History
The young Vespidian who would later become known as 'Honeycombando' started life birthed from the then-current Vespidian Queen's egg along with thousands of his brothers and sisters on the Vespidian Homeworld (whose name is a smell like a particularly moody plum pudding). The Birth Day, a major global event, had an entire industry focused on raising the latest batch of children in a comfortable environment where they would be educated and released to the world upon coming of age. He was selected to join the Paper Caste and was sent out to the city-colony whose name smelled exactly like chilled grape vapors to work building.
But soon this did not satisfy the young, curious Vespidian; he opted to take further education in chemistry, learning about the importance of glucose in his society and learning of the stories of expedition teams that would travel the galaxy in search of the precious stuff. Ever since he was a kid, he dreamed of exploration and adventure, discovering new places and doing battle with fearsome creatures. He became determined to get on one of these teams. To prove his worth, he started his own experiments to try and increase the efficiency of the energy extraction process from glucose. One fateful night, a new compound he created was struck by nuclear-lightning that sometimes plagued this side of the Homeworld while sitting out for transport - and the unsuspecting yet thirsty Vespidian consumed a canister!
After severe loss of bowel control and a brief period of unconsciousness, he awoke to find that he was incredibly quick on his feet and could lift a whole transport truck! Putting two and two together, he managed to recreate the experiment - and impress his superiors with the fact he could make himself a supervespidian. Much to his delight, he was accepted for an exploration position, and launched off. It was perhaps fate again that caused him to land on Earth and have a brief encounter with some superheroes. Having learned of Earth culture extensively, and struck by their dedication to their duty, something ignited within him. Reasoning that puns were the height of Earth humor, he took the name Honeycombando and pledged to battle evil and help others - either on his new second home or in the depths of space!
Personality
Due to his relative age and upbringing, Honeycombando is relatively naive yet full of enthusiasm. He does not yet see the world through jade-colored glasses, nor does he tend to dwell on pessimism. One might see him as a bit of a manchild due to a love of sugary foods, finding new ways to have fun or his cheerfulness - but despite the quirky exterior he is a lot more mature than he lets on. Since he comes from a society that heavily focuses on the group or 'the colony' he is very emphatic towards others, and places high value on having a group of friends. When alone he sometimes feels like the universe itself is pressing against him unbearably.
Despite a willingness to get out and fight, he is somewhat timid and unsure of himself, and tends to back down from arguments rather than stick up for himself.
Combat/Powers
Though a chemist, Honeycombando is quite capable of defending himself thanks to a special glucose-based formula that grants him super strength and super agility for up to an hour. The compound itself is inefficient as a fuel source and has no effect on other Vespidians, which indicates he may have undergone some sort of mutation. To capitalize on this he has undergone close combat training with the use of a pair of claws that can become charged with plasma energy - claws he also poisons depending on the threat.
As backup weaponry, he is equipped with a laser rifle all Vespidian glucose-acquisition teams are issued, and he is a good shot with it. He even has a pair of gauntlets that can charge up with energy and unleash it in a massive burst, forming a shield around him for defense. He has a further energy shield for added protection mounted on his left arm.
