BACKGROUND:

Maria never knew her biological parents. On 3rd of March 1993 she was found as an infant by a pair of spelunkers in one of the caverns in upstate New York. Despite of being found in the deepest corner of the cave, with no diapers or food, baby seemed to be well cared and in good health.
A couple who found Maria, Jack Holmes and his boyfriend Ted, took the baby to safety and eventually adopted her as their daughter.
Maria had fairly average childhood. Her powers emerged early, as soon as she started talking and waking, but it never ended with being out of control and dangerous. If anything, Maria's control over her geokinesis also was suprisingly good.
Likewise, no dramatic moment pushed Maria into becoming a hero. It was more a thing of her loving family who taught her to always strive for good and her innate kindness what put her on this patch of life.

POWERS:

Maria is a geokinetic. Nothing is known about the source of her powers - she's not a mutant, nor an alien. Her molecular structure was examined and seems to be completely normal, likewise she has no magical abilities. In theory, she shouldn't have any powers.
In practice, however, Maria can at will manipulate earth and rock objects, or create them. She even can turn her entire body into a living rock or sand, or can levitate on rocks by lifting them underneath herself. What makes it more interesting, she displays an ability to communicate with creatures like earth elementals and even to control the weaker ones.
