Description

Everybody knows about the story of Millennium City, located in the Champions Universe. A futuristic city built on the ruins of Detroit, America following Doctor Destroyer's attack.

Darwin's Chronicles Of Croft follows another country, the country of Croft, located far from Millennium City. Croft is a country secluded from the rest of the world, and has an emphasis on magic and technology.

Croft was ravaged by a war from two factions: the Mages and the Infernals. However, the mages discovered a new power, the ability to call upon the power of other beings, known as the Soul Link. This new ability was taught over the next generations through the Mage Academy, with successful and star pupils admitted into the Mage Militia. Over time, the mages defeated the infernals, and gained the upper hand. For years, Croft flourished from the victory over the infernals, bringing on the Age of Light. However, the use of the soul link began to open the mages up to the Corruption, leading to the awakening of the ancient god Mogul, the Aspect of Sin.

Mogul, assembling his own army, under the radar, known as the Shadow Legion slowly began to corrupt the Mage Militia, taking over the ranks and gaining control. The leader of the Mage Militia, Marcus Ariandal became possessed by Mogul, his body becoming Mogul's vessel, as he took control over Croft. Mogul passed the command to Marcus' daughter, Calliope Ariandal to become the temporary leader of the New Militia, while Mogul developed his new body to suit his immense powers. This takeover ended Croft's Age of Light, and brought on the Age of Ash.

The New Militia ruled Croft with an iron grip, under Ariandal, forcing members to serve the New Militia, infected with the Corruption to become a new kind of mage, The Avatars, or be cast away into the slums. Those fit to serve were taken to the Capita, where they would be the sentries to the New Militia. Those who had served their time would be granted a new life in New Croft, a flourishing community. Or so it was believed.

New Croft was merely a fabrication created by Mogul to manipulate Calliope into serving him with all of her allegiance. New Croft was actually the Pit of Corruption, a deadly pit of Corruption that aimed to extract the essences of all living things to fuel Mogul's powers, allowing him to fully restore his powers.

One day, a group of meta humans and mages emerged from a portal created by Avatar Trill Cohen. This group became known as Darkstar, led by former Mage Academy graduate John "Jason" Crypt, and half infernal Amana Cross. Darkstar served as a symbol of hope to the people of Croft to return to the Age of Light. Darkstar continued their efforts disrupting the New Militia through a guerrilla war, until Ariandal decided to take action.

One day, Ariandal decided to invade the slums, and force all the occupants to either join her or die. The surviving people of Croft were taken into the Inquisition from another universe, while Darkstar recruits more people to their cause, hoping to end Mogul for good in a final battle.
