John Turro, serving UNTIL Commander [Brig. Gen.] with 32 years of service under his belt. Currently operating as the Commander for a new UNTIL Project, dubbed "Project ARES".

A middle-aged man in his mid forties, with hair that's beginning to turn gray and a trimmed stubble. Nothing particularly sticks out about John, but his past is evident - Strong facial features and a well maintained physique. John is most often seen in casual cargo pants and a leather trench coat.

Early Life

John was born on January 21st, 1970, in the small town of Maynardville, in Union County, in the state of Tennessee, to a shopkeeper and a veteran United States Marine. He was the middle of three children - Three years after his older brother Vincent, and five years before his younger sister Victoria. Live was simple in the small town of less than a thousand people back then. John went to elementary school, and later into Highschool, where he showed a passion and affinity to mechanics, and took a part time job in a car shop.

Trial and Error

Nothing of interest would happen until John's 16th year, when he got his license. His older brother asked him if he can drive him around for some cash, and John thought nothing of it. Occasionally, the two brothers left town in John's car, driving into bigger towns where Vincent would go into some houses and return with money. This went on for two years, and John didn't mind the effort, seeing as he got a cut from the money the brothers made selling marijuana around the county. But after two years, the two brothers got caught with the drugs, and John's license got suspended and they went to trial.

The judge gave them a choice - To enlist in the US Military, or to go to prison. The brothers then split their separate ways as John chose enlistment in fear of prison, and Vincent chose prison in fear of service.

1, 2, 3, 4, United States Marine Corps

John enlisted into the US Marines, following his father's footsteps, and after his boot camp period in Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, he got sent to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, in Twentynine Palms, California. He was a part of the First Battalion, Seventh Marines Regiment. Upon seeing his file, his staff sergeant sent him to undergo Scout-Sniper training, for the Surveillance and Target Acquisition Platoon. John passed the course and became a scout-sniper, and not too long after, war broke out in the Persian Gulf. John and his platoon were sent as part of operation Desert Shield in 1990, where they spent five months in Saudi Arabia before Operation Desert Storm began. During John's deployment, he received a letter from home, stating that his brother died in prison.

John's first combat experience was short, but bitter, and to this day he remembers every detail of it. Upon their return to the States, John remained in service out of a sense of duty and commitment, and he remained in his base in California until 1994.

The Citadel

In 1994, John was transferred to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island to become a Drill Instructor, and in addition he enrolled into the Citadel Military Academy, in Charleston, an hour and a half drive away, where he studied for the next three years, getting his Bachelors in both Business Administration, and Bio-engineering. John became accustomed for little hours of sleep and long days of work, as he juggled between his double degree and his duties as Drill Instructor, but after three years he managed to sufficiently pass the studies. One of the teachers in the Academy who noticed John's dedication and vigor, pulled some strings and managed to get a request to get John transferred from the USMC into the Joint Special Operations Command 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, popularly known as Delta Force.

Bragging Rights

John moved to Fort Bragg in North Carolina after finishing his training course for the Delta. During his time there, between 1997 and 2006, he would continue his academic studies and gain his PhD and DBA, and operate around the world as a Delta operative and later on officer. He took part in operations part of the Somali civil war, as well as operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, including the Battle of Tora Bora in 2001, Operation Red Dawn in 2003, and the rescue of Roy Hallums in 2005. In 2006 he transferred to command a team in the newly established Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC).

Always Faithful, Always Forward

John transferred to MARSOC and was a assigned his own team, with whom he spent the following year conducting counter-terrorist and information operations mainly in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as several classified joint operations and joint training with the Israeli Defense Force Sayeret Matkal, and the British Special Air Service. John served one year in that duty, before resigning along with his team-mates. The team, along with a couple of friends from Israel and England, decided to form a company together, designing power armor and advanced weapon platforms for the United States government. They received their contract and were able to open a small factory in Canada's mountains, along the US border. In the summer of 2007, the company, "Golf Wing Arms and Aviation", flew north onboard a V-22 Osprey towards their factory, with John wearing their first model power armor suit, for a christening of the factory and a live demonstration.

Crash and Burn

On their flight to Canada, the transport flew over a Hunter Patriot compound and was shot out of the sky. The Osprey crashed into the mountainsides, a few miles south of Steelhead. The only survivors were John, thanks to the armor, the Osprey's pilot, Joshua Levi, a former Israeli Airforce pilot.

Joshua's spine was damaged in the crash, and he lost all sensations from his pelvis down. John carried him to Steelhead, and they took immediate evacuation to Millennium City. Joshua returned to Tel Aviv shortly after, and it seemed that John's short civilian career was about to end.

Family Reunion

And so, in 2007 John moved to Millennium City, where his sister has been living, working as a detective for the MCPD. He joined UNTIL as a Captain in Project Snakecharmer to help with his living expenses, and decided to continue his work as the CEO, and now only employee, of Golf Wing A&A. During that time, John worked with some experts to develop an A.I assistant and pilot, dubbed Jasper, after the company's old pilot, who contributed to the creation.

John continued serving for UNTIL for five years, until his sister died in line of duty. John shortly afterwards went on his own and ensured the arrests of the people involved. UNTIL has seen such demeanor as unfit for a Major within their ranks, and John was forced to resign, with no charges pressed against him. After a few idle months, John rejoined the Joint Special Operations Command. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assigned the duty of Live Weapon System Test coordinator, during which his duty was to oversee the experimental use of a heavily armed jet V/TOL gunship, designed and built by Golf Wing. However, that was only a cover-up. Though officially John and his six employees flew out to conduct live weapon tests around the world, under the approval of the UN and coordination with the local military forces, what was actually going on was that the test locations were VIPER experiment facilities. John and his team of hi-tech armed personnel infiltrated these bases as the Gunship provided cover, rescuing around ten thousand test-subjects during that year. However, due to the high cost of the ammunition the project was shut down, and John was dismissed under the rank of Colonel for his actions.

New York, New York

Under an agreement to provide the classified nature, in agreement with the Department of Defense, UNTIL accepted John back, promoting him to Commander, equivalent of Brigadier General, to place him as an official member of the United Nations Security Council for the following year (perhaps so UNTIL would actually be informed if something similar to John's actions in the DoD will be attempted again).

John decided to shut down the weapons department of Golf Wing, renaming the company to VirTurro. VirTurro compiled source-code archives for Virtual Reality and Virtual Intelligence, for the video game industry, movie industry, and military simulator designers. On the side, VirTurro manufactured, distributed and maintained advance medical technology at low costs to hospitals all over the country, providing critical aid to victims of criminal activity. He has recently also began distributing abroad, making the technology available in all hospitals in Germany, England, France and Sweden.

During that time, however, intelligence suggested that for his long years of giving VIPER a hard time, and his now significant rank and position, John is under risk of attempted assassination.

During the summer of 2014, as John's residence in New York was finished and he was prepared to move, he received a call that his apartment in Millennium has been bombed by a VIPER agent. When John arrived at the scene to assess the damage, a secondary charge hit his car's driver's side. Obliterating his left arm and causing severe damage to his side. After treatment and adjustment of a robotic prosthetic, John decided that it was his time to retire and focus on starting a family. John spent four months travelling the country, letting the company run its own. He lived off odd jobs in machine shops around the country, and finally returned in November of 2014 to Millennium City after receiving confirmation that VIPER has lost interest in him, to pursue more important targets.

During December, he had adopted a thirteen year old mutant girl with psionic powers, by the name of Sable, and has joined the Noir Foundation, an organization providing humanitarian aid around the globe. John aids the foundation by training its PMC department in non-lethal solutions to secure the shipments, and provides strategic input on the Foundation's operations.

Soaring to New Heights

During the winter of 2014, John has decided to try his luck at hero work, applying his years of experience in order to cut down the crime rate in Millennium City. He constructed a new power armor system, dubbed A.L.F.A - Armored Lightweight Flight Apparatus, and has found it satisfactory to his needs on the armor's third revision. He registered as a licensed hero with PRIMUS, and it quickly caught public attention, the media "christening" him as Alfa Wing, for the letters written on the armor, and the mechanical wings he flies into the scene with. However, due to his other preoccupations, his acts are against smaller crimes by local gangs, and assistance to the M.A.R.S unit of the Millennium City Police Department.

After a couple of weeks of working as a hero, John was contacted by UNTIL and UNITY, and was offered to re-enlist to their ranks as a liaison between the two. John returned to his former rank of Commander, while doubling as a hero down in Millennium City. He was stationed to live in the GATEWAY space station, teleporting every day down to the city.

Project ARES

In late 2015, seeing the new technologies provided by the research of Project Clockwork after Mechanon's most recent attempt at a large scale assault, John petitioned the UNTIL Command and the UN Security Council to create a new project, dedicated for rapid armed response around the world. Combining his technological knowledge with existing and new technologies from UNTIL, John provided the Tribunal with new schematics for a low earth orbit type of carrier, and complementary troop carriers to go with it. The new aircraft carrier, dubbed ARES-C-1, became John's new home, seeing as his adopted daughter having become of age and moved to live on an undisclosed college campus on Earth. Ever the workaholic, John dedicated the last 5 years to developing and testing the technologies for his new project, and training the soldiers that would become under his command. On June 1st, 2020, Project ARES, AKA UNTIL Airborne Response and Expeditionary Squadron, took its maiden flight in secret, and for the following two months all the soldiers supporting the behemoth vessel ARES-C-1 got to working on final touches. The station, in addition to its modest fleet of low Earth orbit assault and support vessels, has been equipped with an ADIS platform, allowing teleportation to and from other such platforms such as key UNTIL bases on Earth, and the GATEWAY station. In addition to allowing more easy movement of troops, this ADIS platform acts as a "backup" in case anything happens that would otherwise prevent the full link between Earth and GATEWAY.

Following a successful maiden flight of two months, UNTIL's command along with John authorised the release of the information regarding the project, placing it alongside the information available about the other projects UNTIL is heading.

John is a mature, experienced man. Although often giving off an emotionless, rough exterior, those who know him better know that he is more than willing to give a hand to people in need, and that he is a caring father for his recently adopted daughter. Often seems, though, that John is still haunted by his years of service, spending many nights with little sleep, and often overburdening himself with work to keep his mind distracted.

John is a highly skilled Power Armor and Aircraft pilot, with over seven years of experience in it. In addition, he has nine years of experience in special operations - specializing in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue; a total of twelve years of experience in commanding; and advanced skills in marksmanship in all types of terrains found on Earth.

He values innocent lives more than anything, and holds the law in high regards, refusing to accept any illegal action done in the name of justice. He is an idealist that lives by the USMC motto of "Semper Fidelis" - "Always Faithful."

Weapons

John holds a staggering collection of firearms he has from over the years. But for the purpose of flights to secure his own medical tech shipments, training the Foundation's PMC unit, and aiding the law enforcement bodies, he holds only 2 main weapons - A pair of BSP57 "Hummingbird" pistols, and the NBCC "Supernova" Plasma Blade.

John's own design, the BSP57 (Blowback Shifted Pulse 5.7mm) "Hummingbird" Pistol offers a unique design, fitted for John's combat needs. Its compact storage design expands to a long mechanism, where the free-floating barrel is fed the 5.7×28mm round from a horizontal 40 round magazine, much like the FN P90. The free-floating barrel slides back with each two shots in a delayed action, resulting in a rapid two round burst at 1800 RPM, based on the Russian AN-94 design. The pistol come with an in-built suppressor.

The ammunition used by John is a custom made 5.7×28mm nanite charge that digs through armor in order to electricute the target. This ammunition is programmed in advanced, individually per every target, by a special built-in LAM device. The pistol can also use any other regular 5.7×28mm round.

The NBCC "Supernova" in its inactive state

John's own design as well, the NBCC [Nano-Battery Ceramic Compressor] "Supernova" Plasma Blade is a telescopic Ceramic baton that takes oxygen from the air or from special cannisters, compresses it with a Kendrium fan powered by a Nanotube battery, and expels it as hot plasma through microscopic holes in the telescopic baton's three foot ceramic blade, the plasma being held in suspension by an electromagnetic field. The plasma blade is adjustable in temperature, being able to deliver either an electric, non-lethal shock, or in full force cut through Kendrium with little to no effort.

Vehicles

John often drives around in a black Equus Bass 770, occasionally riding a Harley 883 Roadster.

In addition to his usual vehicles, John also owns a jet V/TOL cargo plane (converted from his old gunship), a customized Boeing CH-47 Chinook, and a veriaty of one-man V/TOL and Jet aircraft, as well as several hoverbikes. The cargo plane and fighter are only used to ship and secure medical tech around the world. The Chinook's large cargo bay is used both to increase shipment capacity, and to hold John's company servers and AI assistant and pilot. All aircraft have onboard stealth systems to hide both its sound and sight, ensuring a safe an quiet flight. The aircraft run on John's custom power cells rather than fuel, and the engines have been modified accordingly - providing a critical increase in flight range and speed, and a decrease in weight and maintenance costs. The Chinook often flies over Millennium city, in stealth mode, to provide John with quick access to his private servers, and to act as an eye in the sky, coordinating with the city authorities and SOCRATES to aid with detection of emergencies.
