Origins

About: Freddy's dad spends a lot of time away, and the two are forced to move around a lot. As a result, friends are something Freddy's never really had. To compensate, Fred spent a lot of time reading his dad's old golden age comics. The influence these classic comics had on Freddy is evident!

Unbeknownst to Freddy, his father had his powers of reality manipulation sealed away. With a mind full of comic books and aspirations to be a hero, Freddy's willpower first started to unseal his powers around age 13.

Freddy “Genix” Macready and his father Kane “Wendigo” Macready.

To understand Genix one must understand the Wendigo. His "father". A famous soldier, turned mercenary.

Kane is the embodiment of this notion. For many ages, his meta-human ability to 'bend' reality only served to keep him young, healthy and strong enough to continue on a path of violence and wealth!

Kane did eventually settle down, somewhat. He fell in love and, eventually had a son. Life it seemed... was changing. His persona; the Wendigo, a soldier of fortune who can never get enough blood or money to be satiated was about to be put to rest at last.

Kane's wife and child died, unexpectedly. The events leading up to their deaths are not well know. What is well know, is Kane's decent back in to “The Wendigo”... and the piles of bodies he left in his wake.

Desiring to continue fighting and killing forever. Kane performed the unthinkable. An expression of his power that'd be most costly, consuming his eye, and much youth from his body. Kane bent reality with the help of other powerful Meta-humans and created a clone of himself. A new vessel to transfer his consciousness in to when the time was right. A baby boy, born with kane's same power, but endowed with the power since birth, his clone would mature to become even more powerful.

The clone would need time. With a young baby in his care... Wendigo remembered what it was to be a father again. Young Freddy, in many ways helped Kane to regain much of his humanity. Sacrificing his new vessel to instead be a father.

As a father Kane shows patience and love, providing for his “son” and teaching him with care.

Freddy grows and develops, before long it's apparent to Kane that his son inherited all of Kane's memories. All the many battles, the black ops, all the loss and all the pain that comes with a long... long life. Unable to bare to see such a young child deprived of a fresh start, Kane attempts to protect his son by having Freddy's inherited memories sealed away by a powerful telepath, replacing a lifetime of memories with something innocent and childlike... cartoons and comic books.

The result was a boy without knowledge of his own power. But a deep obsession with heroes!

At age 13 Freddy's obsession with heroes, comic books and action movies started to yield an unexpected result. So many years spent imagining and dreaming of being a superhero. Freddy inadvertently activated his power, convincing himself he IS a superhero, Freddy bends the reality of his body and becomes GENIX. His ideal version of what a superhero should be. Handsome, buff, nearly invulnerable... a champion of justice and a servant to the people.

Genix served with the Young Champions, fighting some of the cities most evil villains along side other young supers. When Kane found out about Freddy's activities, Kane made sure to enroll him in to the Ravenwood Academy.

Now 18, Genix has graduated from the Ravenwood Academy hero program with honors and some of the best combat simulator scores the school has ever seen.
