Scythe was a popular superhero during the 1990's. He was known primarily for a dark, gothic persona. He was one of an upcropping of darker-themed heroes that emerged in the late 80's and early 90's. He was once on the cover of Vanity Fair. He briefly married [[Jade Phoenix]] and fathered [[Nick Phoenix]]. His powers came from mutation and were primarily related to wind manipulation.<br><br>

Scythe suffered chronic pain from injuries sustained during his career and became addicted to painkillers as a result. He died from a heart attack in his home in Seattle in 2006. It is believed to have been caused by an overdose. He was 46 years old.
