John Franklyn Turro is a man of many achievements, but at the price of his age. From high ranking officer serving a total of twenty two years, to CEO of major government contracted weapons, aviation and power armor company, from vigilante, to registered hero and CEO of major medical company, dealing in high tech solutions at affordable costs, while also dealing in virtual reality simulations, artificial intelligence, and civilian aviation. He has recently officially registered as a legitimate hero, going by the alias of Crius. The codename of his power armor.
Some, including himself, may call him a horse-face. Serving for as long as he has where he has comes with a price. He certainly isn't much of a looker, but he makes up for it with his well maintained physique and fine choice of clothing. That is, though, just the outer layer.
His skin, augmented through secret ways, bears a series of glowing lines, much like a suit of power armor on its own. He doesn't reveal much about how or why, choosing to keep such secrets to himself.
His power armor, unlike his suit, clearly show his expertise in the field. A large suit of armor, with glowing lines all over it, and a rather large helmet. The armor looks like it can withstand a lot, and deliver just as much.
Early Life
John was born in 1968 in Maynardville, Tennessee. He is the middle child with an older brother and later on a younger sister, his father a retired Marine who lost his leg in the Vietnam war. His mother kept a shop in town. John was raised to be the military man his father was, but he and his older brother had other plans. As many southerners, especially teenagers, did in the seventies and early eighties, John and his older brother decided to make money, by selling illegal substances. However, when John became of age and the boys were caught, he was offered a way out, while his brother was not. John was offered to join the United States Marine Corps, while his brother was sentenced to three years in prison.
Enlistment
Boot camp was extremely difficult for young John, but he proved to be strong willed, and managed to pass it without incident.
Upon arrival to his first base, he was contacted by a staff sergeants from the USMC STA (Surveillance and Target Acquisition) to become a scout-sniper. John finished his advanced training to become a Scout Sniper, and shortly afterwards a war broke out in the Middle East.
John was among the first to arrive at Operation: Desert Shield, and has stayed there for four years, being among the last to leave. It was there that he first tasted what war was like. And it was there where he first tasted what it means to take another's life.
John became very fond of his job as a sniper.
And some people noticed that.
SpecOps
MarSOC {Marines Special Operation Command} decided to call John home, and send him for advanced training and Officer training. The training was intense, where John learned MMA, advanced tactics and strategy, and advanced weapon skills. He was given the Critical Skills Operator title, and was sent off to become an Officer.
His initial training at the Officer academy was fairly light compared to what he endured so far. John gave it his best, eager to serve his country. He gave himself time for nothing else but that.
As part of his training to become an Officer, John was sent to receive one Bachelor's degree, which he did in Business Management in the South Carolina Military Academy, The Citadel.
The Citadel
John's time in The Citadel was difficult. He took many courses, more than the necessary and bordering on way too much, and managed to achieve satisfactory grades in most of them. He graduated from the Citadel, receiving the heavy class ring. Upon his short leave home before continued training, he visited his father, who taught him a habit that sticks with him until today.
Until now John often knocks his old class-ring twice on wooden surfaces. His father taught him that it hardens the knuckles, making sure they don't break in a fight, and it also serves as knocking on wood for good luck. Because success, as his father taught him, is fifty percent preparation, and fifty percent luck.
