A person who is an adept at learning and using complex magical spells to produce a variety of effects. A trait that may define a wizard from other magic users is a dependence or preference for using a magically imbued device to channel their powers. The device usually takes the form of a staff, rod, or wand. Less common devices might be daggers, stones, or small swords. The wearing of pointy hats is optional.
