Wildfire is a relatively new hero operating out of Westside. Originally a low-level street punk, she was taken under Defender's wing and trained to be a superhero.
History
Early life
From birth, Reilly Overbeck was a troubled child. The reincarnation of a powerful demon, her pyrokinetic abilities manifested immediately after birth, killing her mother and several doctors in the emergency room. The horror and despair of being a single parent to a superpowered monster broke her father, leaving him a drunken, uncaring mess. Forced to take care of herself at an early age, Reilly didn't have much of a childhood. What little free time she had was spent immersed in comics.
Inspired by the adventures of The Champions, and other superpowered crimefighters, Reilly dreamed of becoming a famous hero fighting superpowered villains and saving the day. Unfortunately, the dream was slowly forgotten as she found herself dragged into a life of crime. Kicked from her home and forced to wander the streets, Reilly fell into gang life, becoming a lowly thug in order to survive the dangers of Westside. Though her life was spiraling out of control, hope emerged in the form of a legendary hero.
Troublemaker Turned Hero
After a heist at Harmon Labs went wrong, Reilly was abandoned by her fellow gangsters and left to face the stalwart Defender alone. Scared, but unwilling to back down, the two fought briefly. It was this moment that set her on the path to realizing her childhood dream of becoming a hero. In the chaos of the battle, Reilly managed to ignite a nearby gas tank, causing it to detonate. The resulting explosion left her and Defender caught under rubble and machinery. As the lab quickly burned around them, Reilly realized what she had done and, in a selfless act, dragged an unconscious Defender out of the debris to safety.
In the end, Reilly willingly turned herself in, prepared to face the consequences of her actions. Set to be transferred to the superpowered mega prison Stronghold, Reilly was spared a terrible fate by non other than Defender, who negotiated a lighter punishment for the wayward youth. Sentenced to 8 months in juvenile detention and mandatory community service overseen by Defender himself, Reilly was taken under his wing and trained to fight crime instead of create it. Despite the circumstances, Reilly was happy to turn her life around and finally achieve her dream of becoming a Superhero.
No longer a lowly street rat, Reilly fell into the role of peacekeeper with no issue. As the fiery superhero Wildfire, Reilly made it her mission to clean up the streets of Westside and help others like her rise above and become something greater.
Present Day
Now an adult and fully fledged superhero, Reilly continues to patrol the streets and fight crime. With notable roles in the fight against the invading Qularr and Mechanon's Steel Crusade, Wildfire has become a symbol of hope to the downtrodden people of Westside, as proof that, no matter how dark things may seem, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Although Wildfire has come into her own as a superhero, she continues to stay in contact with Defender and The Champions from time to time, acting as a liaison for Millennium City's often forgotten neighborhoods.
