed me that there were no technological transmissions coming out of my sanctum; thus, she assured me, the traitor had to be using psionic or arcane means to transmit to their allies. She personally pledged to seek out and destroy the source of this treachery, leaving me free to pursue my goals. Confident in her abilities, I returned to my great work, knowing that it was only a matter of time before Mankind acknowledged me as their master.”
“Finally, the day came for me to unleash my master plan. Its sophistication was incredible, as was its audacity. Using specially placed sonic bombs, I would set off a cataclysmic chain of earthquakes across the pacific Ring of Fire, causing unimaginable devastation. In the aftermath, the Supremacy would be there to pick up the pieces, to remake the worlds anew under my rule.”
Empire’s End
“However, an unexpected even saw my plan imperilled. An explosion within my fortress saw my defences temporarily disabled, allowing a group of so-called heroes to enter it at the vital point before I could act. They, working alongside the traitor form within my ranks, fought their way to the inner sanctum, intent on stopping me from enacting my masterstroke.”
“However, I was not concerned. My loyal followers stood against them, and I was confident that they would not fail. After all, they not only had the advantage of numbers, but also knew that they were fighting for a good cause. However, I had not anticipated their baser instincts getting the better of them. As they fell in battle, those that remained succumbed to cowardice, fleeing rather then fighting to the end as one would expect.”
Standing alone, I enacted my masterstroke, only to find that the traitor within my ranks had succeeded in sabotaging it; rather then the glorious birth of a new world, there was only a crushing silence. In that moment, I momentarily lost myself, my control and serenity being swept aside by the rage and hatred that these fools had stoked within me. As they had chosen to throw away this world’s only chance at salvation, I chose to teach them the error of their ways.”
“Our clash was epic; however, in the end, their superior numbers proved to be the equal of my superior abilities. I chose to retreat, so that I could better serve the world another day rather then be captured and subjected to your barbaric justice system. However, there was one other matter I was not prepared for; my teleport was intercepted by the vile criminal who you know as Krimzon; in the absence of my bodyguard, she was able to ambush me and disable my armour, resulting in my capture.” (Lies, damn lies and secret origins)
“Despite that, my will remains my own. Know this; I will escape the confines of your contemptible prison. Nothing shall stop me from fulfilling my mission, to bring enlightenment to your world.”
-Transcript of PRIMUS interview with Supremeus
Krimzon Empire
(addendum: The following is transcribed from information was provided by the vigilante Krimzon; the veracity of this information is unclear)
“Right, let’s set the record straight on a few things about Supremeus. What he’s told you is a half-truth; a mixture of facts that he has edited and arranged to paint himself in the best possible light. However, he’s made a number of key omissions which I think you should know about.”
“The basic truth is there. Yes, he is from another Earth, and yes, he does rule it. However, there’s a lot more to it then it would seem. Supremeus is not his world’s Destroyer as he would have you think; he’s more like its Muerte then anything else. He was a mid-league villain, one of only middling capability at best. However, he had outside help. Supremeus’ Earth Prime (or whatever he calls it) was discovered by Istvatha V'Han who decided to subvert the world rather then conquer it outright. Why? Who can say. When you’re the empress of a billion dimensions, you do what you want.”
“It was to that effect that she employed Supremeus. She gave him his suit of armour, as well as resources, weapons and other tech. This in turn allowed him to build his army and conquer his world. He never revealed the truth about his origins to anyone, though. Instead, he ended up with a planet under his heel, controlled by a legion of super-powered thugs. And yeah, don’t believe a word he says about it being a utopia or such; it was a ruthless, iron-handed dictatorship; I should know, I was born and raised in one.”
“The thing is, the dimensional projector that bought him here was one of the devices V’Han gave to him. Why? No idea, but I have my theories. That was what lead to Supremeus’ downfall; one of his lackeys discovered the truth behind what was going on, how their great leader was actually a pawn of an alien overlord. Knowing they couldn’t defeat him, the used the projector to simply get rid of him and make him someone else’s problem. How nice of them.”
“Oh, and his beloved morality pet daughter? She was in on the plot. She was the one who lured him into the trap. And he knows this. But I think he refuses to admit it, even to himself.”
“Supremeus knows me from that time; I was there when he was exiled, and I discovered the truth behind his past. That’s why he’s afraid of me, and why he went to such steps as hiring that gun-toting furball to off me. He knows I can ruin him, and he wants to make sure I don’t get the chance.”
Powers/Abilities
By all accounts, Supremeus wears a suit of sophisticated power armour that is one of the most powerful in the world. While its armour is nearly impenetrable to attack, the suit provides Supremeus with full life support, enabling him to survive indefinitely inside it. Additionally, it protects him in even the most extreme of environments; he claims that the suit could take him into the depths of the oceans or even into space if needs be.
The suit itself greatly enhances his strength and gives him a number of other abilities. It features numerous, built-in energy weapons of incredibly sophisticated and lethal design. The weapons are reconfigurable to allow them to adapt to different circumstances and be adjusted for maximum effect against specific targets. The full power of his weapons is unclear, but he has been observed to destroy tanks and armoured vehicles with a single blast. Furthermore, the suit is equipped with a vast array of sensory systems.
Finally, the suit is able to fly using integral micro-jets; its maximum speed and range is unknown. It is also able to teleport, but the maximum range of the system is unclear. Supremeus does not use this ability often, despite the tremendous tactical advantage that it would give, which does suggest that its use is limited or very draining on the suit’s power reserves.
Supremus possesses a wide array of skills and knowledge of numerous scientific disciplines, and clearly is a genius intellect. However, as noted, he seems to be rather vague as to the exact design and construction of his suit and other devices attributed to him. The suit itself cannot be fully removed; it can be stripped down to an inner armoured bodysuit layer that contains much of its integral circuitry and systems, but this seems to be grafted to Supremeus’ own body, or otherwise secured in some as yet unknown way.
Personality
Supremus is, at heart, something of a megalomaniac driven by his desire to rule and control the world. He genuinely sees himself as being above the rest of humanity and, as such, the only person fit to lead. While he speaks rhetoric of building a better world, he has never once considered any other option to his ruling it. Similarly, he sees himself as being above petty concerns of good and evil – he is always right, regardless.
While initially driven by his desire to return to his homeworld, it appears that he has become more and more driven towards taking over this one. Whether he has made this decision is because he has decided that he is unable to return to his home or if it is for some other reason remains unclear, however. To this end, he has worked to create his own powerbase on this world, building an army of those whose loyalty to his cause is assured or, at the very least, well bought.
Even then, he tends to elevate himself above all others, seeing himself as being a “superior being”, one more powerful than any other. He tends to disregard any others as being inferiors, fit only to serve him. Even his own loyal followers are seen as little more than expendable fodder, fit only to serve and die for him. Likewise, he readily underestimates any hero that dares to face him as being “unworthy” and no threat to him.
While he claims that Earth’s technology is lacking compared to his homeworld’s as the main reason why he has not been able to construct a new dimensional projector, there does appear to be a number of inconsistencies in his claims. While his battlesuit is clearly of advanced design, he has never been seen to build anything that comes close to its levels of sophistication. Much of his technology, while it is cutting edge, is no more advanced then that used by other super-powered criminals or agencies.
Similarly, he does seem to be somewhat vague with regards to details of his homeworld and his past; while he will readily talk at length about the greatness of his power and his rule, he is noticeably vague about his rise to power and how he actually conquered the world. He will, however, gladly talk about his beloved daughter who he states as being one of his key motivations- he wanted to create a better world for her.
However, he has one weakness; the vigilante known as Krimzon seems to know the full truth about his past; both the source of his powers and the truth of his homeworld. As such, he sees her as being a threat above all else, and aims to eliminate her.
Appearance
Supremeus has never been seen outside of his battlesuit; some suspect that he may not be able to leave it, or that he may be some sort of robot. Regardless, his suit is a very imposing sight. Towering a little over two meters tall, its heavy frame gives it a solid, intimidating look. Its surfaces are covered with intricate, shiny armour with its weapons systems largely concealed. The helmet completely covers Supremeus’ face, giving no clue as to his identity. The suit itself is largely gold and bronze, with a darker trim and a long, midnight blue cape.
