To Michael, he was in heaven. He could work on his 475 lb bench press 5x5's all he wanted. But I had to do literally double that. At like, 100 reps. And I still didn't feel tired.

Chapter 19 (Remnant 9)

Having superhuman strength is great. It's awesome actually. You can do whatever you want, beat up whoever (except for Mogul... and Merrow I guess), and get away with it.

What does suck, is the training.

You see, when you're a regular ass human, training for strength or muscle is a matter of pushing yourself and keeping up with diet. That's nice and all, but when you're a meta human, with a god damn strength evo that doesn't go away when you want it to, you gotta start being creative.

Say, my bench press. What's your bench, bro? 315? 405? Well, I rep those easily. With one hand. And I'm not kidding, not trying to sound like a douche. I'm going to admit it now. I'm really skinny. I'm only 138 lbs, and for my height, that's saying a lot. But with my meta human powers, it's just unfair in comparison. Michael and I went shopping for gym gear, including a barbell, deadlift bar, squat rack, dip bar, pull up bar, the works.

To Michael, he was in heaven. He could work on his 475 lb bench press 5x5's all he wanted. But I had to do literally double that. At like, 100 reps. And I still didn't feel tired.

"Mike, I need more man. Can you lob on two more plates?"

"We're already at 950..."

"The bar can handle it right?"

We took the deadlift bar, and even then, it wasn't enough. I ended up doing reps with two deadlift bars, each containing 1023 lbs. We ended up breaking the bench.

"Kid, I think you should just... lift cars or something." Michael muttered, staring at the destroyed gym gear in Merrow's apartment. She was definitely going to kill the both of us.
