It is stated that different Rave copies if separated too long develops different characteristics. Negative Rave is the copy of Rave that got lost in the Shadow Vine dimension. He consume all the evil in that realm and later returns as the evil inside Rave that manifest. Now forcing Rave to physically fight his own self in one of the later chapters.
