Local Vibora Bay superhero "Maiden Midnight" is relatively new to the crime fighting scene. A quiet and introspective wanderer, Maven Miles moved to the Queen City in search of herself. What she found was nothing short of otherworldly.

Though physically human, Courtney Miles manifested on Earth as a result of a temporal anomaly. A newborn in the body of a sixteen year old, she was found and raised by the High Apostolic Church of Vibora Bay. Under their care, she was given education and spiritual guidance, forming a connection to the metaphysical as she quickly took to their unique doctrine. Through her studies, she learned of her unusual status as a living portal to the void, an endless expanse that connects to all realms. Utilizing the arts of thaumaturgy, theurgy and voodoo, Courtney learned to control the cosmic energies of the void, manifesting it's power as a paint-like darkness.

The sheer amount of magical energy blanketing the town awoke a sleeping power within her. Suddenly able to control the dark energies of the Void, Maven found herself haphazardly thrust into the battle between good and evil. Though inexperienced and lacking confidence at times, Maven is open minded and willing to learn what it takes to be a "superhero".

Maven is a quiet individual who tends to keep to herself when not on the field. She's slow to open up to others, and isn't very trusting of those who act overly nice. She also doesn't seem to care for romantic interactions, tending to shrug off any advancements from both genders. Despite her poor social skills, she always tries to be respectful of those she communicates with.

In battle, Midnight is calm and focused on the situation at hand. Having a history of being a pacifist, she prefers not to resort to violence immediately, trying to talk down her opponents when possible. Despite this, Maven is no fool and always keeps her guard up in case diplomacy fails.

Physically, Maven fits the "ginger" description pretty well. Pale skin, rusty red hair and freckles all over her face and body. Her build is mostly average, if not somewhat athletic given her time wandering from place to place.

On the field, Maven is usually seen wearing a simple minidress with tights and extra long gloves, all covered in various mystical scrolls and runes.

Since moving to Millennium City, she has started wearing a more elaborate, elegant set of tights with a long, slitted waist cape in the back. On her arms and boots are magically-infused armored gauntlets that allow her to summon protective barriers and grant her the ability to fly. On her head she wears a decorative circlet given to her as a gift by the famous Champion, Witchcraft. It sports engraved scrolls and a magic jewel in the center that clears the mind and emboldens the spirit. Above her breasts sits a pair of long, wavy attachments that seem to be made of pure dark energy.

When not in combat, Maven wears clothing popular in the "goth" scene. Baggy pants, heavy leather boots (Sometimes black sneakers), spiked bracelets and black makeup. She also sports a pair of prescription glasses to help her see. (She wears contacts during combat.)

In the current day, Courtney has developed a reputation for heroism among the people of Vibora. Known as the ebon witch, Maiden Midnight, she uses her magical powers to combat otherworldly threats. As her abilities grow, so too does her presence within the Sephiroth, attracting the attention of the greater mystic world. Entities both benign and malevolent seek her power for their own purposes, believing control of the void means dominion over reality. Despite all of this, Courtney remains dedicated to the protection of her home, the queen city.

Midnight has a natural ability to open portals to a realm known as The Void. Able to harness the dark energies that linger in this realm, she can weaponize them to subdue and strike fear into her enemies. Despite not knowing how or why she is able to do this, she has a level of control over these forces that would make a seasoned mage blush.

Beyond her innate talents, Midnight has delved into the shadowy world of magic, learning spells that protect her and enhance her powers. Her favorite spell, the Crashing Incantation, can pierce even the toughest armors, giving her an opening to strike her enemies where it hurts.
