Melodalia, nicknamed Melody, is an honest-to-God Greek Dryad. Once having been Human, she has forgotten quite a lot of her old life, and has lived as a Dryad for extraordinarily longer than she had been Human. Few, if anyone, knows what she looked like as a Human, but her appearance as a Dryad is every bit of what is typically described in legends. Melody is generally considered to be breathtakingly beautiful as far as her humanoid half is concerned, standing as a wide-curved, buxom young woman carrying long, Elfin ears, typically dressed rather revealing in a bikini made of large flower petals. Much of her garments, or body parts, truly, seem to carry some thematic or connection to nature, and she is seen with delicate vines around her wrists, or deliciously-smelling flowers growing from places where they shouldn’t grow from, such as the side of her head. Her eyes are a deep, bright violet, with slit-like pupils. Where it concerns her humanoid half, it is hard to find any flaws. Everything, ranging from her appearance, to her voice and her smell, seems to be magically designed to form an immensely attractive figure.

However, as beautiful as the flytrap can be, it is still a flytrap. Upon looking at her lower body, one will find that Melody’s lower half is a large, incredibly heavy amalgamation of wide leaves, vines, tentacles and all sorts of unusual flora, with a puddle of pleasant-smelling nectar seeming to separate her humanoid body from her plant one. It is noted that her legs are actually bound to her lower body, meaning she cannot walk out of her lower mass. The Dryad has a melodic-like voice, an excellent scent of flowers and nectar that often tend to allure those nearby, and a number of healthy fruits growing from some of her plant parts. Those fruits, easily removable if she wishes, can be used either to feed herself or to feed others, and have been noted to be magically blessed with unusual traits, making them not only a very enjoyable treat but also carrying a number of odd effects to them. When moving around, Melodalia is notably slow, generally dragging herself on her tentacles little by little, at the pace of an oversized snail. She can however use her Earth magic to transport herself to a different location when necessary, meaning she does not always need to walk to get where she needs to be.

As far as her personality is concerned, Melody is largely considered an anti-hero, in a sense. Considered by many to be immoral, this would be something of a mistake, as Melody is simply amoral – lacking on much in the way of morals and concepts such as honor or sympathy. Her mentality is largely built around the concept of “eat or be eaten”, and while she is not aggressive, unpleasant or ill-intended, those who try to hurt her are generally considered by her to simply be offering themselves as a meal, one she will more than gladly devour without an ounce of pain in her heart. The individuals she faces, generally villains, monsters and such, serve as a convenient and easy target for her indulgences, and her reasoning for normally acting against them is because they are generally threatening her “gardens” (any area where she might inhabit of be fond of), attacking her, or generally contributing to nothing to nature, and so the least they can do is be used as fertilizer. Despite that amoral view of the world, she is by no means unfriendly or uncaring, as some part of her heart is still Human and can often feel those old feelings nag at her conscience. A woman of sensuality, indulgence and considerable playfulness, it is fairly easy to find oneself enamored with the woman, and she is generally open to taking such partners for a flirt or two, and generally refrains from actually hurting them even if anything is to happen. Her mannerisms are generally delicate, feminine and sensual, as if much of the purpose in her life is to simply attract another curious fly towards her nectar.

Fond of the modern, Human world, she considers it to be something of a large, entertaining garden for her, especially in the last decades where the ascending number of magical beings and metahumans in society has made it somewhat easier for her to walk around without someone calling the police. While she does not always conform to societal views, laws and customs, she is still willing to meet half-way in order to avoid trouble, and her reason to generally refrain from outright breaking laws comes from not liking the notion of ending up imprisoned or having to deal with other heroes. Despite definitely an old, magical being, she’s not against technology, and is even noted to have her own Smartphone.

Once known as “Melodalia of Scione”, Melody was born in the Ancient Greece, in the city of Scione. She lived a rather unremarkable life, a young girl with dreams and curiosities, and who simply wished to grow up to find a nice husband and perhaps see the world, if allowed to. Have a nice family, a house, and such dreams that young people usually have. While even herself doesn’t entirely remember how exactly it happened, one night she found herself fleeing from home, having been pressed into a decision that she did not wish to accept. Wandering into a nearby forest, she ended up lost, and accidentally wandering into a Dryad’s lair. Confronted by the Dryad, she tried to flee, but by running deeper into the forest she simply ended up transitioning to the Fae Realm without realizing. Once there, she found herself hungry and thirsty, but luckily she stumbled upon a nearby lake. Little did she know that the lake was also part of the Dryad’s lair, and its waters were enchanted. Upon drinking it, she found herself drawn back to the Dryad, and after falling into her lure, the young Human was never heard of again.

The person who eventually emerged from the forest was no longer Human. It had become a Dryad on her own right, having changed after falling into the other one’s graces. Not that she necessarily complained. Little by little, Melody became used to her new form, slowly learning the new powers from the one who transformed her, and eventually setting out on her own. A curious woman by nature, she wandered into the Fae, into Earth, and into many places just for the sake of satisfying her curiosity, and visiting the different natures of such places. She wandered for quite a while, going into her own adventures, meeting people, finding herself tangled in schemes and matters in the Fae realm, but overall managing to survive well. In the last few decades, Melody ended up finding a Human who had accidentally wandered into the Fae, and it was from them that she heard of all the changes in the Human world. How the metahumans were far more common now, and how even a creature like her would likely be able to walk around without too many issues. Inserted in a modern, evolved Earth, Melodalia took her time reading books, learning again about humanity and all that had changed in the time she had been absent from it, even to the point of finding herself curious enough to observe the new technologies and changes.

Nowadays, she mostly spends her time visiting Millennium City, a place that seems fairly odd and attracts all sorts of unusual folks. In a way, it appeases to her curiosity, and it always seems like an enjoyable location. Sometimes she even does a bit of hero work, though rumors say that the villains she defeats end up meeting fates worse than death to pay for the lives they took. They are not often heard of again once decides to put an end to their ill-doings.

As a Dryad, and an old one at that, Melody has a number of skills related to life and nature. The most obvious of them comes in the form of her unusual, plant-like body. That body provides her with an incredible amount of endurance and durability, and her regeneration can be a rather astounding factor, especially if she has sunlight and water at her disposal. Her body, both upper and lower halves, is magically enhanced and seems to be abnormally strong despite appearances. Her tentacles and vines are incredibly strong, and can be used both to lift as well as constrict targets, while the many plant-like appendages in her body can do a myriad of unusual effects. Poisonous fumes, alluring nectars and deadly seeds are but a small part of her arsenal, and despite her very little mobility, she can make herself very versatile in combat. Her powers are noted to grow much stronger if she has fertile land close to her, as well as both water and light. On the other hand, she tends to have less to work with if she’s fighting in a genuine concrete jungle and with no light at her disposal. When it comes to things such as her fume clouds, nectars, fruits and seeds, they can range from highly poisonous to beneficial ones or outright magical ones. This, combined with her ability to manipulate Earth close to her surroundings as well as Water makes her into a very fearsome foe when angered. Lastly, Melody can store up excess sunlight to use it as a temporary boost to her abilities when necessary. One notable thing is that Melody has been defeated a few times before, but for some reason she seems to be able to return to life. It is unknown how she manages to “revive” herself, but the process seems to take a few days, typically.
