"All those years, you protected me as Deacon. Now it is my turn. To protect you as Fury. I will become a hero. Your hero." - An awakened Deacon Chow to an imprisoned Meena Kennedy

Deacon Chow, otherwise known by his alias The Fury, or Fury for short, is the third remnant of Paladin Decen of Acadia. Representing his wrath, Deacon is widely regarded amongst the Remnants as the most violent and ruthless of his kind. His dark and brutal upbringing has shaped who he was, until his death to Prime Aspect Mogul. Wielding the flames of Diablos, Deacon's fires were unequaled, making him one of the more powerful Remnants of his kind. Deacon was able to easily defeat Saul of Ksenia, Mogul's top follower, who had pressured Merrow and Thomas together. Deacon was also capable of fighting both Remnant 1 and Remnant 9, and defeating them both. Fury's flames were powerful enough to outmatch Kyrael Prima and Merrow Rivenlight, the first possessing the fires of Vectane Prima, the son of a Paladin, and the latter, who's affinity was naturally the counter to fire.

Initially, innocent, kind and loving, Deacon was brought up by gunslinging operative Meena Kennedy, who was regarded as the most brutal and efficient killer in Blackwater as well as the Organization. Meena's violent personality was a direct contrast to Deacon's initial kind personality, and despite Meena's impatience and abuse on the Remnant, the two developed a romantic relationship after Meena realizes that Deacon wishes for the good in her to come out. The two fell in love, and Meena slowly began to soften up from Deacon's influence. Deacon gaining a more braver personality.

At some point in the story, Deacon and Meena were captured by the Halakites, where Meena was subjected to The Transformer Procedure, in an attempt to reawaken her killer instincts and turning her into a mindless slave. Unfortunately, the procedure was not successful, as Meena's love for Deacon broke Malakai's control upon seeing the Remnant brutalized by Kallas in a one on one fight. Deacon, on the verge of death, is recovered by Kallas, and Malakai devises to have Deacon tortured, to bring his Fury side out, in hopes that the Procedure would be successful on him.

The combined effects of a mind controlled Meena, physical torture, and internal conflict causes Deacon to abandon his kind personality, and take on a darker, more brutal, and violent persona, in sense of "accepting his Fury half". This causes Deacon's hair to turn white, his eyes to glow orange, and a drastic personality change. Killing Kallas, and willingly accepting the Transformer Procedure, which has never happened before.

Fury's main objective was to serve Malakai as his "champion" in hopes of keeping Meena safe and living a life without harm. In sense, "protecting her just as she did for him". This mindset was met poorly with the ex-mercenary, who berated Deacon and escaped her confines, leading to Deacon to suffer an emotional breakdown.

After being defeated by Merrow Rivenlight, Remnant 1 and Brickhouse, Deacon was imprisoned for an unknown amount of time until he was released by Merrow to aid in the development of Remnant 5, Thomas King. Merrow offers Deacon a chance to become his mentor, just as Meena had done for him.

Appearance

Deacon's appearance changes drastically throughout the Mogul vs. Remnants storyline.

As Pre-Halakite Deacon

Deacon was described to be slightly taller than Lucius Cassidy, who stood 5'7". His hair, black, like his brothers, was slightly different from his brethren, in that although long at the back, slightly pointed forwards at the bangs, giving him a "mullet appearance".

Like all Remnants, Deacon possessed a face very similar to his progenitor, Decen. His eyes are described to be brown, and his face, innocent looking, which is similar to his personality. Deacon was often seen wearing flannel over a white t-shirt, and dark blue jeans.

Deacon possessed a very skinny build, similar to Decen, and was largely described to be unfit. Relying solely on his girlfriend Meena's abilities for support, Deacon was never found to physically exert his body in a fight.

As Fury

When Deacon was subjected to Kallas' torture, Deacon's hair had grown out, to chin length, and was described to be white as snow due to the stress that was induced on his body for over a year. The bangs had grown out, and covered his eyes in a fashion similar to Decen's but longer. This appearance was very similar to the "Fury persona" that had haunted him prior to his torture.

Metahuman Skylar Merle described Deacon's appearance as very similar to the main protagonist from an implied anime. Fury's pupils changed from their original brown to a fiery orange. Which sometimes glowed brighter if powered up.

Deacon's drastic appearance was also accompanied with a drastic personality change, and this was reflected in his expressions, which had changed to a dead, depressed state, rarely smiling, and often scowling. It is shown that at this point, Deacon's facial expressions bore striking similarity with Meena Kennedy's.

Fury's attire changed as well, adopting the gear provided to him from Malakai's Halakite Military Forces. As Malakai's champion, Fury was equipped with a black tactical trench coat, and black cargo pants that provided kevlar-like padding similar to Meena's bodysuit. In addition, Fury also wore an iconic hockey-like mask that covered one of his eyes, giving him an appearance similar to the "Jason" character.

These combined features gave Deacon an extremely intimidating and fearsome appearance, and combined with his offsetting and violent personality, struck fear in the cosmos, gaining him the alias Fury of the Halakites. Deacon's appearance was so offsetting that even Meena was shocked and horrified upon discovering Fury's transformation.

When Fury undergoes his Demon Transformation, the left side of his face becomes a black skull, while the right side of his face is still human, albeit with orange lines cracking along the skin. Deacon is surrounded by a black and orange flaming aura, and his fire constructs also possess a black tint to them.

Redeemed Deacon

When Fury was released by Merrow Rivenlight, the Remnant was given a chance to train Remnant 5, or Thomas King. Deacon decided to don an attire bearing striking similarity to Kyrael Prima when the elf had ventured away from Corinth. A black buttoned up leather jacket, and a zipped dark grey hoodie, and black jeans as well as white sneakers.

Powers

Fires of Diablos: Inheriting Diablos' cells from when Decen assassinated and consumed the Demon King, Deacon is able to harness the unique Demonfire, which is a form of supernatural flames that are akin only to Diablos himself, and far eclipses the Underworld Darkfire in flames and powers. Deacon's initial control of the power was poor, but after awakening his "Fury" half, Deacon was able to harness the flames to a destructive level of skill. From precision, to also creating flaming constructs of "tendrils", "blades", and even arms, Deacon's control of the flames bare remarkable resemblance to Decen's transformation powers.

The flames are said to be so hot that they nearly melted anything that came in sight, and the temperatures of Deacon's flames were such to the point where even R1's regeneration could not keep up. The only being who is able to withstand Fury's flames was Prime Aspect Mogul.

Superhuman Strength, Speed, and Agility: Deacon inherited Decen's strength, speed, and agility, but at a reduced effect. Although his agility and speed surpassed R1 and Brickhouse's, to the point where Fury had overwhelmed a Berserker Lucius, it was due to the Fires of Diablos boosting his attributes.

Superhuman Regeneration: Deacon is also able to harness Decen's regeneration, but at a reduced rate. Unlike Lucius' healing factor, Deacon's healing is passive like Arman's, but is inferior in comparison. The healing would only take place when Deacon was out of danger, allowing his body to repair itself.

Skills/Moves

Most of Deacon's moves have a name, as he believes by calling his moves by name, he is able to imbue more power into the attacks.

Breaker Series

Deacon is infamously known for his "Breaker Series", which was so iconic, that it almost defined his entire fighting style. The impact of his Breaker Series left a long impact on Decen's Fifteenth Remnant, Jonathan "The Black Jason" Crypt, who also adopted and created his own version of the Breaker Series. As with Jason's Breaker Series, Deacon's Breaker Series is divided into multiple portions that house his immense Demonfire powers.

Deacon's Breaker Series is divided into three types of attacks:

  • Smash: Deacon launches an incredibly devastating punch, typically a haymaker at his opponent. Depending on the Breaker type, this can range from a simple disintegration, to almost worldwide devastation.
  • Blast: Deacon launches an incredibly devastating blast of Demonfire.
  • Slash: Deacon launches an incredibly devastating slash of Demonfire. This slash either is done for melee, or launched as a projectile of Demonfire. Both attacks are equally potent, and the strongest of the Breaker Series due to condensing the energy into a thin line, increasing its stress and pressure.

Empirebreaker Series

Deacon channels around 10% of his power, to deliver a devastating attack that is capable of leveling cities. Jason took inspiration from this and created his own version, the Citybreaker Smash/Slash/Blast.

Angelbreaker Series

Deacon channels around 60-70% of his power. This type of attack is his most well known attack, as Deacon typically uses this series against very powerful beings that would otherwise be durable enough to withstand his Empirebreaker attacks.

  • Infernal Gatling: By channeling and concentrating his breaker series into a single point, using his tendrils, Deacon can unleash even more power from his Angelbreaker attacks, rivaling that of his Kingdombreaker without the stamina drain, this allows Deacon to blast more of his Angelbreaker series in quick succession.

Kingdombreaker Series

Deacon channels all of his power into a last ditch attack. Due to the immense stamina drain, Deacon rarely uses this ability. Calling upon the Kingdombreaker series depletes all of Deacon's energy, but in exchange, delivers immense damage to his target.

Dante's Series

By infusing his body to the limit of his Demonfire, Deacon is able to simply deal damage by turning his body into a hellish inferno. This is reflected by what he dubs the "Dante Series".

Dante's Touch

Deacon touches his opponent while infused with Demonfire, turning them into ashes. This can either be a touch, or even without physical contact, due to the sheer temperatures of his flames.

Dante's Inferno

Deacon superheats his body, and unleashes a powerful AoE of Demonfire, charring and destroying his surroundings. Deacon's control over the inferno is such that the radius is not too big, allowing the damage to be condensed in a small radius.

  • Planetary Devastation: Deacon can power up his body even more, increasing the radius of the inferno. This is likely due to the sheer amount of power, which escapes the Remnant's controls, and forcefully increases the radius of the damage. Nonetheless, Planetary Devastation is known to disintegrate almost anything it comes across, with Prime Aspect Mogul being the only exception.

Ultimate Moves

Infernal Legerdemain: Deacon willingly allows his opponents to beat him bloody, and intentionally moves his body such that his blood sprays in a large radius. Then, upon calling the attack, ignites his blood with Demonfire, creating an extremely powerful explosion.

  • Kingdombreaker Infernal Legerdemain: Full Gatling: Deacon powers up his body in a similar fashion to his Kingdombreaker series, and condenses his power, enabling him to multiply his attacks. Then, Deacon ignites his blood, releasing his Legerdemain at an even greater magnitude, as it is now comprised of multiple explosions. Doing this depletes all of Deacon's power, and causes overwhelming damage to his body. However, the power of such an attack is said to be capable of annihilating multiple planets.
