Kagewoe is an irregular who prefers to get up close and slash, viewing his magic merely as supplementary to his melee combat. There are many rumors and stories regarding his activities, ranging from being murdered by his allies only to return as a vengeful artifact to taking down metahumans considered far more powerful than himself. Each story more fanciful than the last, so telling fact from fiction is difficult, if there is any truth to these tales.</p>

<p>Kagewoe is somewhat friendly, though distant upon being approached. He warms up to the people around him after some time, but always keeps them at arm's length until he seems to believe they don't pose an immediate threat to his person or those around him. He's hesitant to make his own views known, feeling that his opinions don't matter and count for little unless specifically asked. For this reason, he keeps quiet on his own views, most of his comments not adding anything to a conversation. Despite his quiet but friendly behavior, many things about his behavior appear off to those around him. Haunted by his history, he's unable to shake off all of the shackles his past placed on him. At an associate's request, he to Canada to retrieve information from a recently downed sattelite and from Telios's compound. <p>The mercenary was approached by Until with a request to participate in Operation Demonflame. Initially he slammed the door in their faces, but eventually agreed after they offered him a piece of technology that had just left testing phases. Upon agreeing he met up with the group that was assigned to the mission and proceeded to enter the portal. Upon arrival on the other side the group split up, Kagewoe immediately heading for the libary of the Queen Beyond the Pale, leaving the others to their fates without a second thought.</p>

Five years later, he surfaced again in Millenium City as a 'hired hero' affiliated with a certain private company, under the alias Mirage and clad in a black armor. Rumors say that the company found the black reaper and gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. In the time period that he had vanished for, his personality became even more warped. The young man, while never the picture of friendliness to begin with in part due to his surroundings, seemed to have been stripped of any emotion, showing little if any, and had ceased speaking entirely. It was later revealed that the rumors were true, and that all the units that had worked for the company had been brainwashed and kept contained like criminals when not earning the company profits, their newest black reaper being no exception to this. However, an incident occurred in which all the units were released and given their freedom back, with the resulting mess ruining the company and ending with imprisonment of the entire board of directors. While nobody knows for sure who it was that toppled the company, Kagewoe, just like all the other victims, owed them his life and future.

<p><b>Regeneration -</b> Kagewoe has heavily modified his body with cybernetics to increase his regeneration. While the circuits inside him were crippled for a while after being overloaded with energy, he has set them to run by draining the energy he absorbs from his meta ability and his dark magic in emergency situations. The circuits also have an emergency fail-safe, which forces him to regenerate fast enough that he can survive almost anything short of obliteration, though the extreme drain slows him down afterwards.</p>

This Is Not The End - He's almost always relaxed and doesn't care what those around him think of him, but follows along as things occur. He goes with the flow, drifting where the current takes him instead of caring about the flow itself.


Appearance

Kagewoe is thin in appearance, but under the thin frame lies a body of pure muscle. His olive eyes are typically hidden behind sunglasses, His clothing is normally loose to allow for flexibility, and he tends to prefer to cover his arms and legs completely so there's little skin exposed, resulting in an appearance that seems slightly larger than his actual frame at times. His naturally white hair has blue highlights which streak down the front part of it, and the hair is typically left unkept and hangs loosely down the side of his head.


Personality

Kagewoe is somewhat friendly, though distant upon being approached. He warms up to the people around him after some time, but always keeps them at arm's length until he seems to believe they don't pose an immediate threat to his person or those around him. He's hesitant to make his own views known, feeling that his opinions don't matter and count for little unless specifically asked. For this reason, he keeps quiet on his own views, most of his comments not adding anything to a conversation. Despite his quiet but friendly behavior, many things about his behavior appear off to those around him. He'll always keep his back to a wall if standing in a location for an extended period, and sometimes will check behind him, as if someone may be watching. Haunted by his history, he's unable to shake off all of the shackles his past placed on him. His laugh and smile always seem a tad empty, as if he were incapable of feeling the very emotions he displays to others, or is hesitant to show actual emotion to anyone around him. Despite this, he will urge those he cares about to do things to further their own goals or to do things that would benefit them, even if they themselves are hesitant. Beneath the quiet exterior, though, there's an empty soul who has given up on his dreams and the future, and lives from one moment to the next.


History

Raised in the battlefield, his earliest memory of his childhood was not that of games or family, but of slitting a man's throat with a shard of glass after knocking him down, and the snow turning red as the blood from the man's neck flowed out. This young boy grew up amidst violence, quickly learning the art of killing from what he saw. He was soon scouted for the local militia, and agreed to their offer in order to feed himself, for the bloodied streets made for poor pickings for an urchin. This group did not keep their promise, instead making him fend for himself as he joined in their campaign, and keeping him at arm's length no matter the situation at hand. Treated like a monster by friend and foe alike, Kagewoe quickly adapted to each environment that he was ordered to go to, and helped slaughtered the enemies his group faced. After the war ended in his country, he vanished without a trace, leaving behind a bloody legacy that both his enemies and allies feared.

Five years later, he surfaced again in Millenium City as a 'hired hero' affiliated with a certain private company, under the alias Mirage and clad in a black armor. Rumors say that the company found the black reaper and gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. In the time period that he had vanished for, his personality became even more warped. The young man, while never the picture of friendliness to begin with in part due to his surroundings, seemed to have been stripped of any emotion, showing little if any, and had ceased speaking entirely. It was later revealed that the rumors were true, and that all the units that had worked for the company had been brainwashed and kept contained like criminals when not earning the company profits, their newest black reaper being no exception to this. However, an incident occurred in which all the units were released and given their freedom back, with the resulting mess ruining the company and ending with imprisonment of the entire board of directors. While nobody knows for sure who it was that toppled the company, Kagewoe, just like all the other victims, owed them his life and future.

At present date, he still has the armor that the company had outfitted him in, but no longer answers to any particular company. Still utilizing the name the company gave him, CH-HT06-MIRAGE, or Mirage, the man now acts as a free agent, doing what he can to scrape money together to survive without having to give up his freedom again.


Current

Currently, he acts as a freelance mercenary under the name Mirage while hiding his identity. He can be seen wandering around the city aimlessly, taking in the sights anew now that he is no longer a puppet forced to fight. Instead, he uses the skills he gained to line his own pockets when not trying to understand the city and its residents.
