Wielding both magic and melee weapons and swapping between the two fluidly defines the spellblade's combat style. Kagewoe is an irregular who prefers to get up close and slash, viewing his magic merely as supplementary to his melee combat. While data suggests he is a dark mage who learned to use blades, he has displayed several anomalies in his abilities that suggest he is hiding most of his actual abilities and power, and may have been something other than just a mage. He appears to have some rules he goes by, but for the most part pays lip-service to them.
"Mage? Spellblade? Whichever label you want to use works."
Psycho-Pass - Kagewoe's theme. The mercenary is calm in almost every situation, showing minor traces of emotion at the most normally.
Cerberus Battle - Kagewoe's combat theme. While he tries to avoid getting involved in combat, the former mercenary's as cold-blooded as they come when forced to draw his weaponry.
There are few files regarding Kagewoe's past. The earliest information regarding him dates back to five years ago. After that the trail goes cold. There are many rumors and stories regarding his activities, ranging from being murdered by his allies only to return as a vengeful artifact to taking down metahumans considered far more powerful than himself. Each story more fanciful than the last, so telling fact from fiction is difficult, if there is any truth to these tales.
The files that do exist show that Kagewoe has been on and off the field repeatedly over the last five years, each time appearing under the employ of a new master and wearing an updated armor. Those that have worked with the mercenary typically regarded him as a monster that preferred to work by himself, cutting down whoever that stood in his path.
The mercenary was properly registered into Until databanks after an incident in which Kagewoe was charged for the homicide of an Until squad and subsequently cleared of suspicion. His activities are now monitored for the world to see.. when he ever leaves the comfort of the couch.

After attempting to retire, Kagewoe found himself on the field again. Not for money this time, but for technology and to keep himself busy. At an associate's request, he to Canada to retrieve information from a recently downed sattelite and from Telios's compound. Upon arriving the mercenary immediately got to work, knowing that the sooner he finished, the sooner he could leave the frigid wastes. Within four hours he had located the remains of the sattelite and had taken the chips with the information he wanted, then began walking towards Telios's tower.
After an hour of trudging through the snow, the mercenary arrived at the edge of a cliff facing Telios's Tower. "This'll be a pain. Same as usual." the mercenary grumbled, already in a poor mood thanks to the biting cold. With that he confirmed the coordinates and teleported from the cliff's edge to the side of the tower, then cut a hole in the side and slipped in. After dusting himself off and looking around for security, the mercenary set off to explore the madman's tower.
The mercenary was approached by Until with a request to participate in Operation Demonflame. Initially he slammed the door in their faces, but eventually agreed after they offered him a piece of technology that had just left testing phases. Upon agreeing he met up with the group that was assigned to the mission and proceeded to enter the portal. Upon arrival on the other side the group split up, Kagewoe immediately heading for the libary of the Queen Beyond the Pale, leaving the others to their fates without a second thought.
Upon entering the library of the Queen Beyond the Pale, Kagewoe paused to look around. "Quite the collection. All of knowledge man isn't supposed to know." he thought, gazing at the ancient tomes. His HUD updated him with the twists and turns of the maze-like library as the group progressed deeper. The mercenary idly dragged a metal-tipped claw along the shelves as they walked, scraping the aged wood. "It's amusing to think that others would sell themselves for this, yet it's within my grasp at no price." he mused to himself.
Upon approaching the sealed room housing the avatar, Kagewoe muttered the words to undo the seal and kicked a stray imp into the nearby wall as he walked forward to confront the mad jester guarding the Queen. "Target aquired." Two cracked, metal claw weapons formed in his hands, shining with a green light between the cracks. "Are you after knowledge, hero? You can take all you wish from the library so long as she's held here." Jack Fool cackled, then was silenced as the mercenary leveled a claw at him without another word. The joker was forced to quickly draw his blade as the mercenary suddenly vanished, appearing behind him as the claws came down at the back of his neck. "All die, Jack Fool. Now, it is your turn."
"Show no mercy to your foes, as they will show none to you."
Kagewoe is calm and somewhat friendly when approached, though he'll rarely initiate a conversation. He appears almost completely passive most of the time, preferring for others to take charge of situations and just observe. After certain events, the mercenary has regained his old will and personality, and harbors a resentment towards the world that tried to break him and then abandoned him. He now delights in watching the suffering of those around him, though he appears to show consideration for certain individuals.
Regeneration - Kagewoe has heavily modified his body with cybernetics to increase his regeneration. While the circuits inside him were crippled for a while after being overloaded with energy, he has set them to run by draining the energy he absorbs from his meta ability and his dark magic in emergency situations. The circuits also have an emergency fail-safe, which forces him to regenerate fast enough that he can survive almost anything short of obliteration, though the extreme drain slows him down afterwards.
Infernal Sigils - He has received infernal sigils from Erinaziel. The sigils are located on the underside of his forearms and glow with an orange light when he starts using them. When activated, the sigils allow him to take infernal energy from Erinaziel and use it for himself. The armor uses the energy to repair far more rapidly than it normally does, and Kagewoe himself receives a boost in speed and strength.
Dark Magic - Kagewoe's a specialist in the magic department. He's forsaken spells like curses or large attack spells in order to concentrate on the manipulation of space. He uses his magic to create subspace storage pockets around his body, in which he stores his non-meta weaponry, and for short-range movement. The energies in the subspace rip apart all organic matter that enters, including him, so he can't enter subspace for long. He has also displayed some other spells and magical abilities, though it is questionable as to if they were truly dark magic spells. Of note, he has shown to be capable in creating illusions to manipulate others and torment them mentally.
Fear Manipulation - Kagewoe has learned that he has a limited type of matter manipulation, possibly due to his temporary demonization in a previous incident. Since then he has experimented and woven it into his combat style. Kagewoe can use the emotion of fear from those around him and his own fears and doubts to create temporary "Fear Weapons", weapons of a special metal which he uses in combat as blades and claws. He has modified his regeneration circuits to run off the energy the ability generates. He can disintegrate the weapons to recapure the majority of the energy used in their creation, making this power extremely efficient.
"There is no good or evil. There are only conflicting ideals."
Custom Armor - Crafted personally by Kagewoe, the armor is composed of a fibrous compound that is equal to Khendrium in durability, but is light and flexible. The armor's been linked to the regeneration circuits and can repair itself by feeding off of Kagewoe's energy. The current model sports a small jetpack, allowing him to slow his descent from great heights, but it lacks the thrust for actual liftoff. The horns on his helmet are there as reminder to his foes that they faced not a normal human, but a creature born to fight.
Claw Weapons - Not a true piece of equipment, Kagewoe creates these using his meta ability to forge them on the spot. They are nearly as sharp as questionite-edged counterparts, and due to their nature have the ability to regenerate if damaged.
V-5 Vibroblaster Sniper - Created and improved on from VIPER plans of a similar rifle. Kagewoe brings it out when he needs to pop a skull open at a distance.
Pistols - Another pair of weapons he created, Kagewoe occasionally uses customized pistols to take on opponents at short range. They have been reinforced with Khendrium to withstand punishment better.
Custom Medication - Kagewoe has created two types of custom medication, an intense painkiller and a pill that forces the body's cells to kick into overdrive and divide rapidly, lowering recovery time from injuries. He keeps a very small stockpile in subspace. Recovery time varies depending on who takes it, but it effectively doubles the rate of cell division.
"There is no such thing as absolute strength. There will always be a weakness that can be exploited."
Self-Reliance - Kagewoe's biggest flaw is he refuses to lean on others when he needs to, as his distrust of those around him lends him to believing they would deceive him.
Arrogant - After his memories were altered to return his mind to normal, he has regained his old overconfidence. He now views everything as a game, and shows little to no respect for most individuals. This lends him to underestimating opponents, giving them opportunities a normal opponent would rarely allow.
Ignorant - Spending his early years fighting turned Kagewoe into a battlefield terror, but also stole his ability to read others. He also is unfamiliar with many things others deem normal parts of their lives, due to never using them on the battlefield.
Cold - Kagewoe's cold tolerance is lower than a normal human's. His armor compensates for it, but leaves him at having only slightly better resistance than a normal human. A cold environment is a sure way to make him miserable and those that can manipulate temperature can easily lock him down or disable him.
Water - The armor's weight prevents him from being able to swim. In order to move around in an aquatic environment, Kagewoe has to use a special armor with a turbine attached. When not wearing that specific armor, he sinks like a stone.
Shard of the Lost - A small crystal he wore around his neck often, now replaced by a skull pendant. Upon activation, it would shield him and those he considered his allies from harm for a brief duration.
Shadow Greatsword - An weapon he was granted the ability to summon by Erinaziel, it is a large black blade that seems to absorb the light around it. Despite it seeming sharp, he isn't used to wielding heavier weaponry, using his reliable claws and clawtips instead. The weapon lacks a name, as the mercenary refuses to name any weapon he obtains.
Statuette of Ethon - This small statuette, seemingly composed of ruby, was a 'gift' by an associate. Little did Kagewoe know that the thing was capable of movement. He can't seem to get rid of it no matter how he tries. It's always there in the apartment, watching..
Zurine - The first person to approach him without the goal of hiring him, they have quickly become close. The couple married in May of 2013, after which the mercenary became almost completely inactive, preferring to spend time with his family. Zurine keeps track of Kagewoe, and does her best to keep him from pulling stupid stunts.
Chompy - Zurine's pet shark, who has been given the ability to swap between a raptor form and his normal shark form. He and the cat in the apartment have a mutual agreement to not steal each other's food. Kagewoe considers him a family member and not a pet.
Leon - They fought alongside each other during an ancient war, but each took their own path in life after the war ended. Their paths have crossed again in the most unexpected of ways, with Kagewoe meeting up with Leon's past self. Kagewoe's present is Leon's past, and Leon's future is Kagewoe's past. Neither thinks too much of it, in order to avoid the headaches that would result.
Brutum - The second person Kagewoe has ever even considered going full throttle against, Brutum is a hulking giant with unrivaled durability and power. Despite them unfortunately ending up on opposite sides in many situations, there is a mutual respect for each other's strength. Kagewoe considers him a good business partner, and the two chat occasionally when the situation allows it.
Triaria - Zurine's cyborg friend, who occasionally visits to show off her newest advances in technology. She's extremely protective of her friend, and by extention, her friend's friends. She and Kagewoe express differing views on the moral limits of what should be done with technology, but otherwise get along.
Veroga - An ill-tempered mercenary who thinks nothing of slaughtering civilians. The two don't agree on how to handle missions, with Kagewoe advocating avoidance of involving others and Veroga's slaughter of any that get in his way of completing a mission. He is one of the few that Kagewoe actively dislikes. Despite this, they have a mutual agreement to not terminate the other.
