Background and Origin

Origin

Reptile comes from a world very similar to this one. An Alternate Earth, filled to the brim with heroes, villains, aliens, gangs, cosmic horrors and the like. People in Millennium City may know him as a hero, but he never started as one. His roots belong in the hand of villainy, and his venture into Millennium City gave him time to give himself a fresh start on life.

Reptile grew up as a human child living in the gang infested streets of a coastal town off of an Alternate World Rhode Island. This place was no place for a child to grow up in as there were violent gangs, corrupt policemen and an established dictatorship governing the islands. At a young age he would look out his window and gaze in amazement at the technologically advanced fortifications put up by the dictatorship to suppress the citizens of the coastal towns, wishing that one day he would be able to go there and being a part of it.

Shock Value and Change

At the age of six years old, a gang that was doped up on what was the current big drug at the time crashed and broke into his house in the slums. His parents told him to hide under their bed and to not make a noise. As the noise of the drug induced rampage died down, young Rep came out of the room to find his parents dead. After overcoming with the shock of what just happened, he tried to get help with the police. The police did an "investigation" on the incident, claiming that "the parents committed suicide, there was no evidence pointing to gang violence and that the kid was just making it up to waste our time". Young Rep was furious at this claim and attacked one of the corrupt policemen.

After getting pulled off and bruised by the officers he was thrown into an Orphanage. The children there were not any better. As the new kid, they would hurt, steal and be down right mean to him. The head of the Orphanage did not do anything about it, claiming that "boys will be boys". The abuse continued for four more years. At the age of ten, young Rep was out in the playground of the Orphanage. The sky had opened up and a fleet of warships that he had never seen before started to flood the sky. This was the first time he had seen an otherworldly invasion, but this has been a common occurrence in his world. As the dictatorship and other superpowered beings fought against these invaders, all citizens had to go into shelters. As Rep was trailing behind in to get to shelter, another child from the Orphanage pushed him aside and closed the bunker door. At this time he was encased in light and taken above into a ship.

Reptile was opened up like a frog and experimented on while awake. Nothing was taken out of him, but something was put into him. A large shiny black oval shape pill was implanted into his chest cavity. He was closed back up and in a flash of light he was back in a bed at the Orphanage thinking that it was a dream. Six months go by and young Rep starts to see flaking of the skin, change in eye color and his skin color losing saturation. This did nothing but further increase the ridicule from her peers. He had enough of this and during one bout of abuse he punched one kid in the nose, and got out of there. He ran as fast as he could and became a stowaway on a transport boat. He did not care where he went, but he wanted to leave.

New Island, New Life

As he got off the boat he saw a giant city scape, something that he had never seen before. He lived in the alleyways for a month eating nothing but food found in the trash until one day he saw a man in a suit being attacked by some sort of creature. Reptile attacked the creature, saving the mans life. The man was very thankful for his help and asked him where his parents were as he saw him in raggedy clothes. Reptile told his story and the man said that he would take him into his family, skin discoloration and all. Unbeknownst to Reptile, this man was in a wealthy Italian mob.

Years go by and Reptile continues to change. He starts to form a tail, his fingers become clawed and starts to lose his hair. He starts to hear voices in his head, his reflexes and charisma show signs of not being normal. The members of the mob start to question whether or not they want him around. The Don says that he has shown more skill than most of his mooks and wants to keep him. They did not want to hear it, so they plan to backstab Reptile when given the chance. During a routine bank heist, Reptile was ambushed by members of a Heroic Supergroup. He did not know that he was set up, and was thrown into a high security prison meant for super humans in the mainland.

A year into his sentence, the voices in his head got worse. During a routine medical checkup, the voices got so bad that he yelled out in anger. A sleek black tendril appeared out of his back and wrapped around the doctor and Reptile drained the life from him. This caused the voices to subside. He finally had a way to cull the noise as well as replenish his health. A new power for him to try. While this was happening the Dictatorship from his home isles staged a breakout on the prison. Power suppression was lifted and villains of all shapes escaped onto transports.

The transport took him back to his very home. The island that he was raised on, and the exact same fortification he saw as a child. He had come full circle.

Survival of the Fittest

Back on his home turf, he was told that the Dictator was looking for new Villains to show their worth to him as he had special projects for them if they did. If this meant that he couldn't get into trouble any more and do whatever it is he wants and to people, then he was all for it. He worked for many people to spread his brand of villainy. Reptile's reign of terror spread across the isles, putting other super powered villains in their place, stealing magical artifacts, vandalizing the mainland cities, working with the Dictatorship and beating up Heroes as they try to stop him. Within time, the Dictator was very impressed of his treachery and cunning and made him part of his inner circle.

Reptile within the inner circle was ruthless. His charisma and tactical prowess could rival the Dictator himself as he lead the Dictator's Military to many wins against anti-villain groups. Reptile became a name to fear within the isles and the mainland as he had even bested the strongest of heroes in front of millions. He had become very loyal to the Dictator and became his personal weapon. He didn't mind being used as a lackey. It felt natural to him. He felt like he found his place in life.

A Whole New World

Many battles were won, but they did take their toll. Not enough people were joining the military to make up for the loss of soldiers. The Dictator had the technology to possibly remedy that. As they were technologically advanced, they had access to portal technology. This meant traveling to another world. A world to conquer and forcefully assimilate into the ranks to bolster their forces. It was a simple plan, but a new test for Reptile's power. He had not conquered a world before and was sure to push him to his limits.

A new world was targeted, a world like theirs but not as advanced. Reptile was first to step through with a small armada to come behind him, a flash of light appeared and a sudden feeling of weakness overcame him. The symbiote inside him went into shock. A suppression shield was put around the city block the instant he came through, dispelling the portal and disabling his transponder to teleport back home.

This new city was obviously under attack by some threat as ships were zipping by and many other super powered people suffering from the same issues. As he got back on his two shaky legs he realized that he can't conquer a world if it gets conquered before he can. At this point he thought of a new plan. He was going to play hero, gather information about the heroes and backstab them the moment he can with an attack from his home world. It would be so easy to do! So that's what he did. He fought back the space bugs, which he learned later to be known as Qularr, fought against groups such as VIPER and saved the day countless times impressing heroes and citizens alike. His powers slowly returned after the sudden shock from the suppression field as he steadily went on.

Days become months, months become years and Reptile gets more and more worried that he won't be able to go back home and that his plan to backstab is all for nothing. This continues to eat away at him month after month until he finally breaks down. He is alone. Something he hadn't felt for over 10 years. He was scared. Refused to go out, help the city. He had become jaded and only kept to himself, unable to focus.

Alignment

Three years had passed since he first came to Millennium City. He's been living a lie this whole time. The people don't know who he truly is, and he doesn't care anymore. The plan was bogus, he was dumb to follow through with it and he was never going to go home again. After much tears and self contemplation, Reptile decides that he should just start anew. He has a following here, people like him. He could just wipe his past behind him, never to see it again, never to hear from it again. Just to forget about it! It felt like baby steps for him once he stepped out of his apartment, but he had done this before, many times. He's been a hero so why does this feel so new and different? Was it because he wasn't doing it for evil intent? It took a while, but he came to liking the new fame and praise instead of the fear and pleads he had been used to.

But as they say, the past will come back to haunt you. An appearance with James Harmon at the unveiling of the Trans-Dimensional Teleport showed that this world did have technology to go to different worlds. The urge beckoned back. He should complete his mission, failure or not. He could go home. After dealing with a resistance in an alternate version of that world, Reptile made his plan. He was going to sneak into the building, subdue who he had to, and take the information he gathered back to the Dictator so he can complete his mission and attack. The plan worked perfectly, no one knew he was there and he broke in and went home.

Upon coming home, he found himself in an empty citadel. The same citadel he had been a part of for many years with his reign of terror. It was quiet. He walked the halls until he came across the inner circle room. There he saw the Dictator, staring out a window onto his populace in complete ruin and riot. He sensed that Reptile was there and gestured him over to his side. He told him that the world had gone to hell in the past three years that he was gone. An ultimatum was made by the same otherworldly creatures that changed Reptile, and they failed to meet it. The world was set to be eradicated in three months time.

Choices

Reptile in complete disbelief asks many questions and gets no answers. He was told to spend his last three months doing whatever it is he wants to do or go back to that other world. Reptile says that he the world he was sent to could be their new haven. Away from this. They could start their operations anew and that he had information on all the heroes, so they can set their weapons for maximum efficiency for takeover. The Dictator shakes his head and said it's too late for that and tells him to just make the most of his time here. Not wanting this world to die in vain, Reptile heads to the mainland to talk to the heroes in their main city of operations.

He was not greeted warmly and was restrained. He yelled and begged to meet with the most prominent supergroup that leads them. He was sent to City Hall under strict protection and told them of another world they could refuge to. Giving them coordinates and a summary of the world. They said that they do not deal with villains and that this was just one last final scheme by him. Disheartened, he left back to the isles. No one wanted to be saved. They all accepted their fates and that was their choice. Reptile thought the same thing. He should just accept that this world was ending and that he should go with it. After taking out his frustration on attacking invaders, he made up his mind. He was going back to Millennium City and he was going to live his life as a hero. Repent of all the atrocities that he had committed and hope that it would be enough to redeem himself. He stayed at his home world until he saw a massive armada of ships appear in the sky, more massive than the ones he had seen before. Weaponry rained from the skies decimating cities. Reptile ran as fast as he could back to the citadel and went to his new home.

Redemption

Reptile reappeared back at the Harmon Industries portal, surprisingly at the dead of night and ran back to his apartment crying his eyes out. He never left for a good three days. Tired, depressed and weary, he mourned the loss of his home world. Now he knew that he would never ever see it again. He was possibly the only survivor he thought. Still very saddened by what had happened, he wanted to call a meeting with the Champions inside Champions HQ. He had to tell them. He had to explain that he was a fraud this whole time, he had to ask them for forgiveness. One Afternoon later, he walked into Headquarters, sat down at the round table and told his story. Told them his upbringing, his past, his crimes, his intentions, what happened, and most importantly that he wanted to change, but he needed help.

Most of the Champions were finding it difficult if they could trust Reptile at all, and told him to go get some rest and they'll give him an answer in the morning. Morning came and he was asked to come back to Headquarters. There he met with just Defender and he said that they came up with an agreement. They wouldn't punish Reptile for crimes he did not commit on the people of Millennium City, and that he was to destroy all the information he had stolen over the years. He would also have to work with Until in the technology department with what he knows from his more advanced world, to help combat the villainy here. Reptile quickly agreed and crushed the data right in front of Defender as a mark of his new life as a hero.

Powers, Skills, and Attributes

Powers

Heightened Reflexes - The symbiote gave him the inhuman ability to dodge, run and react quicker than any normal human being. This has helped him plenty of times during gunfights as bullets wiz by quickly. This also goes into his mastery with weapons. He can fire a shot and have it bulls-eye where he wants it with a flick of the wrist.

Silver Tongue - The symbiote gave Reptile the knowledge to persuade and charm people under him. This helps get information out of targets quickly and efficiently. Almost anybody can be swayed to his side, making him feel more agreeable even if the idea is horrible. In his villain years he used this to command militant units, strike teams, as well as having a gang of 35+ street thugs with him at all time ready to die for him.

Dark Miasma - The Symbiote itself. With this he can drain life his enemies, fly, intimidate and create a shadow replica of himself to crowd control.

Weapon Mastery - Upon picking up any type of ranged weapon, Reptile can use it at maximum efficiency. Even if it's an unknown rifle from another dimension. Once it is in his claws, he can use it like any trained professional. Due to the symbiote.

Gear and Equipment

Gear

Weapon - Gear and equipment are the things your character carries around and uses. These can be things like weapons and armor.

Armor - Feel free to use this section to name and describe the gear that your character uses, if any. Be, again, as lengthy as you like.

Gadget - If this section does not apply to your character, feel free to delete it. Also feel free to add more sub-headers as they apply, such as for a vehicle, perhaps, and that vehicle's statistics.

Relationships

Lover

This section is specifically for a spouse, lover, or some other form of paramour. Feel free to use any of the formatting from 'Friends/Allies' below.

Friends/Allies

Put any friends or allies your character may have in here. You may give them descriptions or simply list them. To make a numbered list, simply place a # at the beginning of each new line:

  1. This guy
  2. That guy
  3. Some chick

For a non-numbered list, put an asterisk instead (the lines are optional. Simply remove the HR tags if you wish to remove them):

  • This guy

  • That guy

  • Some chick

Or, you could even use a smaller sub-header for each person, effectively creating a small section on them, like this:

That Guy I Know

Put info on the friend here.

That Chick I Met

And here.

Some Dude at the Bar

Don't forget this one.

Enemies

Put any rivals or enemies here. You can give descriptions, or simply list them. Same idea as the Allies and Friends.

General Perception

Put here the way your character would be perceived by the general public. This means, the things that the general public would know, how the media would portray them, things people might know without ever having met the character.
