− | Wayward superhero "Wildfire" is relatively new to the superheroic community. Once a lowly thug on the streets of Westside, Reilly Overbeck was uplifted from petty criminal to crimefighter with help from legendary Champion, Defender. Under his mentorship, Wildfire grew to become a symbol of hope for the downtrodden of Westside, and continues to watch over the neighborhood to this very day. With her sharp tongue and attitude, Wildfire is known to the people as the "Wild Child of Westside", and is very popular with the youth and down-on-their-luck civilians forced to wander the mean streets of Millennium City's underbelly. Fearlessly facing down crime and villainy with grit and sarcastic humor, Wildfire has inspired many in her brief time as a superhero to take back the streets and show evil it cannot win.

− | Since birth, Reilly Overbeck was a troubled child. As a demon reincarnate, Reilly was gifted with the ability to summon mystical flames from the Netherworld. Straight from the womb, her powers manifested in an explosion which killed her mother and the doctors that brought her into the world. Her father, distraught from the loss of his wife, left to raise a superpowered monster alone, was a broken man. Unable to cope, he became an alcoholic, leaving Reilly to fend for herself while he spent his days at the bar. What little of a childhood she had she spent reading comics, dreaming of one day becoming something great.

− | Inspired by the fantastic adventures of The Champions, and other superpowered crimefighters, Reilly honed her abilities and put them to use to defend herself from the dangers of the big city. Her fighting skills and fiery powers attracted the attention of the local gangs, and before she knew it, Reilly unfortunately found herself dragged into the gang life, becoming a petty thief instead. For several years she lived a life of crime, taking whatever she needed by force, making a name for herself among the seedy back alley community. A lost soul swallowed up by the mean streets of Westside, Reilly was surely doomed to a terrible fate, if not for a chance encounter with her childhood hero.

− | === Troublemaker Turned Hero ===

− | | + | |
− | After a failed raid on Harmon Labs, Reilly was left abandoned by her fellow gangsters, forced to face the responding Defender alone. Scared, but unwilling to back down, she charged head first, and the two briefly fought. The resulting battle left the lab in shambles, slowly burning up around them. Before they could finish their fight, the ceiling collapsed on the two, leaving them trapped under rubble. As the fire continued to spread, Reilly pulled herself out, ready to make a break for it, when she discovered her adversary unconscious and in trouble. Suddenly struck with the guilt of her actions, Reilly sprang into action and pulled Defender from the rubble into safety, saving his life.

− | After the event, Reilly willingly turned herself into custody, prepared to face the consequences of her actions. Set to be transferred to Superpowered mega-prison Stronghold, Reilly was spared by none other than Defender, who negotiated a lighter sentence on her behalf. Impressed by her selfless act and prowess in combat, Defender took Reilly under his wing to teach her how to fight crime instead of commit it. Despite the circumstances, Reilly was happy to turn her life around and become the hero she dreamed of being.

− | 8 months of juvenile detention and community service in the form of superheroic training with Defender, and Reilly became a new person. From lowly street rat to protector of the people, Reilly Overbeck took her first step into the superheroic community as the fearless caped crusader, "Wildfire".

− | == Appearance ==
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | Somewhat of a "late bloomer", Reilly is rather short and slender, (a fact she's slightly sensitive about.) with long fiery hair and piercing green eyes. Early in her career, she maintained a scrappy, tomboyish appearance, only recently getting in touch with her feminine side as she grows into adulthood.
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | Preferring function over form, Reilly's costume is simple, yet versatile, with armored shoulder pads and bracers accenting her fireproof black and orange spandex jumpsuit. Wrapped around her bare arms are mystical tattoos imprinted on her at birth, no doubt a remnant of her past life as a demonic entity. When under intense stress or pain, these tattoos glow a fiery orange color.

− | | + | |
− | == Personality ==
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | Throughout her childhood and early teen years, Reilly was short tempered and vain, using her emotions to fuel her incredible power. Under Defender's training, she learned to control her anger and emotion, taking on a more carefree, casual nature.
| + | |
− | | + | |
− | Prone to taunting her enemies and cracking jokes in the heat of battle, Wildfire is often mistaken for an amateur, unwilling to take anything seriously. This couldn't be farther from the truth, as Reilly has learned to use the egos of her enemies against them, breaking away their concentration and leaving them vulnerable due to their own blind rage.

While Reilly was trained by Defender to be a selfless protector, her Multifarian counterpart was mentored in the dark arts by Shadow Destroyer as his secret apprentice. Though Destroyer himself no longer maintains a presence in the foul backwards dimension, Incandescent and the Conquerors continue to carry out his will in New Harmon. Born with the ability to expel radioactive energy in the form of intense heat, Riley has only recently begun to use her powers for more than personal gain. Despite having a less-than-stellar reputation with the people of Millennium City, she's started to gain a deal of respect among the superhero community for being there when it counts. Even the famous hero, Defender, has begun to see potential in the wayward firebrand. |
