Enchante is a character that began in another well-known Superhero game and I've decided to reboot her story here in CO. I always appreciated the concept of playing someone with the Spiderman/Peter Parker syndrome - someone who was capable of so much, but only behind the protection of a mask, and Chante is certainly one of those types. Half the fun of playing a masked cape is the delight of exploring their 'secret identity' as well.
~
Personality
Enchante is all fire and wit when she's suited up. She's friendly, focused and prepared to do what it takes to get the job done and the criminals behind bars. The costume itself may lead people to believe that she's also a flirt, based solely on the thigh-high boots and short skirt (backed up by a pair of high-cut shorts, for modesty's sake) but that's not quite the case. Flirting may occur, but work always comes first.

Outside of her hero-work, she's a completely different person. Introverted and quiet, it takes some effort to draw her out of her shell, and there's very little in the way of confidence when it comes to social situations.

History
WARNING: Spoilers follow..

For most of her life, Jessica was quite average and normal. She was raised by her mother alone, a woman who displayed great strength after the death of her husband and the father of her two daughters. As the younger of the two (but only by a year and a half), Jessica followed and looked up to her older sister, Janie, and the two were quite close. Close enough that Jessica was the only person who was aware of her sister's moonlighting as a small-time cape.
Neither of them had powers, but Janie had what seemed like a supernatural ability to 'sense' things - when someone nearby was in trouble, when something bad was going to go down. She explained them as 'feelings', and used them to good effect, taking inspiration from the more powerful caped heroes in the nation at the time and training to her physical peak to be able to support this 'sixth sense' for danger. Jessica would listen to her sister's tales upon returning to the house before dawn, sometimes writing the stories down and saving them in a box for when Janie was recognized as a big-time hero. They were both sure it would happen someday.
As the girls got older, Jessica became increasingly interested in masking up and joining her sister as a sidekick, but Janie would hear nothing of it. The arguments went from 'it's too dangerous' to 'you'd just get in my way' over a short period of time, and Jessica had so much trust in her sister that she just began to believe it. There was nothing she could really do to help - no powers, not physically 'in shape', and certainly without the same intuition, she would simply be a tag-along.
One night, Janie didn't come home. Instead, the family received an emergency call from the hospital - Janie had been caught in a crossfire and gunned down, and time was short. Sadly, Jessica and her mother didn't make it in time to say goodbye. Jessica did get one last conversation with her sister, however. She had never believed in ghosts, but her sister came to her as plain as anything and urged that she continue the work. That she would be capable of things she had yet to even dream of if she opened her mind to them. Then Janie gave her the push to do so, forcibly unlocking the potential in her younger sister.

The Power of the Mind

A large part of Enchante's power comes from the simple belief that there is much more that the average human can do if they were only able to realize it and listen. The potential power of the human mind and of 'positive thought' isn't simply wishful thinking - it's entirely attainable, given the right triggers and whole-hearted belief that you Can Do something that you want to do.
Telepathy:
Enchante has a minor talent for telepathy, which rarely results in complete and whole pictures or thoughts. Most of what she picks up on are the emotions of the people around her, and can often play off of them to discern the weakest mental target in a group of enemies and use him to bring the rest down, or play off their fears or anger to drive them to mistakes.
Cons: Occasionally the emotions of people around her seep into her behaviors while she's not fighting, and this can lead to some emotional distress.
Telekinesis:
Working with etheric energy has given Enchante the ability to manipulate her own 'mental will' and project the image of a blade into each hand. These are used in combat to cut down her opponent's psyche and will, ultimately forcing them to submit to arrest or concede the fight. She is training to apply this technique to a shield as well, which will effectively stop attacks in mid-air, including physical projectiles like knives and bullets.
Cons: If Enchante is having an off day or is under great mental strain, the weapons will weaken and occasionally disappear at critical moments. This tactic requires her to be on her game at all times as she can't rely on an actual physical weapon to parry attacks or a physical shield to block them and protect herself.

Mysticism

While many of her powers stem purely from willpower and mental strength, Enchante is branching out and attempting to learn to manipulate external energies in her world. The simplest term for this is 'sorcery' and it doesn't fall too far from the mark on what most people imagine when they think 'witchcraft', though her method involves no focus items, no 'reagents', and no magic words. It's purely her will and projected energy attempting to manipulate the energy present around her.
Teleportation:
If asked to explain how she does this, Enchante would be hard-pressed to provide a rational explanation. So she really doesn't try. Simply put, she "projects" herself forward in the world to where she needs to be.
Cons: She has, on more than one occasion, hit the ground from unpleasant heights due to a miscalculation in distance. This also requires her to be able to support herself with only the power of her mind, and it's something that she really needs to work on regarding speed.

Equipment

Communication Unit:
A standard-issue radio unit that is capable of tapping into police radio, or any frequency on which communication is necessary.
Dimensional Cape:
It's really just a normal cape, but it helps Enchante visualize when she needs to store something in the etheric realm for a time.

Allies

Janie Ross
Deceased sister and continued friend, Janie occasionally comes to Enchante in visions or dreams and acts as a sort of 'spiritual coach'. Their relationship remains close, though Enchante wishes she could initiate these meetings herself rather than having to wait to speak to her sister on the spirit's schedule.
Erik the Red:
A recent contact, and a sorcerer himself, Erik aided Enchante in breaking up an illegal fighting ring. So far they remain acquaintances.
