Origins

Janet is an ASPRA registered hero.

She is a second generation superhero, the daughter of the famed neurosurgeon and part-time superhero Doctor Psion, and his wife, the villain-turned-superhero known as Zorreline. Janet's parents left for Detroit to lend a hand to the heroes during the Battle of Detroit, but unfortunately only the father returned to New York alive. From that point on, Janet's father retired from superheroics so that he could always be there for his daughter and make certain she wouldn't lose both of her parents.

Sometime during her teenage years, Janet's metahuman powers manifested. She was ecstatic, the thought of following in the footsteps of her parents and becoming a hero was a dream come true for Janet. But several years later that dream was shattered when she found her father murdered. He was discovered in his office at the hospital with his skull sliced open like a can. The authorities were never able to figure out how this happened as there was no evidence at the scene, no murder weapon, no fingerprints, nothing.

Distraught and alone, Janet left New York and traveled to Millennium City, hoping to find a place for herself away from the tragedy of her father's death.

Current Events

Janet's costumed identity has become a well-known name in both Millennium City and New York. As Psion, she has played a part in thwarting numerous catastrophic events and criminal plots alongside her teammates in the New Challengers. She was recruited into the group years ago and has since risen to a leadership role within the team.

  • Ulterior Motive Finale

Last time Psion faced Mr. Shadow, she was nearly defeated! Thanks to a special serum developed by Krow, Shadow was reduced to an inert mass of ooze. But during their fight, the amorphous villain injected himself into Psion's bloodstream! From there, he slowly reconstituted himself using the heroine as a template. The result was Shadow Psion! A being who believed she really was the original Psion, until Mr. Shadow's consciousness reasserted itself...

Now the villain roams free once again and Psion is eager for a rematch!

Enemies

Personality

As a seasoned superhero, Janet is cautious and measured. She thinks first and acts second, especially when it comes to her team.

But when it comes to her powers, Janet throws all caution to the wind. Often times, she will subtly find a way to make skin contact to mimic someone's powers without their permission. She can become a little preoccupied with superpowers and forget that there are people behind the masks.

Powers

Psionics

Janet's telekinesis is fairly strong, she has been know to lift a semi-trailer truck at her peak effort.

Her psionics are also nimble enough to delicately manipulate multiple objects or restrain multiple people without harming them.

Mimicry

Janet can duplicate the powers of anyone she makes skin contact with. She has no control over this and gains an equal copy of their powers as well as their vulnerabilities.

Her copied powers are temporary, a mere handshake will let her use that person's powers for a few hours at most. Prolonged contact will let her keep the powers even longer.

She cannot duplicate learned abilities. For example: if she were to try to copy a martial artist she would gain their agility, strength and reflexes, but she would not suddenly know jujitsu. She can't duplicate Sorcery either, for the same reason.

Though her body will allow her to mimic most superpowers, it won't morph or change based on the power. For example: she won't grow claws or fur by copying a werewolf, but she will gain their heightened senses and strength.

True Origins

Fearing for her safety, Janet's father wanted her to become a doctor instead of a superhero. But Janet was a rebellious teenager who longed for the exciting life of a superpowered crimefighter. When her powers manifested, Janet finally had her escape from her boring life as a student. Up to that point, everyone including Janet and her father, assumed that she was merely a telekinetic. But in reality she was only mimicking her father's powers. The truth is that mimicry is Janet's only true power.

One day, while her father was spending an extended stay at work, the powers she had copied from him began to wear off and eventually vanish. Janet was horrified, she refused to go back to being an ordinary human again. It was at that moment when the more sinister side of her mimicry took hold, an instinctual hunger for power that she couldn't ignore. Acting on that instinct, Janet confronted her father and discovered a new talent. She is capable of permanently copying superpowers, but the process is fatal to the victim. With a telekinetic slice, Janet murdered her own father and took his powers for her own.

After realizing what she had done, Janet fled the scene, disgusted at herself and horrified by what her powers had driven her to commit. To this day she fights a constant struggle to keep her craving in check. She has never taken another life since, but the temptation to feel that rush of power again has never left her.
