"O lost, and by the wind grieved, ghost, come back again."
"To believe that new monsters will arise as vicious as the old, to believe that the great Pandora's Box of human frailty, once opened, will never show a diminution of its ugly swarm, is to help, by just that much, to make it so forever."

In-Game Biography
"There was a man holding a megaphone cranking a klaxon as we steered The Resilience high above Overtown. Overtown, or in this where - Detroit, had slowly decayed for hundreds of years since the technologies of our forefathers were forgotten. One glimpse at the man's face told the story in the rivulets of blood that streamed from his open scalp, John Goodson's century long seige of the last Lake Barony was over. Finally his forces overcame their last obstacle, The Ambassador, which spanned a massive dried river canyon that protected Overtown from marauders after The Doom.
Sailing high above the clouds we could barely make out the familiar shapes of Overtown, the burnt wrecks of "tacksees" and the hollowed out skeletons of the Scrapers. We charted a course across the Sand Sea to the north, sailing for her, sailing to the witch who promised us salvation.
We arrived at her small hut in the middle of the barren sea on a moonless night. We lowered ladders, I took my first-mate and made the descent. It was there that the old eyeless crone spoke the words we had heard many times before about John Goodson and the turning of the worlds: "There will be no planets to align. Just the carcass of the sun and little painted marbles spinning senseless through an endless black sky. There are other worlds than this." Distraught, we made our trek across the dunes back to the ship. It was there that we saw a free standing door. We raced towards it in reckless abandon, we needed that door, we wanted it, to feel the splintery wood against our fingertips, but most of all we wanted to open it. Scrambling up the dunes I reached it first, I felt the heat of the day radiating off the door knob as I turned it...and stepped through"

The Resilience
Some would say that airships ruled the skies over the Imperia for a hundred years, long after the last "tacksee" or "aerojet" drank its last drop of fuel. Others could date the arrival of the airships further back, after what was called the First Martydom - the rounding up of all intellectuals by John Goodson's forces shortly after his rise to dominance, some would have you believe that was millenia ago. Either way, the importance and dominance of the airship in military and civilian life, if a distinction could be drawn, was paramount.
The Resilience was an Elizabeth Class (74) Ship-of-the-line, with a crew capacity of roughly 500 men and women. The length of its gundeck as approximately 168 ft, with 139 ft at its keel. Its was known as the finest airship in either fleet, be it that of the Children of Overtown or the forces of Jon Goodson (known simply as Marauders). This reputation stemmed from the fact that, of its 74 cannons, all 28 of the gundeck's cannons and all 4 of the forecastle's cannons remained moderately functional. Gunpowder, and the ability to render it, was in short supply with most of its manufacture being allocated towards small arms. Thus, many of the cannons derived their power from the very source that drove The Resilience, steam.
Navigation of The Resilience was done using the stars. A sextant, compass, and an accurate map - which were increasingly harder to come by - were all that was needed. Remnants of older technology remained aboard: a strange dipolar computer with a circular screen in which a glowing green line rotated around on a center point, and another peculiar machine with various gauges, knobs, and switches that long ago was rigged to operate the steam engines below.
The sails on The Resilience were not just for show. Periodically the ship was set to "wind power" to allow for the steam engines to rest and "Batarees" that ran the computers to charge.
Wyatt Singletary and The Black Prince's Revenge
Note: Wyatt Singletary is Mette's current nemesis.
Wyatt Singletary was a former crew member under Mette. He, like so many others, joined the crew after the tales of her exploits, namely the capture of The Resilience, reached his ears. However, unlike others, it was greed that drove Wyatt, the lure of pillaging and plunder, not the idealistic quest he unwittingly signed up for. His dissatisfaction was quickly evidenced by quiet dissension, and it was not long until it lead to outright mutiny. Mette was taken aback by the large numbers that Wyatt drew to his cause, and she will never forget the number of former friends and allies she slew to squash Singletary's attempted mutiny. During the final hours, when it was clear Wyatt's forces were losing, the silver-tongued pirate escaped and fled to the only refuge he had available - the forces of John Goodson. No one is certain what he did to gain the trust of the Marauders, however, what is certain is he was soon at the helm of The Black Prince's Revenge, the finest airship in Goodson's fleet. Wyatt, with a new ship and new conviction found himself guided by a singular mission, to find and kill Mette Wainwright.
Not long into her time in the world of Millennium City, Mette had a chance glimpse of a man across the grounds of the Renaissance Center, no other person save John Goodson could take her breath away and make her heart stop, she knew in an instant that Wyatt Singletary had somehow followed her to this world.
RP Hooks for Wyatt Singletary:
- reputed "modder" who severed his own hand and foot to be replaced by crude cybernetic appendages
- worships Robert J. Oppenheimer as a deity, going so far as hauling around a mock-up nuclear device (he refers to it as his "shrine") as an ode to this giant of science
- notoriously silver tongued
- some dispute as to whether his hatred for Mette is spurned by unrequited love
- since coming to this world has embraced different varieties of gadgets and weapons to aid him in his quest to kill Mette Wainwright
