Bluebird is the costumed identity of Olivia Ellison, MBA, member of a famed hotelier family, and Congressional aspirant. Early Life

Childhood

Olivia Ellison was born in 1997, a member of the same family of Ellison Hotels fame. Growing up, Olivia was a quiet, sensitive child who rarely got to see children her own age outside of school. She lived in the family residence in Nassau County, NY, which had its own private beach on the Atlantic shore. Her sister, White Star, was her primary companion. Though Sarah seemed a 'bad girl' who was always in trouble with their parents, the two got along well, yet they had very separate interests. Olivia tended to be bookish, inclined to collect sea shells, go birdwatching, or use her telescope at night to watch the sky, or observe passing ships. She enjoyed boating, but only got to do so when her father was home, which was infrequent due to his jetsetting lifestyle.

High school for Olivia was at a prestigious boarding school for girls. When she received her first car as a gift from her parents at age 16, she drove home one night to find her father having an affair. It shook, but didn't break, her respect for her father, and at once realized a reason that Sarah looked noticeably different from her: Sarah was born from another of her father's dalliances. She understood, too, why her parents always seemed so hard on Sarah, but were comparatively kind to Olivia.

Young Adulthood

As Sarah was somewhat out of favor with her parents, Olivia was groomed to be the natural successor to the family hotel dynasty. After finishing her BA in Psychology from Columbia University, to which she easily commuted, she was enrolled in Harvard Business School. For two years, she moved to Boston and lived in an apartment.

Upon graduation as an MBA, Olivia returned to the family home on Long Island, and regularly stayed at the family's suite at the Ellison Hotel in Manhattan, as she enjoyed the New York arts culture.

The Crime Fighter

Kidnapping

Olivia was kidnapped by the supervillain Cyber-Slash, who had discovered that the secret identity of Night Star (then called White Star) was Sarah Ellison, the infamous socialite. In kidnapping Olivia, Cyber-Slash intended to leverage Sarah to help her break into the UN's highly-secured headquarters in New York City, bypass the many security protocols in place, and acquire a list of UNTIL-registered superhumans and their secret identities. This was partly revenge for White Star helping to expose Cyber-Slash's identity to the authorities. Olivia's quiet and soft-spoken nature helped cut through Cyber-Slash's layers of anger, which made it easier for Cyber-Slash to surrender later after White Star foiled the attempted intrusion at the UN.

Olivia was unharmed, and left the experience with the knowledge that her sister was a masked hero, and left her wondering if she could manage to be, too.

Training to be Bluebird

Olivia took her training very seriously, but did so in secret, knowing that Sarah would never approve. Working from the family home on Long Island, she had a personal trainer who worked on her physical fitness and self-defense.

To gain some distance from the watchful eye of her parents and their associates, Olivia moved to Millennium City to try her hand as a street-level crime fighter. Donning tights and a mask, and calling herself 'Bluebird, she enjoyed some initial success dealing with the usual riffraff. Bluebird was capable of stopping a few muggings, intimidation rackets, and break-ins. Unfortunately, she got in over her head when she tried to foil a bank robbery, and was overwhelmed by their unexpected combat skill. Captured by gangsters intent on executing her by drowning her in the river, Bluebird was rescued by Red Spider.

Red Spider learned her secret identity, and tried to dissuade Olivia from further forays as Bluebird, but Olivia gave Red Spider an ultimatum: she would continue to operate as Bluebird, with or without Red Spider's help, but without, she was sure to fail. Red Spider was caught in a difficult situation - she knew her Adventurers teammate Night Star (Sarah Ellison) would never approve of Olivia becoming a costumed crime fighter, but she knew first-hand the dangers of operating as a costumed crime fighter without guidance.

Thus began Bluebird's apprenticeship to Red Spider, but in secret from Night Star.
