Police Story is an Adventurers super group storyline that took place from February 13 - 15, 2019. It was concurrent with the Adventurers 5th anniversary, which was February 14, 2019.

Intro

This storyline focuses on a disaster event, and the GM's point-of-view will be Corporal Dana Leeds of the Millennium City Police Department. It employs a shared-narrative social RP mechanic as described below in 'Social Tokens'.

The story is told as if it is Cpl. Leeds retelling it in a report to her superiors.

Social Tokens

Each Adventurer will get a total of 5 social tokens to spend on this event. These are the ways they can be spent:

Yes, And!

Cost: 1-3 tokens, depending on the GM's interpretation of the gravity of the change.

Type <Y/A> into Adventurers_IC. We'll hold on things for a secon, while you describe something that you're adding to the scene for others to use / respond to! Ideally, things like:

  • Inanimate objects
  • NPCs who you justify to be there
  • Calamitous elements, like a ceiling suddenly caving in and blocking our route, or flames bursting out of a doorway.

Back-up

Cost: 2 tokens

Type <B-U> into Adventurers_IC to signal that your hero is about to swoop in for a daring rescue of either a police officer or bystander who is in danger!

Describe your entrance to the scene, secure the police safety, and then find a way to make your exit - remember, your hero is needed elsewhere!

Walk-on

Cost: 2 tokens

Type <W/O> into chat at any point between when a new scene is described, and before the GM signals that we have left that location. This signals your intention to do a walk-on part!

Whatever it is, set a short-term objective that, once fulfilled, causes your hero to then exit the scene. Ideally it's something that the police can either help with, or give you cover to accomplish.

Examples:

  • You burst through a wall, in the midst of grappling with an enemy
  • You're trying to access a security panel, under fire
  • Use your powers in some way to help people fleeing bystanders escape harm

Characters

Corporal Dana Leeds - POV character. Age 29. She's a six-year vet, and supervisor of this shift. Leeds has seen her share of supervillain attacks, super disasters, and more - but she is respected by her colleagues for keeping a cool and rational head in emergencies. Leeds is a great champion of the law, but working some rough beats in MC has led to her to be a bit of a pragmatist.

Officer Jai Sindhu - Age 26. Jai transferred to MC last year. He has a total of three years of police work on his resume. He has a great attention to detail, but he can also be a little wary and over-cautious. His down-to-earth nature makes him someone who is easy to get along with.

Officer Merwyn van Vliet - Age 35. Merwyn has been a beat cop for 9 years. He's a peace maker. He is respected as one of the best marksmen on the police force, but has been passed over for a promotion to the tactical unit a few times.

Officer Hank Ernst - Age 26. Two years on the MCPD. Ernst played football in college, and is an officer who values loyalty, teamwork, and family. He's the guy who loves to talk sports around the water cooler. He comes from a family lineage of police officers.
