Psilas

Psilas is a student at Halcyon Academy.
History
Born the youngest child of a large and poor family, Silas never felt like he could get enough attention from others. No matter how hard he tried, and no matter how impressive things were he did, there just wasn't enough time for his family to recognize it. Both of his parents worked two jobs a piece, and many of his siblings did as well, all in an effort to support their family. Left to his own devices much of the time, Silas quickly began skipping school and spending his days doing what he felt was the most important things in the world: surfing and playing arcade games.
Silas' powers manifested when he was fifteen when he saved two people from drowning after they were caught by a strong undertow in the ocean. However, due to events afterwards, he has no recollecation of this first time using his abilities and figures that he's always had his powers. Silas' mind is also fractured with a split personality that he communicates with sometimes, the part of him that knows how to use his abilities and also lacks any moral compass. It is no surprise that Silas soon began getting himself into trouble, picking the pockets of people on the streets with his telekinesis and using his telepathy to cheat at games or make his teachers give him all passing grades at the school he no longer even bothered showing up for.
His actions gained the attention of PRIMUS soon after, and Mayte Sanchez and other Silver Avengers were dispatched to handle the situation. Once they captured Silas, who led them on a long chase throughout Miami, Mayte made a deal with him. In exchange for not being arrested, he would agree to attend Halcyon Academy, a school that was soon opening with the goal of helping super powered children lead good lives through proper education and instruction. Silas agreed, even though he hated the very idea of it, and stated that he had no intention of letting this school make a hero out of him.
Silas was one of the first batch of students to enroll at Halcyon Academy, and despite his anger over being forced to attend, he slowly began to open up to his classmates and even began to make a few friends. His irresponsible behaviour has landed him in hot water a number of times with the Academy staff, though his rebelliousness is more of that of a normal teenager these days. Silas will admit he's tempted still to go back to his old life, that he hates it when he winds up in a role where he has to play hero and save other people, but as time wears on, his protests become less enthusiastic. The voice in his head, that Silas keeps a secret from everyone at the school, is losing its influence on his actions, and isn't happy in the least bit. This voice has plans of its own now, unknown to anyone, even Silas himself.
Perhaps given more time, Silas will someday become the superhero he is meant to be.
Powers
Silas is both telekinetic and telepathic. While his potential is extreme, he has only managed a very limited degree of control over his abilities. Reading other people's thoughts or communicating telepathically requires extreme effort, and so too does his ability to knock others unconscious with bursts of psionic energy. Telekinesis is slightly easier for him, but he has yet to move anything heavier than a schoolbook. The only area he is able to excell at currently is the creation of force fields, for himself, for others, or in the form of 'force punches' he hurls at his opponents. Unknown to Silas, the voice in his mind is holding back his growth in an attempt to keep control over him, and it is likely that his abilities could expand.

Psilas is a student at Halcyon Academy, the founder of the Journalism Club, and a member of the Outdoors Activities Club, the Gay-Straight Alliance, and the Host Club.
