Behind Sarah and Psion, Sai’edra and J’asira’s hologram followed as they spoke.

“So how’s things with UNTIL and Jane? They aren’t working you too hard are they?” asked Sai’edra.

“Things are…progressing. Remember when I told you they wanted me to use Virillian level technology or higher on Jane?”

“Yeah, I do. Did you find out why? What am I saying…of course you did.” grinned Sai’edra.

J’asira chuckled lightly and paused as a frown appeared on her face.

“Well it turns out they want her to join some sort of new division for fighting deep space threats from other civilizations marked as hostile…which is very odd considering Earth amongst several other level five and six TR civilizations are part of the Star Guardians. The file I found wasn’t very well put together; I didn’t have more than a few minutes to look at the file, I had UNTIL in my lab at the time. I’m suspicious of their true motives at this point in time but until I can prove anything I’m more concerned about them touching items in my lab. I’ve already had to rescue seven ‘highly trained agents’ from some of my devices…” she explained.

“Strange…if I can I’ll bring it up with Chris, see if he knows anything about a new division being drawn up. How’s Jane?” asked Sai’edra.

“Jane’s doing okay actually. She was getting irritated at being cooped up at the lab for extended periods of time, I’ve told her she can take the month off to get back to the hero scene and do what she does best really. I’ll need her back in the lab for a couple of weeks after though, the schedule’s been moved up but I’ve sort of delayed it for Jane. We’ve been over the improvements I’ll be making to her cybernetic systems as well as a few minor bionic alterations, so she’s aware of what’s going to happen.” replied J’asira.

Sai’edra nodded and smiled, turning right as she stepped onto the landing. Psion stopped outside a door, which had several telekinetic constructs barring entry to it. He dismissed the constructs and moved to open the door. He froze he felt a unique presence in his mind as he reached for the door. The emotion coursing through him caused him to mindlessly disintegrate the door to where Mentella lay...or rather stood. Sarah, Sai’edra and J’asira looked through to see Mentella standing a few feet from the now disintegrated door, a golden eyebrow arched elegantly as she eyed the door way and then the still-in-shock Psion. J’asira’s hologram moved through Psion and broke the silence.

“Mentella, you’re alright!! Where have you been?!” cried J’asira.

Mentella directed a genuine smile at her little sister’s hologram, soon turning her attention to Sarah and Sai’edra who moved past Psion to greet her. After they exchanged pleasantries, Sarah ushered Sai’edra and J’asira’s hologram out of the room.

“I can see you’ll need to explain whatever is going on to him first…we’ll give you…space.” nodded Sarah.

“Actually, after I speak with Ed’ran…I’ll need to speak with all of you. J’asira, you will need to be here in person. Contact Jane and tell her to come along too. I’ll meet you all in the library very soon.” Mentella stated.

Sarah nodded as she left and J’asira nodded and the hologram vanished and the small projector drone flew off. Sai’edra stepped out of the room, brushing past Psion as she joined Sarah. Psion stepped into the room, glaring at Mentella as he generated an opaque telekinetic construct shaped to fill the space where the door once was.

“Why?” he asked coldly.

Mentella sighed deeply as her smiling facade fell away and ran a hand through her hair, looking somewhat distressed.

“This was entirely unexpected, I-” she started.

Mentella paused as she suddenly realised Psion was a lot closer than he was a moment ago. He wrapped his arms around her, drawing her closer and closed his eyes. He rested his head on her shoulders as he spoke.

“I am glad you are alright, but you cannot…no you will not do this again. I was exceptionally close to losing my own mind. I will admit my actions were somewhat…foolish whilst you were…absent. I realise we are…things are different, but they are also the same as before. Remember that. ” he whispered.

Mentella rested her head on his chest, sighing slightly as she listened to what he had to say. She soon raised her head slightly as he released his hold on her. Mentella smiled at him as her eyes met his own; Psion projected his thoughts and memories to her, including him kicking out the rest of the sisterhood members out of the mansion, speaking to Delta and assisting Psirus as well as his clash with Sarah a few days earlier as well as his thoughts about The Psychic Coven. She nodded as she viewed them one by one, her somewhat stern expression remaining the same as she considered them.

“Is Psirus alright?” she asked.

“From what I determined, he is well. Although I did suggest he remains vigilant in the future, the attack was not a one off. But that is something I am sure he can deal with, with the help from his team. If I am honest…I was entirely surprised to receive a request from them. I suspect that had more to do with your absence, than a need for my assistance. Enough talk of others…tell me my al’skiine, what are your thoughts on my insights into The Psychic Coven?” Psion replied.

“I am aware they want to kill us, I have no issue dispatching them. Do you?” she mused.

A devilish grin spread across Psion’s face as he replied.

“I was concerned…but now you are here…well…I have never had the opportunity to destroy an entire organization but there is a first time for everything.”

Mentella rolled her eyes and shook her head slightly as a small smile graced her lips.

“I need to speak with everyone, J’asira’s just arrived with Jane and I have some new information about the Psychic Coven. It will be to everyone’s benefit to know what our plan of action is.” Mentella stated.

Psion nodded, stepping back and turned around. He dismissed the telekinetic construct obstructing the doorway and walked out of the room with Mentella, a smug expression on his face as they walked together towards the library.

Psion frowned, pausing as he descended the steps.

“Oh by the way, have you spoken to your sister? Since she is in Chicago, I suspect she will not be able to make this meeting?” he asked.

“Yes, I’ve taken care of that already, she is aware of my plan.”

Psion nodded, his content expression reappeared on his face as they finished walking down the steps and crossed the grand foyer towards the corridors leading to the library. They stepped into the room to see J’asira, Sarah, Jane and Sai’edra talking whilst they waited. Before Mentella was able to speak, Sai’edra’s Delta com-link flashed several times; the red light indicating urgency. Sai’edra picked up the com-link, clipping it onto her ear as she answered it.

“Hi Sarge, Joule here. Yes…alright…I’m on my way.” she answered.

Her expression apologetic as she looked at Mentella.

<Think nothing of it. He needs your help right now, I can fill you in at a later date.> ~ Mentella.

Sai’edra nodded and smiled as she left the group. She ran out of the library, her run soon turning into flight as she flew out of the mansion. Moments later she re-appeared beside Psion, looking up at him expectantly. He looked down and frowned at her expression until she directed his attention at the telekinetic dome shielding the mansion.

“Well?” she frowned.

“Apologies.”

Psion’s eyes glowed briefly and there was an audible shifting sound that occurred around the mansion as he dismissed the dome; the dome’s disappearance was soon followed by the soft sound of rain. Sai’edra thanked him and left. Mentella turned to the rest of the group, now sitting by the fire place.

Mentella sighed as she sat down; frowning as Psion all but plastered himself onto her as he sat next to her.

“I’ll answer all your questions in due time, but first you all need to be aware of some new information regarding The Psychic Coven…”

SUMMERSTONE MANSION – MENTELLA’S OFFICE

-SEVERAL DAYS LATER-

Sai’edra stood outside Mentella’s office, silently wondering if she’d cause offense by requesting what she had in mind. She closed her eyes and sighed, extending her hand towards the door, touching it lightly as the door opened, revealing the white marble floor of the office space and Mentella sitting at her desk, scrolling through several different holo-displays. She looked up, the perpetually stern expression on her face softening into a smile as she saw Sai’edra. She rose from her desk and gestured to the two seats at a table a few feet away.

“Sai’edra, have a seat.”

Sai’edra sat down, frowning as she met Mentella’s gaze, concern evident on her features as she leaned forward slightly.

“What can I do for you?” Mentella asked.

Sai’edra took a deep breath and cleared her throat.

“Before I tell you, I just want to say, I am incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done for me and I really hope what I’m about to ask doesn’t offend you. I’ve…been thinking about the psychic shielding you placed in my mind several months ago...” stated Sai’edra.

Mentella nodded slightly, acknowledging what she had said and motioned for her to continue.

“…I’ve been speaking to Jayson and Jimar, the empaths and they explained to me that they…well…Jayson uses emotions in order to generate constructs in order to fight. Well, my psychic shielding prevents him from using that ability when around me. So I want to help a little more and have it removed not only so I can assist him if were all in a situation fighting Destroids or Fox-battle bots or something similar, which actually seems to be on the increase, but also to take care of myself more...if you see what I mean.” explained Sai’edra.

She looked up to see Mentella’s slight frown as she considered Sai’edra’s words. Mentella met Sai’edra’s eyes and nodded.

“I have no issue with what you are saying; it is your mind after all. I do understand where you are coming from; you want to feel more independent, less reliant on others. I was expecting you to approach me about this sooner or later as it does translate as a step in the right direction towards your personal growth. My only advice would be to put the advanced mental defence training you received to good use whilst in a combat situation with Mr. Grayling, in the event that your enemy attempts to attack your mind. I would also suggest that you keep your mental shields up when in a situation where Mr. Grayling does not require your emotions to fuel or boost his abilities.” Mentella replied.

Sai’edra released a breath she didn’t realise she was holding in and smiled. She relaxed back into her chair and closed her eyes as she felt Mentella working on her mind, deconstructing the psychic barrier.
