Every tale deserves a proper beginning. Yes, but where to start with this story? Perhaps we should start with the classic...

File:SeniPageStyleStart.png
There lived a man, named Al-Zengi, who specialized in selling eastern incense and perfumes. Upon one day, while tending his stall, an old man came across him and presented him with an odd flask. It was carved of onyx, with gold trimmed around decoratively. The very top was corked with the same onyx and a beautiful, purple tourmaline resting as it's crown. He was deeply interested in the flask, and inquired a great deal from the old man about it. Bemused, the old man told the merchant that he would be willing to part with it. All he ask in return was that the merchant heed his words of warning. "This flask is an Urn," he warned "but, it is not your typical urn. Inside is buried a long and forgotten being, lost to our civilization. Do not wake it until you are certain you can control that which is laid to rest inside."

The warning was cryptic, at best. Still, the merchant took the flask. For months it would lay over his dresser, and he would fall asleep staring at it until his eyes could no longer stay open. Months would pass, dreaming of the horror or blessing that could be inside that black vase. Unable to contain his curiosity, Al-Zengi took the flask to an old wise man who frequently visited his stall for burial incense. He and the scholar spent the next few weeks reading between scribes and scrolls to answer the haunting question that has been keeping Al-Zengi awake at nights; What exactly is inside this flask. When all hope had nearly been lost, early one morning the wise man came to his home with a revelation. Packed under his arm, in a shawl were several very old, dusty looking stone tablets.

The scholor spent much of the morning translating the tomes for Al-Zengi. What they came up with was that the Onyx flask contained something of an ancient race that once walked the earth before man. This race, known as the Djinn, were made by the gods and each given a soul. But, the gods grew tired of the hubris that perverted the Djinn. They created a new plane, devoted only to these Djinn, and called it the Quaran. Then they commanded the Angels of heaven to bind every last Djinn to the Quaran. Then, the Gods created Man, and tasked him with the duties of tending the Earth. The Djinn, angered by their exile, made a pact with the Netherworld. If the Netherwold could bring them back to the Mortal plane, they would steal the souls of men for the Netherworld to feast on. The seven greater lords of the Netherworld, together with the Quaran Council managed to forge an agreement. The Lords crafted devices that would act as portals between the Quaran and Mortal Planes. The Quarans had nearly agreed to the contract, not fully aware of the Nether Lords cleverness. Inside that contract, the Lords exclaimed that any Djinn who traveled between the planes would have to accept the shackles of a slave, forever binding them to the being that summons them. Enraged, the Djinn amended that only a human was allowed to bind the Djinn, knowing fully well that the demons would only use the Djinn for their own purposes. Eventually both sides signed to the terms; The Nether Lords understanding that the souls of men would be sufficient enough, and the Djinn understanding that this was their only way in to the world they once owned.

Thus, the riddle of the mysterious flask was answered. Inside lay a Djinn, a powerful being that would be used to trap a mans soul forever inside the Netherworld. Al-Zengi would take the flask home and never think upon it again...

Or so he told himself. The power of Djinn was far greater than he would realize. By simply possessing the flask, he was in danger of the Djinns influence. The dreams he was having before weren't simply his curiosity, as it would turn out. And each night, there-after, the visions became more and more powerful. He would dream of fortunes, command armies, and control time in his dreams. Every night, the dreams seemingly becoming more lucid and every dream always having one thing in common. He was always accompanied by a beautiful woman. One night, in his sleep, his dream began as if nothing had changed. He woke up at night in the same bed he had always awoken in. Although, this time the beautiful woman sat over him, bare. He marveled at her sight, enjoying the warmth of her skin for what seemed like hours. When the sun rose, she leaned in to him and whispered, "I am real. And I bring you everything you could possibly imagine. Riches... Power... Me... All you have to do is open my prison. Wake up, and free me Al-Zengi."

And suddenly, Al-Zengi rose from his sleep. But the Sun had not risen yet. It was still the darkest of night. He looked at the onyx flask resting over the dresser with her voice repeating in his head, "Wake up, and free me..." over and over. Al-Zengi got up from his bed. As he swept the sleep from his eyes he walked over to the dresser and placed both hands on the flask. The voice only getting louder as his grip tightened. Finally~ with his breath held and eyes sealed shut, Al-Zengi grabbed the flask by it's tourmaline gemstone and pulled the seal off from it's base...

The slowly burning wicks inside his room quickly spun uncontrollably. The fires on each danced in a gust of supernatural wind for a moment before every light, in unison, blew out. Smoke began to blanket the inside of his room, a black plume bellowing from the flask. Al-Zengi began to choke on the fumes, coughing and wheezing. He rushed over to the nearest window and bashed the wooden screen from it's lock.

File:SeniRaceSubhead.pngThe Si'lat

As the black fog quickly escaped, he looked back to the dresser, where he had left the flask. As promised, standing next to the dresser in a dark, black and golden garb, stood the woman from his dreams. She just stood there, staring at him with a wide grin baring two prolonged fangs. At that moment, Al-Zengi knew what he had just done was a terrible mistake. Sensing his regret, the Djinn slowly came to him, and with a kiss she ensured him that she would not harm the frightened man. She was to be considered a gift. All he needed to do was ask, and anything Al-Zengi wished would come to be. Al-Zengi told the Djinn that he would need time to think. So much had just happened in the course of one night, and he was exhausted. As the room cleared of all the fumes, he laid back down on his bed. Although, this time he had the company of a woman he felt he had known for many months before. The two of them fell asleep, the Djinn clutching him like a child until the morning rose.

Midday had almost arrived before Al-Zengi managed to get out of bed. As he did so, he noticed a warm breakfast already waiting for him. The room was cleaned and surprisingly far more organized than he could have achieved by himself. As he indulged himself on the breakfast that laid before him, the Djinn arose next to him. Amazed, he asked if she had done all this while he was sleeping. She nodded her head with a smile and reminded him that she would do this, and more, for the rest of his life. Al-Zengi still was not ready to use her the way she had suggested. He had many questions about the Djinn. That day the two spend countless hours in conversation. She described the ancient pact signed between the Quaran and the Nether. She explained the different Djinn, and what it was to be a Si'lat. He was told in detail what the Quaran was like. Days would pass, and he would come to her with more questions. She would also come to him with questions of her own. This was, after all, the first time the Si'lat had stepped foot on Earth after the Gods and Angels exiled the Djinn to the Quaran. Every morning she would make him breakfast. Every evening he would bring her perfumes.

Weeks would pass, and on an uncertain day Al-Zengi would ask her a question that would stop her tongue, "What is your name?".

She looked at him and replied, "What would you like to call me?"

This was hardly the response he was expecting. He took a long look at her, and responded, "Senika. For it is the very name of the mortal who would try to trick the Buddha from his place in Nirvana, as you are trying to trick me from my place in Jannah."

She felt a great sense of guilt in his explanation and said, "Very well. If you wish my mortal name to be that. From this day forth I will go by the name Senika."

Days would turn into weeks, weeks into months. The two continuing the same things over again. She would bring him breakfast and keep the home clean. He would return with perfumes for her. Occasionally, he would bring her with him to the market, covering her face as to avoid persecution for her inhumanity. She would wander around and marvel at all the things humans would come to her with. Years would pass and the two grow closer together. One night, in the heat of love, he would come to her saying, "I want you to have more, Senika."

This, without her persuasion, would threw her off guard. She stopped him to explain that she was bound by certain rules set by the Quaran. When he asked her to explain, she described the Mystic Law. Among that list she told him that no Djinn could use their power for themselves. He gave it some thought, and then told her, "Then it is settled. Senika, I wish to become Sultan so that we both could rule a greater Syria, together."

Upon hearing this, she smiled wickedly. Finally, years after her summon, she was able to use her Djinn powers. But, before she would do so... she looked into him and asked, "I grant you this wish. But if I may ask this from you; to free me of my prison when you become Sultan so that I may be queen, and not slave?"

"You have my word." replied Al-Zengi.

Not sooner after his last word, the skies grew gray. Lightning lit the sky and thunders shook the earth violently. Senika took Al-Zengi by the hand and led him outside. They both watched as the demonic storm swept in. In a quick embrace, Senika pulled her love with her through the temporal. In the blink of an eye, Al-Zengi found himself at the thrown of the palace, looking face to face with the Sultan. The Sultan arose from the thrown in anger, demanding the reason for this intrusion. Senika leaned into the ear of Al-Zengi and whispered quietly her orders. The Sultan glanced between the two and was about to yell for his guards when out of Al-Zengi's mouth boomed a demonic voice, "Passus Mille Mortibus!"

That moment, the Sultan clutched his throat. He began choking on his own tounge. The Sultan fell to his knees, with wide eyes. The Sultans six year old son quickly ran in to the room after hearing the sounds of struggling. In a panic, Al-Zengi again shouted, "Passus Mille Mortibus!". However, it sounded no different than his usual voice this time. He looked to Senika for an answer, and she reminded him of the Mystic law, "No power given to the Djinn may be used against the soul of an innocent." The young boy stood and watched as the Sultans ears poured blood. The man fell over, extending his arm to the child in a final struggle before his body liquefied in a pool at the feet of Al-Zengi. The boy let out a piercing scream as he ran from the room. Senika reached down and lifted the crowned turban from the remains of the the now-dead Sultan. Al'Zengi couldn't keep his eyes from the door, horrified at what he had just been a part of. Unphased, Senika placed the Kings Turban on the head of Al-Zengi and said with a menacing smile, "It is done, Sultan."

The man stood, paralyzed. Guards began to pour into the room, weapons drawn toward the intruders. Senika looked in the direction of her lover and commanded him to demand the guards back down. But, he just stood there... motionless. Stricken with shock, he fell to his knees. She stood beside him and waved her hand in a brushing manner. All at once, every guard dropped their swords and clutched their head as if they had all been stricken with a violent headache. Senika spoke to them, stating that the old Sultan was dead and that a new Sultan had been appointed. One by one, the guards would fall to their knee as if bowing. Al-Zengi watched in horror. It had just occurred to him; The story the scholar told him so many years ago made more sense just now. Djinn wouldn't steal the soul of their master. The ones in danger were the victims of the wish.

For days, Al-Zengi would wake up in an unfamiliar silk and plush bed inside an unfamiliar white marble room decorated with undeserving spoils of war and conquest. Each day, Senika would present him a meal fit for kings, each larger than the last. But Al-Zengi would never taste of the food brought to him by the Si'lat. Through out each day, she would speak to him but get nothing but silence in return. She would ask him continuously to be a man of his word, and all he would do is look at her as if she was the devil. On one particularly hot afternoon, she came to him with chocolates and creams. She sat next to his side and offered the sweets to him. He would simply sit there, exhausted from the heat. She watched silently as the chocolates melted in her palm. Suddenly, in a fit of anger she turned his head to hers. "I have given you what you wished for, and you exile my love. You gave your word that you would free me and here I sit, shackled and alone!" The man looked at her with bitterness in his eyes, grabbing her wrist by the shackle. "Monsters like you deserve the cage you live in." And threw her arm aside, spitting in her face as a show of indignity. He got up and stormed out of the room. Senika was left there with her flask as her only companion.

Years would pass. Day after day, Senika would tend to the palace with the other servants. Bringing the Sultan breakfast, only to have it turned down in favor of a meal presented to him by one of the human maidens. Six years would go by. Every day exactly the same. Every day leaving her bound but unused. Until early one summer morning, a boy about the age of thirteen would approach her as she was tending the care of the palace. "Si'lat" the boy beckoned, "Come talk with me." Having not spoken for years to a single mortal inside the palace, she approached the boy in puzzlement. The boy took a good look at her and whispered, "Your master has long since forgotten you. Would it not be easier to rid yourself of him and forever be done living this life in misery?"

She looked upon the boy. Inside, she was torn between hatred and understanding. What the boy said is true, she will never be able to use her powers as a servant to Al-Zengi. Her lover had long forgotten the promise he had made to her in that cobble-house so long ago. She hated the boy for telling her this, but she knew he was right. Such simple words from a child, and they had brewed fury inside the Si'lat. "What is there to do?" She asked, "I am forever bound to my master until he dies."

The boy smiled coyly. "I know it is hard, but do you really want to return here? After everything this Sultan has done, how he has treated you... Is this really how you want to spend your life on Earth?"

"Kill him," the boy suggested, "Kill him and forever be done with this world of sin and swindle. Live forever in the Quaran knowing life there is better."

She looked at the boy quizzically. How is it some child as young as him could know so much about her. How could he know so much about her life and the Quaran? No matter how difficult she found it... the boy was right. She would never be allowed back into this plane, but if she killed her master now, she would no longer be tortured with the silent loneliness she has felt for so many years. Silently, she nods her head to the boy.

That night, Senika conjurs up her greatest meal. the plate stuffed with food she's known to be a favorite for Al-Zengi. She proceeds into the room, only to be greeted with the normal silence. Quietly, she sets the tray, adorned with the most delicious food to lay eyes on, down at the side of the Sultan. But still, he refuses to acknowledge her or her hard work. She stands over him with her arms crossed, "Why is nothing I do good enough? What did you do to the man I fell in love so long ago?"

He looked up at her, devoid of expression, "He died along with the Sultan whos soul you took from the little boy."

Fueled with fury, she grabbed the silver knife from the dinner tray and plunged it into the heart of Al-Zengi. He grabbed her hands tightly, and looked her deep into the eyes. With adrenaline fulled pain he so mutterd, "I was told you would come here to kill me tonight." As he pulled her arms deep into his chest, and spun the blade inside. "So, for you I give you this last wish..."

She looked at him with horror in her eyes. She had been tricked and, in blind fury, she couldn't see it until it was too late. As he spun the blade inside his heart, he called out in painful bursts, "Senika... I wish... your freedom." He laid to rest with a bitter smirk across his face. Senika freed the dead mans grip from her arms. As she pulled away, she watched as the shackles corroded before her very eyes. Each one giving way and falling to the marble floor with two large "CLACKS". She took a moment, holding each wrist in the opposite hand. She slowly looked up. Before her she saw the thirteen year old boy~ that same boy who was there when she commanded Al-Zengi to kill the boys father. And behind this boy stood an enormous, diabolical Ifrit Djinn. The boy stood over her with a smirk on his face as he lifted the turban off the dead mans head and placed it on his own. The Ifrit looked upon Senika with disgust in his eyes before his loud, commanding voice shook the walls of the room.

"You have committed a sin against the Quaran, Salem. With the blood of the Sultan upon your hands, you are found guilty of murdering your master." She trembled as the Djinn continued his sentence, "I, Rejhett, sentence you to remain on this earth until your dying days as a reminder of the binds which you've broken. Let this world bare witness to your sin, so that you may never live in the comfort of a friendly face again."

The judgement had been passed. Senika lay in tears as an overwhelming pain swelled inside her right arm. The pain grew, stretching apart the skin across her shoulder. She clutched her shoulder in the palm of her left hand and felt bone pushing up, out of her skin. Such a torture began to steal the breath away from her lungs and crawl up her neck. She could swear she was dying, if she hadn't known better. Falling to the floor, helplessly in shock, her eyes began to turn dark as she heard one final sentance being passed. This time by the boy, "The wicked will pay for the actions of the Si'lat." his voice started becoming more distant as she began blacking out. She could faintly hear the final words, "In three days, every last Djinn in my land must be executed on sight."

The Shroud of Shadows

This story coming really soon eventually?...

File:SeniAppearHeader.pngAppearance

Most Djinn can usually only manage to appear as half-human. And even then, it is often discolored, misshapen, and/or exaggerate. They are naturally more adapt to appear as feral or supernatural. The exception, of course, being the Si'lat. They are the few Djinn who master the appearance of humanity. They do so, typically by devoting their shape to a single form. Rarely do Si'lat spend their time in other shapes (Though that does not mean they can not, or do not).

Senika has mastered the adaptation of a slender, fit, human female of an average height, 5'9". Her hair most often appears very short and dark. She admires her appearance by looking dressed in a tight garment that covers most of her body. The garment itself changes color depending on her mood, though it is typically black. She is almost always seen wearing Chaya's Shroud. The shroud is a long hood, with drapery that is slung over her shoulder and extends below her knee. Unlike her garment, she does not have control over Chaya's Shroud. It always appears as a dark shade of violet, with gold trim around the hood.

There are a few aspects of Djinn that even the Si'lat cannot alter. For example; Senika is covered in the signs of Djinn which are markings, resembling tattoos, that stretch across both arms and across her chest. Because all Djinn are exclusively carnivores, they typically feast on humans. Thus, Senika has two prolonged upper canines to help rip and tear flesh. Her back molars are carnassial, not blunted like a typical humans, as well. Senikas violation of the 5th Mystical Law has caused varied permanent spines to protrude from her right shoulder as a sign of her sins.

File:SeniPersheader.pngPersonality

Because the Djinn were exiled by the gods to the Quaran, it isn't atypical to find Djinn at odds with Angels, Priests or other religious devotes. On the contrary, and even though they have no affinity to the Netherworld, Djinn are most at ease around demon, imps and other Netherworldly entities. They also enjoy the presence of elemental attuned beings of the Fairy, such as Fae, Elves and Dragons (Djinn themselves are often mistaken for residing in the Fairy, however this is not the case. All Djinn originate from the Quaran Plane).

Senika, herself, is very quiet, even for a Djinn. She is unusually silent most of the time. She does enjoy the company of an individual or small group, but shies away from larger gatherings. She is still very typical of the aforementioned Djinn behavior. The first master and last love of Senika was an incense peddler. Over the years of her servitude to Al-Zengi, she grew attached to the delicate scents he would bring her. She eventually became attracted to heavy, sweet smelling perfumes. Adversely, musky or foul odors offend her. She tends to avoid Lycan and other Anthropod because she finds their particular scent repulsive. The same goes for undead, but excludes Vampire in many cases (Typically, Vampires smell clean, either through hygiene or by perfumes. Freshly fed vampires, however, give off a metallic aroma that she doesn't tolerate). Senika is very cautious around humans because of their widely unaware ability to bind Djinn. She can be very secretive of her self when talking to a human, but may on occassion also seem overly-quizzical. Until she gets what she wants, she will often consider the human crass. This unfriendly discrimination is only so she can protect her freedom. If she feels the human is no longer of any threat to her way of life, she will behave more open and friendly to the human.

Senika has a noticeable disregard for the laws of man. This is likely because Quaran has its own set of laws that she feels supersedes any law man can come up with. Her views on theft, slavery and murder usually differ significantly from others. This has, often in the past, been the cause of a lot of quarrel between Senika and those she is around. For example; Slavery is a normal, natural part of a Djinns life. Thus she feels it is an acceptable way of life. Even though she, herself, is unwilling to surrender her own freedom.

File:SeniAbilityHeader.pngAbilities

Shapeshifting

Like all Djinn, Senika can alter her shape at her whim. Si'lat restrict themselves more than other Djinn, however. Unlike the Ifrit and Ghul, Si'lat refuse to take on the form of animals. They are masters at human appearance, and prefer that form over others. Though, the Si'lat are known to shapeshift as Demons occasionally.

Invisibility

Djinn can naturally mask their presence from mortals, though it becomes very draining over long periods of time if the Djinn is bound to the mortal plane. Their invisibility is also limited to mortals (Including Vampires and Lycans). Demons, Liches, and Angels can still see Djinn naturally. Senika, however, possesses the Cloak of Shadows which amplifies her ability to become invisible. While she is conjuring the power of Chaya's Shroud, she is undetectable, even to supernaturals.

Elementalist

Si'lat are physically weaker than other Djinn. But, they make up for this weakness by stronger elemental energy. Senika is able to control every element; Wind, Earth, Fire and Water. She can freeze water into glacial prisons, lift rocks with her mind, cause nearly anything to combust at random, and summon minor dust storms. Also, with the aid of Chaya's Shroud she is able to summon lightning with tremendous power.

Teleportation & Flight

As an Extra-planar being, as well as her possession of Chaya's Shroud, Senika is able to teleport short distances through temporal rifts. These rifts commonly appear as bolts of lightning. Her mastery over wind also allows Senika to use the element as a form of flight.

Enhanced Regeneration

Si'lat, being physically weak, also aren't as tough-skinned like most Djinn. The trade-off is that Si'lat can regenerate wounds at a more rapid rate than others. Gunshots or knife wounds will heal moments after, and most vital organ regeneration lasts only minutes before Senika recovers entirely.

Wish-bearer

A classic stereotype of the Djinn are that they are able to grant their master three wishes before returning to their bound lamp, flask or bottle. While this may have once been the case for Senika, herself... She has managed to break the bond between her flask and herself. She is no longer bound to a master, and cannot be forced to grant wishes. This, however, doesn't mean she can't. In amusement, she may occasionally have the urge to grant a wish. The granted should use extreme caution, however. Djinn are tricksters, and their wishes will almost always have dire effects on the wisher.

File:SeniWeakSubhead.pngWeaknesses

Growing dependency of Chaya's Shroud

Senika may possess one of the more powerful mythical artifacts. But, that is not to say that she is all-powerful, herself. In fact, over the centuries, she has become more and more dependent on the Cloak of Shadows powers over her own natural abilities. If she were to lose possession of the Shroud, she could become both extremely vulnerable and impaired.

Mystic Law

Djinn may be tricksters, but every Djinn must follow the laws of Quaran;
  • The Djinn must take responsibility for all of their actions.
  • The Djinn is not allowed to kill an innocent. (Laws of men do not break innocence. The victim must have committed a sin against life)
  • The Djinn must not enter a place of worship under any circumstance.
  • The Djinn may not alter physical law.
  • The Djinn must serve their master until the pact has been fulfilled. The Djinn will not kill the controller to evade servitude.
Breaking any of these oaths results in a punishment of execution. The murder of her master, Al'Zengi, found Senika guilty of violating the 5th law. But, due to Al'Zengis exploitation of Djinn rules, Senika was spared execution and instead scarred on her right shoulder. Any further violation will most certainly end with her demise.

File:SeniMiscHeader.pngMiscellaneous

Agent of the Nether - Over the countless years, Senika has reaped thousands of souls for the dark lords, despite her detachment from the Quaran. This has gained her quite a notable reputation with the hierarchy of the Nether. She has made hundreds of small deals with numerous demons across all of the Nether for her souls.

A Djinn Worth a Thousand Wishes - It is no secret; Djinn may grant wishes. Because Senika is no longer bound to a master, she may grant a wish from anyone she happens to come across. The catch? She decides whether the wish is worth conjuring. [For RP purposes, there is a fine line as to what Senika will and will not accept. Generally, any wish aimed at forcing another player(s) (including Senika) to play a certain way will be ignored. Things that are well outside of my control (typically things that involve in-game mechanics) I will refuse, as well. I may elaborate on what I approve later.]

Binding a Djinn - Although Senika has lost her binds to the flask, it is possible to rebind her and become her controller.

Steps to take to rebind Senika are as follows
  1. The controller must be human. Djinn will ONLY serve human. So no Lycan, Vampire, Demon, Alien or any other supernatural/extraterrestrial may proceed with the binding.
  2. In order for the Djinn to be bound, the human must possess something that belongs to the Djinn.
  3. After possession of the article, the human must approach the Djinn and demand obedience. The Djinn at this point can either choose to willingly accept slavery by the human or-
  4. If the Djinn refuses, both must agree to a series of riddles or mental games. The goal for both is to find out the true name of the other.
  5. If the Djinn cannot guess the true name of the human before the controller discovers the Djinns, the Djinn will become bound to the controller.
Things to keep in mind if you do attempt to bind Senika;
  • Because of the drastic change to my character, I will not tolerate godmodding to acquire an article to proceed to step 3. If you can't find a clever way to obtain something of Senikas through normal roleplay, don't bother trying the bind.
  • Senika does have a true name, and it is not Senika. If your character has already told Senika their birth name, you may as well not bother because she's already won step 5. (And no godmodding this part either. If everyone else refers to your character as the same name, and you change it simply to get past Step 5, I will consider it Godmodding and disqualify it.)
  • Finally, the character that binds Senika must, from then on always keep possession of the article used to bind Senika. If your character loses it, they lose control of Senika.
