"Even if its people hate me...
Even if my name is spit on in the streets...
Philly is still my home. And I... Bryce Jackson Jones...
WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY MY TOWN."
- Bryce declaring his intention to protect Philadelphia from his vampiric brethren
Tyrell "Bryce" Jackson Jones is a High Tier S+ Ranked Auxiliary Shadow of the Black Legion Organization, reporting to Aaron Hope. Bryce operates under the codename Hellsing, and is among one of the strongest Auxiliary Shadows in the entire organization.
As the biological son of the late gang member Tevin "The Machine Gun" Jones and Eliza Hellsing, Bryce is half human and half vampire, his vampire side coming from his mother, who is revealed to be the original bride of the legendary Count Dracula, the strongest Vampire in history.
A dedicated patriot in his version of Philadelphia, Bryce went by the nickname The Hero of Philadelphia, due to his involvement in the violent protests against the government, who oppressed his people. Though Bryce suffered severe controversy and backlash due to his violent actions which caused the rift to grow even deeper between law enforcement and his people, Bryce returned to Philadelphia to fight off his mother, Eliza Hellsing, working alongside the people of Philadelphia to protect their hometown. Following Bryce's victory against the vampires, Bryce's relationship with his fellow Philadelphians was restored, and became known as The Champion of Philadelphia.
Appearance
"
Sarah: You're actually not that bad looking, in my opinion.
Bryce: That's what I've been saying! Why haven't I gotten laid yet?!
Sarah: That's... probably why."
Bryce is a tall slender young man of mixed descent, as he is technically half Scottish and half African-American. However, his appearance bears a striking similarity to his father, Tevin Jones. Bryce possesses shoulder-length dreadlocks which fray outwards in an unkempt manner, and occasionally wears a pair of earrings. Bryce inherited his mother's green eyes, which sometimes transition to blood-red whenever he channels his vampiric powers.
When attending school and most of his casual life, Bryce is almost always seen wearing a green jacket of varying designs with a red scarf. During missions, Bryce wears a Philadelphia Eagles varsity jacket along with a red hoodie but may swap the hoodie out for a scarf depending on the occasion.
During his final battle against his mother and their vampiric brethren, Bryce took his father's scarf and wore it like a bandanna. Following the events of the battle, Bryce is seen with a large bat strapped to his back. The bat was revealed to represent the warriors of Philadelphia, decorated with the signatures of the people who fought alongside Bryce in their desperate battle to protect the town from the vampires.
At the start of He Saves Gods as a Man II, Bryce is seen wearing a black Victorian Era cloak on top of his varsity jacket, however, the cloak was abandoned as it served no functional purpose aside from, in Bryce's words, "adding rizz".
As expected from his vampiric physiology, Bryce's teeth has been seen to transition to fangs, however, Bryce rarely shows these fangs unless in combat or for intimidation, as seen when Bryce threatened to bite Robbie Fernandez for "snitching on the boys" during his and Aaron's voyeurism of Outer Shadow Vicki Harriet.
Personality
"Who said you get to nap?
I'M the one who puts you to sleep!"
- Bryce Jones vs. Rya the Lightgiver
Bryce is notoriously hotblooded, reckless, and bold in the way he presents himself. Of all the Auxiliary Shadows under Aaron's command, Bryce is considered the most wild, due to his overconfidence in his abilities as well as his self-image. Having been raised in his alternate version of Philadelphia's urban sector, Bryce was heavily influenced by gang culture, which was often reflected by his jargon. Greatly inspired by his father, Tevin Jones, Bryce felt obligated to join in the frequent attacks against law enforcement, who oppressed his people due to their ethnicity.
During the events of He Saves Gods as a Man, it was revealed that Bryce's biracial ethnicity caused numerous controversies among his peers. Being half Scottish from his mother's side, Bryce suffered from routine bullying, which caused Bryce to feel a contractual obligation to overly express his African-American side, in a manner that many described as "wannabe black". Bryce's behavior was received poorly, which led many to describe his actions as "corny".
Despite these shortcomings, Bryce's eagerness to stand against the oppression benefited both himself and the people of Philadelphia. Because of his strong sense of brotherhood, something inherited from his father, Bryce is extremely courageous, borderline dangerous, jumping into the line of fire without hesitation. A notable example of this was during a shooting between a police faction and numerous gangs who attempted to keep the officers from arresting a group of innocent civilians, Bryce hijacked a police vehicle and drove the car into the line of fire, providing cover for his comrades to recover the arrested individuals.
Bryce's recklessness and overconfidence finally led to their destructive consequences during his duel against Rya the Lightgiver, an Ancient Celestial who had a ranking of Elite Tier S+, which surpassed Bryce's power. Despite Aaron warning him of his disadvantage, Bryce's arrogance caused him to proceed with the battle, in which Bryce approached the fight with severe overconfidence, gloating about his newfound vampiric powers and claiming that he was now at the same fighting ability as the God Eater. Even when Rya began overwhelming Bryce, inflicting severe wounds on him, Bryce still refused to accept Aaron's help, instead, stubbornly continuing the fight even when his life was in extreme danger.
"Bryce: Heheheheh... inspect all you like, Miss! Hell, I'll let ya inspect me all night!
Sigurd: You are extremely unathletic. Lazy. Poor hygiene, and inferiority complex on the size of your own genitalia. You rely heavily on your metahuman ability to generate entropic energy from your cells. Defeating you follows a trivial procedure.
Aaron: *Laughs* Bro just saw God after that roast!!!"
- Bryce's attempts at flirting with Annie backfiring
Bryce's personality has been described by many of his female colleagues as "colorful", due to his lack of societal filters and speaking his own mind. Depending on the degree of attraction Bryce holds to someone, the way he addresses them could occasionally be over the top, as his first interaction with his new colleague at the time, Annelise Scarlet, involved him revealing his fetish of being "inspected" by women. Other times, Bryce's snarky attitude has served as a tool that he has used in battle, intimidating, or even outright causing his opponents to lose their composure at his ridiculousness. Due to his unpredictable and volatile nature, Bryce's personality meshes well with Aaron's troublemaker personality, leading to the two frequently getting into tons of mischief together, much to the disappointment of the girls on their team.
In spite of his less-than-dignifying traits, Bryce holds a strong sense of dedication to his friends. Bryce has been described to be loyal and noble when it counts, sometimes in questionable ways, an example being Bryce's attempt to cheer Aaron up by inviting the Outer Shadow to engage in the voyeurism of the voluptuous Vicki Harriet. However, at other times, Bryce has shown to be genuine, especially when Aaron had lost to Jekyll and ended up having his daughter kidnapped by the God of Warfare; Bryce wrote a personal heartfelt letter to his Outer Shadow, begging Aaron to not push himself too hard.
