"It seems as tho it's ourselves who we're really tryin' to kill. Dey say that ya first kill is always de hardest but mine was never hard nor simple. I was brought into dis world for a purpose and it didn't take long 'fore I found out what it was. I always felt deep down inside my own twisted, lovin', and skeptical heart that I 'longed to sometin' secret and hidden to the world. My whole life I was outta place and every time I looked into my mama's eyes it was plain as day. I can't look back now and must continue forward without any 'grets and 'pologize for notin' that wasn't meant to happen. But alas, notin' ain't that simple when it comes to me and I wouldn't want it any other kinda way." - Bea

The Dawn

The Proctor home in the woods of Campti.

On May 27,1987 in the small, quiet town of Campti a wholesome and peaceful couple were residing in their home. After staying at the local hospital for two days Susanna and Ezekiel Proctor decided to bring their newborn baby girl home to familiarize themselves with her presence. In the midst of it all there had been mysterious and vicious attacks around town. Unaware of what was the cause of the deaths the Proctors could not be more happier than to have little Beatrice bless their home. There was something about Beatrice that her parents could sense and with it also came fear. In the creeping hours after midnight Susanna, Ezekiel and baby Beatrice were fast asleep. The spring storms were still resonating in the area and were quite mild that night causing the leaves to rustle and branches to dance at the wind's command. It would appear to be nothing if it was just an ordinary night but this night, early in the morning would begin Beatrice's path into a life she was already destined to follow.

Hidden amongst the shadows in the wooded area around the Proctors' premises lurked a savage beast. A mysterious predator to man only spoke of in myths and superstitions. It made it's way close enough to the house only to circle around it sniffing the air for a possible meal when it caught scent of the Proctors. With a viscous and hungry snarl it made its way towards the house. Ezekiel's hunting dogs were tied up near his truck when they awoke and began to bark making the deadly beast stop and howl at a piercing and dominating howl. The hounds would silence instantly but Susanna and Ezekiel would awake shortly after. Fear settling in both of their eyes Ezekiel made his way to the room where he stored his guns while Susanna stayed and watched over a sleeping Beatrice. It was an eternity for Susanna before Ezekiel returned with his loaded rifle and pistol. A loud thud suddenly interrupted the silence along side the whipping of the wind and rustling of the leaves. Ezekiel gripped his rifle and motioned to the door so that Susanna could escape with baby Beatrice in her arms. Heeding his gesture she does so and maneuvered herself throughout the house not making noise.

When Susanna reached the door she looked back with a cradled baby Beatrice in her arms at her husband with a reassured smile. Without any waring the vile beast plunged from the rooftop onto a distracted Ezekiel which revealed the predator to be a werewolf. It mauled him vigorously shredding and clawing away at the flesh of Ezekiel's arm as he shielded himself splattering blood about the living room. With all of this commotion baby Beatrice awoke instantly and began to cry with screams. The werewolf howled in pain from Beatrice's cries which allowed Ezekiel to fire off three rounds weakly into the distracted werewolf. The beast was hit and snarled in his right hip, right shoulder blade and neck slight making it stumble and fall on its back. Ezekiel got up off of the floor and through clenched teeth told his wife to run.

Hesitant and completely fearful, Susanna did what her husband told her to do and hurried herself with her crying daughter in her arms and left her husband to deal with the wounded werewolf. She hastened her steps to a run trying to get as far away from their home as possible and to keep Beatrice safe. There was no turning back now, Susanna had left the keys to Ezekiel's truck in the bedroom and must travel on foot through the woods to go and find help. As she ran she hushed Beatrice as best as she could but it was no use for her own crying and fear had gotten the best of Susanna. As she ran gun shots were heard off in the distance behind her but then again it could've been her mind replaying that horrid seen she had witnessed. Minutes had surely passed and Susanna was growing tiresome. She stopped and rested against a tree catching her breath and calming Beatrice down. As she looked ahead squinting her eyes in the far distance she can see dancing light moving around in the air by shadowy people and hear muffle calls that she could barely make out. She sighed with relief and tears off joy mixed with sadness filled her eyes as she looked down to Beatrice.

Feeling a little reassured Susanna pressed on but stopped dead in her tracks when the piercing howl rang in her ears for the second time shattering all of her hopes in one action. The howl was close, really close and knew that the werewolf would get to her before she made it to the shadowy figures calling out in the far distance. She looked around panicked and heart racing Susanna turned her face to the left and spotted the old run down church. Not wasting another moment she ran as fast as she could towards the church hearing the beast not too far behind her. Breathing heavily through clenched teeth she pushed herself until she made it to the old church doors and hid herself within. She hurried and made her way to behind the altar underneath the stained glass picture of god. Susanna laid her daughter down said a soft prayer before kissing Beatrice's forehead and dropping a single tear on her cheek. A bit of Ezekiel's blood fell aswell but onto the floor next to Beatrice as Susanna got up and made her way out of the church. A few moments later a woman's scream wailed into the air along with a howl and angry shouts being heard as baby Beatrice laid in the dark cold altar of the abandoned church.

The Sunrise to Morning

The St.Joan Orphanage.

The morning finally came and dispersed the tragic events of the dismal night. Beatrice was found by a teenaged woman named Georgina Camden who was a nun at the St. Joan Orphanage near the town line. Beatrice became Georgina's pride and joy for at least a month before a young couple somewhere in their mid twenties visited the orphanage. Margaret and Franklin Gaudet wanted a child of their own but couldn't conceive and decided to adopt. Franklin Gaudet at the time was beginning work as an assistant event manager for the New Orleans Saints and Margaret was still continuing her education for her Master's in education. Georgina thrilled for their arrival knew the perfect choice and showed them to the one month year old Beatrice. After the moment they laid eyes on her the Gaudets knew Beatrice was perfect.

After the paperwork and the waiting process was complete the Gaudets welcomed baby Beatrice into their home and gave her their last name. With the countless mysterious deaths including Beatrice's biological parents the Gaudets knew they had to relocate. Fortunately, Franklin's job was asking for him to be closer to the Saints and Baton Rouge was the ideal place to relocate.

The Noon

With the new life in Baton Rouge, Beatrice was exposed to a bit of normalcy from her morbid eventful past. The Gaudets took it upon themselves to promise not to reveal anything to Beatrice until she was old enough to handle the details or came asking on her free will. Hours, days, weeks, months, and years passed with Beatrice not showing any signs of questioning. She accepted the things the way they were and never second guessed a thing. Beatrice grew and learned like any other person would after time and appealed to the promising and safe future that the Gaudets had made and mapped out for her. But even what had appeared to be tranquility for the Gaudet family something was dwelling around a young Beatrice that would one day draw the same terrors that took away her real mother and father.

Residing in the Capitol Heights neighborhood of Baton Rouge Beatrice attended the schools there. She grew into the culture and was captivated by what the capitol had to offer. In doing so, Beatrice became adventurous and sought after the oddest of interests. These interests were that of the supernatural and cryptic. On October 7,1994 a 7 year old Beatrice and the Gaudets went out on that Friday autumn evening to enjoy the Halloween weekend. The Gaudets were high in their morals and didn't believe in such things but couldn't deny the joy that lit in Beatrice's eyes. Franklin and Margaret took her to various shops and stores and even stopped to get Beatrice her very first candy apple. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary that day until they passed a voodoo shack called the Shadow Lands. Like any child filled with awe and wonder when looking at something new and foreign Beatrice instantly was fixated on the shack. Following behind her parents on one of Baton Rouge's busiest streets Beatrice found the perfect opportunity to slip from Franklin and Margaret's noticeable eyes.

With the boisterous noises of the city and people Beatrice made her way back to the voodoo shack and went inside. It was dark and silent. A pin could be heard if dropped and the small curious girl continued on drawn into the different objects displayed in her vicinity. Dolls, masks, totems, talismans, all crafted and shaped in the forms of fiendish creatures and animals. She didn't know what any of the things were but was compelled to get a little closer. Beatrice reached out for an old book entitled "Au-delà de la nuit" which in English means "Beyond the Night". As she grasped the book whispers flooded Beatrice's mind until she heard a man with a deep, insidious cajun accent say, "Don't touch de book child."]
