The Forcebringer, real name Jason DuCroix and formerly known as The Heir, was a college burnout who was made the avatar of the Force of Winds, a powerful but faded magical source of power that gave him control over kinetic force, the ability to accelerate himself to incredible speeds, and the magical Doldrum Swords. Sworn to save mankind, he led an unsuccessful and thankless career as a wise-cracking Westside vigilante until he was approached by the homicidal alien Warblade. With the threat of this alien's domination ignored or even embraced by many of his fellows, DuCroix realized he needed to become something else to combat the threats that faced humanity. He accepted Warblade's offer to join the Blackguard, and left behind his old moral code in order to gain the strength he needed to usher mankind into an age where no threat was too great - whether mankind wanted it or not.

However, with his deception uncovered, Forcebringer finds himself with no allies in the light nor the dark. He continues his crusade to ensure humanity's survival, striking against malevolent forces and interlopers, though he uses methods that often create chagrin among more upstanding heroes.
