A Word from @Ferawinn

Hi! First, thanks for coming to check out Femke's page. Second, I guess I would like to explain the set-up of this little wiki and provide a bit of the 'ole work-in-progress disclaimer. The initial sections of this wiki provide encyclopedic entries of current story arcs and, if available, the outcomes. In later sections I will indulge in my guilty pleasure of writing more substantive copy; as such, you will find vignettes into Femke's past written in a more creative style. So please enjoy the content I have worked hard to put down in this wiki, and if you have feedback or questions please feel free to contact me.

Brief Encyclopedic Overview

Femke is believed to be the last living member of a Russian Military experiment known as Project: Cheka. The malicious aim of the project was to "acquire" young children and groom them to become the world's premier covert agents. Femke was raised in this sterile, cold environment of a Russian military research agency, and from an early age taught the finer arts of espionage, subterfuge, sabotage and most importantly assassination.

Her early life as a covert intelligence agent consisted of all the hallmarks of opulence, marred by horribly unspeakable brutality. During this time she was an anonymous, blunt instrument wielded by a government agency for malign purposes. As she became older, her disillusionment grew with her current status in life, namely she saw herself for what she truly was - a prisoner in a jail where the walls were not of brick and mortar, but psychological in nature - created by a vicious cycle of dependence. It was at this crossroads in her life that she made a fateful decision and shattered her bonds, moving out on her own. Unfortunately, she only knew one way to survive and soon found herself returning to the world she was desperately attempting to flee.

Now, however, without the protection of an international superpower, ambitious governments and rogue agencies began efforts to apprehend the girl. One such plot succeeded when a joint effort by MI6 and the CIA, spearheaded by an agent known as Ian Branch, apprehended Femke in a small transportation hub outside of Kaunas, Lithuania. Femke soon found herself thousands of miles away in a new prison, this one known as Millennium City. Upon her arrival, instructions were provided that made it clear she would be under strict supervision, and if the psychologists and military brass were satisfied that she no longer posed a threat to the United States or its allies, she could potentially win her freedom.

Current Story Updates

UNITY and the Emancipation of Femke Dietrich

After spending time pulling what work she could find, Femke had a chance encounter with a mysterious man at Sherrerah's on the westside in Millennium City. With an alcohol lubricated tongue, Femke began to divulge the secrets from her past and information as to why she was in Millennium City. It was not long after this chance meeting that UNITY came calling. She was ordered to move her belongings into the UNITY housing facility and report for duty assignments starting immediately. Fearing possible reprimand she grudgingly complied.

Captured VIPER surveillance footage showing Femke and Meltdown

It was not long into her time with UNITY she was given a mission to infiltrate and destroy a VIPER facility in Africa. Due to the high risk of the mission, and its imperative nature, Femke was allowed to select one individual to accompany her, she chose her inamorato - Meltdown. Together, they were able to successfully infiltrate and thwart the plans of VIPER.

Upon reporting to base camp, Femke received a notice that she was to report directly to Quasar - the head of UNITY. After meeting with Quasar in private she was formally presented a pardon for any past transgressions and offered a permanent position with UNITY. Her disdain for government organizations and the accompanying oversight lead her to decline the offer, subsequently, and surprising to her, she heard words she never thought she would hear, "You are free to go."

Story: The Capture and Death of Anselm and Betti Dietrich

The German Democratic Republic, 1989 -- For many it was a time marked by the explosion of fireworks, the toppling of satues, the incessant overture of "Auferstanden aus Ruinen", and the iconic crumbling of a wall that divided a nation. The revelry gripped the world as the Western powers united in a singular triumphant victory over what became largley seen as visual evidence of the "Iron Curtain". However, for some, the festivities of this turbulent time were only a marked reminder that the full weight of a nation's cruelty would soon be brought upon them.

It had rained for days. The asphalt shone with the light of the full moon as a couple raced down the narrow lane, their shadows stretched before them in a vain attempt to outrun their less-umbral masters. The pavement was cracked and buckled, in many spots the asphalt gave way, allowing the bare brick road underneath to peek through, the water greedily pooling in these recesses. Anselm and Betti Dietrich navigated these potential ambuscades with an adept precision that belied their current physical state. Anselm ran a few lengths infront of his pregnant wife, his hand clinging to hers, pulling her, willing her to continue; only a few more blocks and the potential to escape this nightmare would present itself, at least until the next morning. Repeatedly Anselm would crane his neck backwards if only to alleviate the fear that his backward stretched hand was now holding nothing but his own pruned fingers. During these brief intervals, when his dark blue eyes met Betti's, in his heart, the pair could have been taking a leisurely stroll along the Hauptstrasse of Dresden, window shopping the latest seasonal fashion trends. But, whenever he turned to look forward, the hard, cold, driving rain that plastered his clothes to his body was a grim reminder of their reality at hand. They were not on the Hauptstrasse window shopping, this lane was flanked by hovels, not store fronts, and in fact it was not fellow shoppers behind them, but the cruel sounds of Sepp Ulbricht's German shephards and the foot falls of members of the Committee for State Security.

Sepp Ulbricht, a former war criminal granted clemency by the Soviet Union, was particularly skilled at tracking down and finding those "desired" by the communist state. Unfortunately, Anselm and Betti were on this short list; their crime, being born with the ability to teleport their persons through space, a gift they repeatedly put to use as conspirators and saboteurs against the communist regime. It was now tasked to Ulbricht to bring these two proported rebels to justice, a task he very much relished.

The pace of their footfalls hastened as the ground rose to meet their thundering steps. Anselm began to believe they would make it, they needed shelter, food and rest, and tomorrow they would be fit enough to teleport as far away from Ulbricht as possible, and if they were lucky, to complete safety. These thoughts raced through his weary mind as he felt a sudden surge of pain race through his ankle. The lightning that shot through his brain was mirrored by the more heavenly variety that streaked across the rain swept evening sky. As he stumbled the realization he felt as his ankle twisted and snapped, caught by one of the many fractures in the pavement that providence had guided them over, until now, became all too apparent - there was not going to be a tomorrow.

He watched as his hand, already slick from the constant deluge, slid effortlessly from Betti's. He watched as Ulbricht's dogs encirlced them, all noise and color seemed to bleed away from the world as the rivulets of rain caressed his anguished visage, the snapping jowls and frenzied barks were but a whipser, a dull din cast by shadow figures that seemed no more real to him than the looming prospect of his own death. He saw Betti seized and pushed inside a nearby farmhouse as he was lifted to his feet, the flurry of blows that quickly sent him crashing back down to the cold, wet pavement were each a muted extension of the pain he felt knowing he would never see his wife or unborn child.

To Anselm, he floated to the nearby field, that neatly plowed earth turned quagmire that drank so covetously of the blood streaming from his open scalp, but in reality he was unceremoneously carried by two of Ulbricht's men. He watched as a shallow hole was dug, the look on his face was of stark confusion, not now, not when they were so close. It was only after the two men levelled their machine guns and the silence of the world was broken by the sound of gunfire and the screams of his wife that Anselm accepted the cold reality.

Betti died that night as well, her body lived on for a few more weeks to deliver her child, but she was virtually catatonic, surviving only up to the moment she heard her child fill her lungs with air and bellow her first screams into the world. Minutes after the baby Femke was ushered off with members of The Committee for State Security, Betti Dietrich was pronounced dead.
