About the character

Admitedly, Engine Nineteen was a "make it up as you go" character for a very long while - which was a drawlback of having made him solely for the supergroup the Statesmen. However, in the past month or so I have really found the path I've wanted to take Freddy and am happy with how he has turned out. His interactions and experiences with others are something I love and feel are genuine to the character.

The hardest part of setting the character Freddy in place was finding inspiration. At first, he was a patriotic mutant that liked to joke more than not. Here I looked to Spiderman. Who would have thunk it? But in time, he was injured horribly and began to change for what I saw as the better. His past started to resurface and really helped me flesh out his personality as well as his powers. Now Freddy is an observant, calculating mind that is worried for the bigger picture of things but is always reminded to take solace in the smaller joys of life. Something that I have looked far from comic books to find. In fact, it goes all the way to a character Gideon Ravenor made by Dan Abnett for his Warhammer 40,000 Inquisition trilogy.

Powers and Abilities

"When one stares long into the abyss, one becomes the abyss." -- Psionistar

Telepathy

In recent month Fredrick has delevoped a strong profeciency in the mental art of telepathy. This stimmed from a traumatic event of losing his right shoulder to a blade and, freeing his body may break down, his mind collapsed in apon itself in a swirl of chaotic emotions and thoughts, unleashing his full psionic power.

Once a strong telekinetic force to be reckoned with, Fredrick's mutant mind now thinks in complexities, often extending from its boundaries to sense the physical world around him and take note of items that may interest him, including other sentient beings. Leaving his body's constraints his mind can take shape of various objects, even taking on their physical properties at times, an example being the metal "Guardian Angel" armor he wears into most combative situations.

Fredrick can also extend his mind's presence into another's being, reading thoughts, manipulting emotions, and in rare circumstances controlling the physical actions of the weak willed. With other psionics, Fredrick carries full, in depth conversation through thought (though he has no problem doing so with nonpsychics) and has been known to play various games, such as chess, with psionic Psionistar.

To others, Fredrick's mind is a completely chaotic place. Many thoughts at once (above and beyond the female gender trait: multitasking; though that too is believed a laten psionic trait by many males) collide and combine only to seperate again make his mind a very unreadable thing to any but the most concentrated. However, Freddy doesn't hide his mind behind any psionic sheilding and easily accessible to emapthy and thought projection.

Telekinesis

Once a major telekinetic psionic, Fredrick now realies on his telekinesis only for short, brutal and forceful pushes at enemies as well as propelling himself into flight.

Affiliations, Friends and Foes

The Statesmen

Formerly the Federal Marshall of The Statesmen, Frederick led the group and guided them against super-powered threats across The United States of American and surrounding territories, or any foe the government saw as a proper threat to the peace of its self or of Earth.

Friends and Allies

Sunbird: Recently Freddy had once dated the heroine and Chief Deputy Federal Marshal Dawn Kimball. Although Frederick is a usually serious man Dawn had been able to gather an amount of his time on various occassions and showed him that he can take smaller pleasures at times. Freddy himself was infatuated with the somewhat sheltered and very religious woman, finding her views very innocent and empowering, but did not let this attraction leak into his professional career, although he valued the research she has gathered on celestial matters as well as the threat of Takofanes. Since Frederick's return, he learned that Dawn was missing just as he, in the Vibora Task Force incident.

Psionistar: Although fully psionic for a much longer time than Freddy, David seems to be much more grounded in the human side of things most the time and helps his Statesmen pal to keep his head on things that concern the now and not plan ahead too much, as the future is always shifting. Along with Dawn, David is one of the only people Fredrick has truely come to trust. However, unlike Dawn, this is because Freddy looks up to David's cool and calm presence as a psionic and admires his abilities as a hero. David is also Freddy's link into the MARS division "Meta-S.W.A.T."

Lady Incendiary: Although it was not long ago that Fredrick found himself interested in the very public and expressive California Assistant District Attorney, he was dismayed to find out she had fallen for another. This realization that things change or may not be as he percieved helped him to gain control of his telepathy which he thanks Jane for but found it hard to see the woman as a friend, settling instead for calling her an ally, though he would publicy call her a close friend. Despite his troubles identifying her status as a friend, Freddy continues to affectionately call the woman "Firecracker," as a good summary of her firey personality and powers.

Moonchilde: An estranged friend from the start of his career with The Statesmen, Freddy saw Kelly with some protective thoughts but due to his serious stance and recent issues, did not find time to take her aside for a promised chat on her mood and feelings on a past relationship. Kelly, he learned, had moved on from the Statesmen, deciding to finish her college degree.

Backlash: Although Freddy has not spoken to the woman privately, and holds reserve for her concerning Lady Incendiary, Engine Nineteen has a deep respect for the heroine's track record and admires her involvement in The Battle of Detroit.
