"The pieces have been set. Let us continue this game of transcendent chess, Loyce. For even if my very character is lost as I ascend the rungs of this divine ladder, my faith in my Outer and Auxiliary Shadows shall never go away. Don't you go resetting the game board and the game pieces so soon, you impatient King. For a superhero story to be successful, the author must understand what it means to be a superhero. And once you understand that, the notion of justice becomes so very real and so very inevitable. You seek your demise yet no one has been able to fathom your intentions, but I can. So allow me to help you carry it out."
- Inner Shadow Jun Gasket to Inner Shadow Loyce "Empire" Hal
"I am Inner Shadow Jun Gasket. I am a being who is beyond the gods. And by my will. By my hand. By my mind. You will be my greatest sword. The greatest sword to bring vengeance to those who wronged you. Because bullies suck. And you have been bullied all your life. It is now your turn to turn the tide. Become a symbol of terror to these deities. I will make you the sharpest sword in existence, one who cuts down divine flesh. You will be my Dainsleif."
- Aaron becomes Jun's Outer Shadow
Inner Shadow Gasket, born Ojune Adasket or Jun Gasket to his friends, allies, and enemies, is an incomprehensibly powerful Inner Shadow serving the Black Legion Organisation. Gasket is the superior Inner Shadow to several famous subordinate Shadows, including Aaron "The God Eater" Hope, Saraia "The Blank Saviour" Ultear, Bryce "Hellsing" Jones, and Annelise "TX7F" Scarlet. Three of these subordinate Shadows acquired the legendary SS Rank, all of which surpass S+ Rank despite being Auxiliary and Outer Shadows.
Inner Shadow Gasket is said to be the most intelligent Inner Shadow in the entirety of the Black Legion; his feats are so powerful that they have garnered respect from other Inner Shadows including Slipstream and Reaper. Even the legendary Demon King, Inner Shadow Empire states that of all the members of the Black Legion, Jun is the only being who could match him in a battle of wits and strength.
In the Black Legion, Jun is assigned the rating Elite Tier SS+ Rank, putting him at the same level as Loyce Hal, making him so powerful that even amongst esoterics and beings of higher planes of existence, Gasket is a cut above the rest. Jun is also the titular being "He Who is Beyond the Gods", a parallel to how Aaron is the titular "He Who Kills Gods as a Man".
It would later be revealed that Jun's codename and ranking were falsified and that his true codename in the Black Legion is Inner Shadow Gamemaster as a result of his ability to transcend reality into omnidimensional space, essentially being a Transcendent Being capable of rewriting reality in a manner similar to a "chessboard". Jun's true power would be demonstrated during his game of "divine chess" against Loyce Hal, in which the two would engage in a strategic battle, using planes of reality and existence as "game pieces". As a result of this, Gasket's real ranking was revealed to be Low Tier SSS Rank, putting him at the level of Hakah Mah and Lord Ginga.

Personality
Jun: Finger control. That's by your median nerve.
Aaron: Of course I know that, I'm well versed in human anatomy.
Jun: Notice how you went straight to the subject of human anatomy. When I move my fingers... what do you imagine first? A fist? Or perhaps a gentle head pat, or a mother's touch?
Aaron: I don't get it.
Jun: There's more to bionics than combat, Aaron. It's how you use it. How your brain reacts to it. How your mind reacts to it. Having these implants and being able to control them at an elevated wavelength is just as psychological as it is biological. A mom being able to hold her baby with her own arms for once... or someone being able to hold his or her boyfriend/girlfriend.
- Jun rejects Aaron's request to become cybernetic
When Jun was first introduced in "He Kills Gods as a Man", the Inner Shadow appeared to act very childish, typical of his age at the time. Additionally, Jun also had a rather perverted streak which, to some degree even repulsed his Outer Shadow Aaron Hope, who has been known throughout the series for his satirical and boisterous personality. Jun was also shown to be very possessive of his subordinates and belongings, as shown when the Inner Shadow reacted violently to Hakah Mah's attempts to flirt and "steal Aaron away".
However, as the series progressed it was revealed that behind his childish nature, Jun was extremely mature even amongst his older peers. Throughout "Beyond the Gods", Aaron slowly reveals more about Jun's past and his past interactions with the Inner Shadow, including Jun's decision to deny Aaron's request to have cybernetic implants installed onto his body to achieve S Rank. Jun reasoned that the act of becoming cybernetic was just as ethical as it was practical, and to stress the importance of humanity alongside warfare in his creations - a degree of maturity that greatly contrasts his childish personality that the Inner Shadow first demonstrated at the beginning of the series.
Despite his age, Jun is also extremely wise, far beyond his years, to the point where the other Inner Shadows of the Black Legion frequently console Gasket for guidance, indicating their level of trust in the Inner Shadow's wisdom. When the girls of Azure Academy were incinerated by Inner Shadow Evangelion, Outer Shadow Slipstream immediately pleaded to Jun for help, showing that Jun's expertise far outweighed the impressions put on him due to his age. Inner Shadow Reaper also confirms the degree of respect that Jun holds in the Black Legion when he reveals to Aaron that Jun was considered the "greatest trusted tactician" of the Black Legion.
In spite of his benevolence, Jun still commands a very intimidating aura, which is supplemented by his unfathomable power. If either he, or his subordinates are threatened, Jun can quickly react with great hostility, unsettling even the most powerful of foes. This degree of intimidation was to the point where even Hakah, who was the Black Legion's most powerful Inner Shadow hesitated to continue her teasing of Outer Shadow Dainsleif after Jun threatened to resort to violence.
Powers and Abilities
"Behind every rule is a higher order that can bend it."
- Jun Gasket
Immeasurable Intellect: Jun is among one of the most intelligent characters in the entire Great Akuma continuity, with very few beings surpassing or rivaling the Inner Shadow. It is said that Jun's intelligence was so unfathomable that his own parents had put their child up for adoption, believing Jun to be a "devil child".
Jun's intelligence only continued to undergo explosive development and was considered highly prodigal even in the beginning. According to Aaron, Jun self-taught mathematics, and with this self-acquired knowledge, was able to prove Fermat's Last Theorem, an accomplishment that shocked the entire world. By the time Jun reached three years old, his knowledge of theoretical physics had evolved to the point where he was capable of describing the properties of his universe, unraveling a groundbreaking discovery that his universe was in fact experiencing a phenomenon known as reverse entropy. This would, in effect, completely shatter the world's understanding of thermodynamics, as Jun's discovery negated the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
As Jun's intelligence continued to grow, the Inner Shadow began to tap into other realms beyond mathematics and general theoretical physics, entering the field of engineering, sciences, and even linguistics. As a result, the creations that Jun supplemented alongside his vast knowledge quickly accrued into a tremendous, unfathomable, technological empire completely in the palm of the Inner Shadow's hand.
- Supermassive Dyson Sphere Technology: By harnessing his understanding of his universe, Jun became the first person in history to implement a functional build of the once theoretical megastructure fully. Jun's initial prototype harnessed the full power of his Sun, allowing him to access an immense reserve of energy. After continuous developments, Jun's second prototype would harness the full power of his Solar System, then a galaxy. By the time Jun reached notoriety as an SS+ Ranked Inner Shadow, the young prodigy had fully harnessed the power of his universe, coining the term "Supermassive Dyson Sphere" to describe his signature invention. The implications of such a technology are monumental, as by being able to fully control the energy of his universe, Jun is also capable of fully manipulating the mass and energy of virtually any entity, be it matter or even dark matter, with no restraints.
- Nth Dimensional Transcendence: The bulk of Jun's technology lies on his fundamental and understanding of transcendence, in a sense, it can be said that Jun's understanding of the reality around him had far surpassed the traditional three-dimensional space. By continuously developing his intelligence, Jun revealed to Aaron that he had obtained the ability to transcend dimensions, allowing him to access a plane of existence known as his cyberspace, a plane where he was capable of controlling time. As a result of Jun's constant dimensional transcendence has been coined the term "Nth", indicating that the level of dimensions that Jun's intelligence has transcended currently has no limit and is uncountable, potentially amounting to billions and beyond.
- Pocket Dimension: "Jun's World": A separate plane of existence that Jun uses to house his machine kingdom. The world is essentially an unlimited expanse, divided into cities housing nations. The size of the cities was so gargantuan that one city alone was enough to house the entirety of the Champions Universe. The robustness of the realm was also strong enough to resist the Anti-Narrative, albeit suffering from severe damage from Aran's influence. Jun's World also provided a mode for Jun to work on his projects with virtually no constraints due to his Supermassive Dyson Sphere technology enclosing the expanse.
- Advanced Technological Empire: The degree to which Jun has developed his engineering power has since grown exponentially, with the complexity and strength of his creations causing many to initially believe Jun was capable of technomancy. However, the truth was far from it, as the mechanical beings that reside in his pocket dimension were from his own designs and engineering skills. Jun's technological empire spans from powerful aircraft to military sentries, to even massive gargantuan mechanical beasts, such as the Guardians of The Citadel, each being at least S Rank in power.
The Dogma of Equivalent Exchange: In addition to his inherent intelligence, Jun is further enhanced by the powers of The Great Akuma by proxy of the Dogma. The exchange required to initiate the Dogma Bargain has not been disclosed, but it can be surmised that the affiliated sacrifice is immense due to the level of power Jun possessed prior to initiating the Dogma Bargain. As a result of his affiliation with Lord Ginga, the natural restraints of the Dogma Bargain have been shattered, allowing Jun to tap into even greater variants of the powers of the Akuma. Jun is currently capable of accessing two Levels of the Dogma.
- Level 1 Hachi: Jun is an Akuma Grade Dogma Holder, meaning he manifests a direct aspect of the Akuma herself, while also making Jun one of the core members of the Six Gods of the Akuma needed to revive the entity for the Second Great War. In Jun's case, the Inner Shadow has manifested the The Devil's Eyes. Through the Hachi, Jun is granted the blessing of sight, foresight, senses, and limited omnipotence as a result of manifesting the God of Archery. In addition to the amplified sight provided by the Akuma Grade Dogma, Jun's creations also receive a tremendous boost in power due to being amplified by Hachi, in particular those that fire projectiles in response to the nature of the Archery God.
- Level 1 Hachi Stage Five - Infinite Penance: By focusing his attention on a target, Jun can force the servitude of his target as long as Jun is the stronger opposition. By activating Infinite Penance, Jun can completely bypass any psychological, magical, and even narrative-based barrier that his targets can use to try to resist his demands.
- Level 1 Hachi Stage Five - Reality Cannon: By combining both the Hachi and his Nth Dimensional Transcendence, Jun can blast holes into reality itself, nullifying and destroying the order of the world similar to Aran's Apokolereos but at a more precise and targeted manner. Reality Cannon relies on Jun's ability to transcend his mind to a higher state of existence beyond the limits of three-dimensional space while also retaining his self-awareness, then utilizing his Transcended Weaponry alongside Hachi to unleash a destructive attack that "zeroes" material at a lower dimension.
- Level 1 Hachi Stage Five - Absolute Zero Tensor: An even more destructive variant of Reality Cannon, which involves completely nullifying elements in all dimensions under Jun's current dimensional frame of reference. Named after the mathematical "zero element", the Absolute Zero Tensor operates in a similar way by applying a "zeroing" operation, essentially erasing everything in existence. Though extreme, Jun has at times resorted to the Absolute Zero Tensor to take down opponents who possess the ability to transcend frames of narrative which cannot normally be defeated by conventional means.
- Level 2 Amplification: Jun's second Dogma allows him to enhance existing Dogma abilities. This second Level allows Jun to bestow power or aid in the development of his subordinates, as shown when Jun amplified the formation of new neural networks in Aaron's mind to speed up the Outer Shadow's development in his Continuous Casting spell variant. Jun has yet to fully demonstrate the true capabilities of his Level 2 Dogma, however, it is implied that the Inner Shadow has used Amplification before as evidenced by his numerous attempts to try to build an existence capable of handling the Omega Upgrade in his cyberspace.
Relationships
Jun is widely respected, feared, and renowned for his immense intellect, power, and strength as an Inner Shadow to the Black Legion Organization. This level of fame extends even amongst his colleagues, to the point where even Great Demon Lord Loyce Hal deemed Jun to be so much of a threat that the Demon King dispatched the Anti-Narrative Generating Primordial Demon, Aran Sol to attempt to bring Jun out of the picture as soon as possible. Fellow Inner Shadows considered Jun's skillset to be so potent that the Inner Shadow became the Black Legion's trusted tactician.
Outer Shadows
"Jun's faction was almost like a little happy family of Shadows, in a way. We had a bond that was similar to a company of employees if the company wasn't plagued by capitalism, hierarchy ladders, bullshit ass kissing for promotions/raises, etc."
- Aaron Hope
Jun greatly values his subordinate Outer Shadows, and the converse is also true; every single subordinate of Jun loves their master and has shown great devotion to Jun. Jun's love for his subordinates is somewhat familial and is considered to be somewhat unusual amongst the ranks of the Black Legion. Aaron describes the bond that he and his colleagues share with their master to be like a "little happy family of Shadows".
Jun also implemented a system that is unique to his faction, known as "Gasket Goodies" which is a point-based system to reward his Outer Shadows for completing missions. Accumulating enough points allows Jun to grant any request within reason for his subordinates.
Aaron Hope
"Whenever I was with Master Jun...
Everything felt like it was going to be okay.
To have a benefactor who was so powerful, and so willing to help make me strong.
We created so many things together."
- Aaron Hope in "No More Jokes from the Joker", Beyond the Gods
Aaron is the first Outer Shadow that Jun had recruited. According to Aaron, if it hadn't been for Jun's help, he would never have reached SS Rank, showing the degree of respect the Black Legion's strongest Outer Shadow had for his Master.
Jun first met Aaron upon saving him from the God of Hope after the God-Eater was incapable of avenging the death of his girlfriend. Jun would recruit Aaron by giving him a chance to bring vengeance to the gods who tormented him, providing the Outer Shadow with an avenue to further develop his skillset as a gunman by aiding in the Outer Shadow's development of new and novel weaponry.
The bond that Aaron and Jun have can be described as an older brother and younger brother relationship, though the roles seem to change frequently. At times, Aaron would act like the older sibling, berating Jun for his childishness and ridiculousness. However, the converse is also true, when Jun provides Aaron with advice and wisdom. In "Beyond the Gods", Aaron nearly succumbs to despair after losing his fiancee. Desperate to cling onto his sanity, the Outer Shadow subconsciously recalled an earlier memory of Jun recruiting him, and it would be through Jun's words of reassurance that provided Aaron with the strength to march forward and make his way to Trion against all odds.
When Aaron learned of Jun's apparent defeat to Aran Sol, the Outer Shadow trusted in Jun's abilities, believing his Master to still be alive and thus kept his composure despite being attacked by both Loyce and Vala. However, after Loyce began to ridicule Jun for losing against his Outer Shadow, Aaron noticeably became on edge, even aggressively lashing out at the Demon Lord and defending his Master in spite of the overwhelming gap in power.
Tokiko Marin
Jun: Toki, did you break another katana?
Tokiko: I most certainly did not! It broke itself.
Jun: And just how did it break itself, exactly?
Tokiko: I broke it while beating up Inner Shadow Bishamonten for Aaron!
Jun: You literally just admitted to breaking it!
- Jun expressing frustration at Tokiko's stupidity
Tokiko is considered one of the fastest Outer Shadows in the Black Legion Organization. Jun greatly values his subordinate Shadow, but at times expresses frustration at his subordinate's lack of general intelligence, thus rarely dispatches her on missions. Despite this, Jun still cares about Tokiko, even allowing the Outer Shadow to store her favorite cookies in the Outer Shadow pantry, and at times even fixes the katanas that she breaks in secret without telling her mother Toyotama the Goddess of the Sea to avoid Tokiko from getting in trouble. However, after the battle against Bishamonten, Jun became so fed up with Tokiko's habit of breaking her katana that the Inner Shadow informed the Goddess of her daughter's katana, causing Tokiko to run out of the throneroom crying.
When Tokiko learned of Jun's apparent defeat to Aran, the Outer Shadow was shown to be visibly distressed and worried to the point where she lost her composure and was put comatose by Matthew Lam.
Auxiliary Shadows
Bryce Jackson Jones
Bryce: Also, respect for being a man of culture. If I had technomancy, I would have made myself a Sigurd too.
Jun: He gets me! He really gets me!
- Bryce and Jun in "Re: Avara", He Kills Gods as a Man
Bryce joined the Black Legion after requesting to become Aaron's subordinate Auxiliary Shadow. Despite Aaron's reluctance to Bryce joining for what he perceived as a way to stroke his ego, Jun saw past Bryce's psychological barrier and recognized the American's desire to reinvent himself for the better.
Bryce is especially fond of Jun as, like Bryce, Jun is also African in ethnicity due to his Nigerian heritage. However, Jun is at times put off by Bryce's exaggerated stereotypical African American personality; despite this, Jun recognized that this was due to Bryce's insecurity of being biracial, and thus not only tolerated the Auxiliary Shadow's personality but at times played along, allowing Bryce to call Jun his "brother".
Saraia "Sarah" Ultear
"Foolish god. You will NEVER be in Jun's league. Before you even THINK about taking him on, why don't you try taking ME down first?"
- Sarah defends Jun's honor against Jekyll
Sarah originally joined the Black Legion on the condition that Jun would supply the Hero of the Cursed Sword with an unlimited supply of donuts, something the Inner Shadow found hilarious. However, it is shown that the bond between Ultear and Gasket runs far deeper when Sarah becomes so enraged upon hearing Jekyll's threat to Jun's honor that the Hero challenges the God of Warfare to try to take her down.
Sarah greatly respects Jun as her commanding Inner Shadow, even agreeing to be put on the sidelines throughout the events of "He Kills Gods as a Man" to act as Queen Avarice's bodyguard despite her resentment for Aaron's treatment of her. When news of Jun's defeat at the hands of Aran reached Ultear, the Auxiliary Shadow was greatly distressed and became even more defensive of her Inner Shadow's reputation, violently lashing out against anyone who spoke ill of Jun.
