Origins

During the end of the industrial age of America, there were a great many people who were beset upon by greedy law makers and business tycoons who had the world for the very taking. American authorities were hard pressed to reconcile and revitalize a nation torn asunder by civil war, and could not spare the manpower or resources to quell these injustices. Most people learned to live by these men's 'rules' or suffer the consequences. Most people.

During these early years, a few hardened individuals took justice upon themselves and the law into their own hands, when they saw that justice could never be had by other means. The birth of a legacy emerged from the ashes and dust of a reeling nation. The Pistolier first emerged as a vigilante in the late Autumn of 1887, when caravaneers and frontiers folk were losing their land and their lives to greedy businessmen and corrupt governmental employees. The rush to collect oil and other resources was a prominent goal for many ambitious businessmen, and they were willing to do a great many evil things in the name of Capitolism. The Pistolier began as one man, but quickly many other men followed the example and took up firearms of their own and stood beside the Pistolier against the cruelty and the ruthlessness of these men. These beleaugered few fought back against the tide of injustice and gave the people hope.

Over the years, the Pistolier took on an apprentice, the fastest and toughest pupil's of the age to carry on the mantle and ensure that a new generation of lawmen was always ready to answer the call of the people. Each new generation of Pistolier adapted new tactics, new techniques and new technologies to further their cause and always strove to adapt to the new world as it too adapted. Pistoliers have sprung up throughout the years since, helping during times of crisis and never staying long to accept thanks or reward. Theirs was a quest of righteousness and spirit, not of fame.

Each Pistolier guards his secret identity carefully, and is loathe to reveal it even to their greatest allies or lovers. They keep their personal lives separate from their vigilante duties and heroics, sparing their loved ones of the burden of their calling.
