Living a double life isn't easy, especially for a Galactic Lostfinder on the run from his home planet. He swears he's innocent, but isn't that what everyone says? Gradient is a veteran of some of the worst scum holes and death pits that the galaxy has to offer, and he always brought in his man, and always solved the case. Well, at least until he ticked *someone off* and suddenly he's framed with the murder of his client and on the run.

Gradient's trying to pick up the pieces on earth. They call them 'Detectives' here. Okay, same old, same old. He's renamed his assistance Huey and Dewy, no one here speaks mother Galaxian. He landed his ship on the moon and put it to work building out a base and getting a teleport line planetside. UNTIL came knocking on his door, and it seemed like the bad days again, but all they wanted was to know who he was and what he was up to . So he came up with a human for as a street vendor -- Loyd Bowman.

Despite all that, Earth makes sense to Gradient -- they got their scum, their rum and their dregs -- crooked cops, and even more crooked politicians. Its a place he knows well, and this stuff they call 'Bourbon' isn't so bad.

At the same time, he's got a soft spot in his heart for those not as jaded as himself. Paragon was trying to live a double life, and gonna get herself caught if he hadn't taken her under his wing. She's a little too straight-laced, not to mention a little too Tsarian, but she's the last one, so that counts for something, even when she divides up the moon base because she keeps her side 'clean'

Gradient is registered with UNTIL as Loyd Bowman. But he also set himself up as Steven Fowler, a teacher at Ravenswood, just in case UNTIL decides not to play so nice. So a double life is now a triple life as a vendor, a detective and a school teacher.
