Elizabeth Báthory was born on a family estate in Nyírbátor, Hungary on 7 August 1560, and spent her childhood at Ecsed Castle. Her father was George Báthory of the Ecsed branch of the family, brother of Andrew Bonaventura Báthory, who had been Voivod of Transylvania, while her mother was Anna Báthory (1539–1570), daughter of Stephen Báthory of Somlyó, another Voivod of Transylvania, was of the Somlyó branch. Through her mother, Elizabeth was the niece of Stefan Báthory, King of Poland.

Elizabeth was engaged to Ferenc Nádasdy, in what was probably a political arrangement within the circles of the aristocracy. The couple married on 8 May 1575, in the little palace of Varannó. There were approximately 4,500 guests at the wedding. Elizabeth moved to Nádasdy Castle in Sárvár and spent much time on her own, while her husband studied in Vienna.
Nádasdy’s wedding gift to Báthory was his home, Csejte Castle, situated in the Little Carpathians near Trenčín, together with the Čachtice country house and 17 adjacent villages. The castle itself was surrounded by a village and agricultural lands, bordered by outcrops of the Little Carpathians. In 1602, Nádasdy finally bought the castle from Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor, so that it became a private property of the family.

In 1578, Nádasdy became the chief commander of Hungarian troops, leading them to war against the Ottomans. With her husband away at war, Elizabeth Báthory managed business affairs and the estates. That role usually included providing for the Hungarian and Slovak peasants, even medical care.

During the height of the Long War (1593–1606), she was charged with the defense of her husband's estates, which lay on the route to Vienna. The threat was significant, for the village of Čachtice had previously been plundered by the Ottomans while Sárvár, located near the border that divided Royal Hungary and Ottoman occupied Hungary, was in even greater danger.

She was an educated woman who could read and write in four languages. There were several instances where she intervened on behalf of destitute women, including a woman whose husband was captured by the Turks and a woman whose daughter was raped and impregnated.

In 1585, Elizabeth gave birth to a daughter, Anna. A second daughter, Ursula, and her first son, Andrew, both died at an early age. After this, Elizabeth had three more children, Katherine (born in 1594), Paul (born around 1597) and Miklós. All of her children were cared for by governesses as Elizabeth had been.

Elizabeth's husband died in 1604 at the age of 47, reportedly due to an injury sustained in battle. The couple had been married for 29 years.

Between 1602 and 1604, Lutheran minister István Magyari complained about atrocities both publicly and with the court in Vienna, after rumors had spread.

The Hungarian authorities took some time to respond to Magyari's complaints. Finally, in 1610, King Matthias assigned György Thurzo, the Palatine of Hungary, to investigate. Thurzo ordered two notaries to collect evidence in March 1610. Even before obtaining the results, Thurzó debated further proceedings with Elizabeth's son Paul and two of her sons-in-law. A trial and execution would have caused a public scandal and disgraced a noble and influential family (which at the time ruled Transylvania), and Elizabeth's considerable property would have been seized by the crown.

Thurzo, along with Paul and her two sons-in-law, originally planned for Elizabeth to be spirited away to a nunnery, but as accounts of her murder of the daughters of lesser nobility spread, it was agreed that Elizabeth Báthory should be kept under strict house arrest, but that further punishment should be avoided. It was also determined that Matthias would not have to repay his large debt to her, for which he lacked sufficient funds.

Thurzó went to Csejte (Čachtice) Castle on 30 December 1610 and arrested Báthory and four of her servants, who were accused of being her accomplices. Thurzó's men reportedly found one girl dead and one dying. They reported that another woman was found wounded, others locked up.

While the countess was put under house arrest (and remained so from that point on), King Matthias requested that Elizabeth be sentenced to death. However, Thurzo successfully convinced the King that such an act would negatively affect the nobility. Hence, a trial was postponed indefinitely. Thurzo's motivation for such an intervention is debated by scholars.

The countess' associates however were brought to court. A trial was held on 7 January 1611 at Bicse, presided over by Royal Supreme Court judge Theodosious Syrmiensis de Szulo and 20 associate judges. Bathory herself did not appear at the trial.

The defendants at that trial were Dorothea Szentes, Ilona Jó, Katarína Benická, and János Újváry ("Ibis" or Fitzko).

Dorothea, Ilona Jó and Ficko were found guilty and put to death on the spot. Dorothea and Ilona had their fingers ripped off their hands with hot pokers before they were burned at the stake, while Fitzko, who was deemed less guilty, was beheaded before being consigned to the flames. A public scaffold was erected near the castle to show the public that justice had been done. Katarína Benická was sentenced to life imprisonment, as she only acted under the domination and bullying by the other women, as implied by recorded testimony.

During the trial of her primary servants, Báthory had been placed under house arrest in a walled up set of rooms. She remained there for four years, until her death.

King Matthias had urged Thurzo to bring her to court and two notaries were sent to collect further evidence, but in the end no court proceedings against her were ever commenced.

On 21 August 1614, Elizabeth Báthory was found dead in her castle. Since there were several plates of food untouched, her actual date of death is unknown. She was buried in the church of Csejte, but due to the villagers' uproar over having "The Tigress of Csejte" buried in their cemetery, her body was moved to her birth home at Ecsed, where it is interred at the Báthory family crypt.

After that things became unclear to official records. But a woman with her name was incarcerated in a secured wing in Rhode Islands. She was a witch and a vampire. Several strong mystical seals where needed to keep her de-powered and in place. The Great Break-out destroyed those seals though... and the blood countess was free again.

Elizabeth started building her court up using a huge mansion in a local disputed Isle group. Among her first members where the cryogenic scientist [[Ice Cry]] (who later was reborn, after his demise during a mission) and the demon [http://union.virtueverse.net/wiki/Incantator_Draconis Incantator Draconis]. And it wasn't long before The Court of the Blood Countess became known among the isles as a safe haven for all things that would go 'bump' in the night.

Elizabeth threw herself back into her 'work'. She formed a huge amount of solid alliances. Making sure the court has tentacles everywhere across the Rogue Isles. Recruited many new members into her 'Court'.

She also started to indulge herself again in high society. Something she was used to from her days in Europe. For this she created the guise of Comtesse [[Eliza Thábyro]], a wealthy French party animal. And a real favorite to any gossip writer. As 'the comtesse' the gained some connections in the big City itself. Using her [[Black Scrying Crystal]] to travel too and from at will. Whenever the hero activity became too grand in their search of the undead... or when her own exploits where in danger of drawing attention upon her, she always pulled her activity conveniently away from the City. Just to come back when the danger had passed.

Although she does everything to keep her protectees safe from harm outside the castle, there are a lot of dangers out there still. Plans are constantly made to keep the Court members safe from the likes as the Hyenas, and only recently the Nighthunters. Groups of dedicated 'specialized' monsterhunters.

Elizabeth influences the human race at high level though. Being part of the World-wide vampiric council that goes by the name of the Council of X, and having her claws in the business of the League of Righteous Destroyers and the Midnight Illuminati. Her spies are everywhere... from the streets of New York City, the woods around Boston to the ranks of Organised Crime.

Elizabeth was connected to the Hungarian throne while alive. As such she made a large network of insiders when she traveled the world after she became a [[vampire]]. Several criminal organizations and so-called vampire lords still think she is a controlling part, even though she is not... and follows her own agenda. Her own agenda involving her own court and servants called 'the Court of the Blood Countess'. After several alien invasions she got involved in Earthbound security too as she detested the aliens on who's blood she couldn't survive.

Elizabeth utilizes several living and dead people as her personal servants. And although the living have their uses... it is the dead ones who are the most loyal to her. These old adversaries, lovers and servants her necromancy gave life to are worth mentioning here in their own right. The vampire-witch usually summons the same.

During her time imprisoned within the walls of her castle Elizabeth had heard about this dark sorcerer that was told to be even more powerful then she was said to be. The guards where eager to let her known that he too was captured in his hideout deep withing the Carpathian mountains. But as he didn't had the luxury of being protected by noble blood the sorcerer named Vladimir was killed on the spot. His throat slit and his body cast into a deep pit that was then filled with mud and filth.

Escaping her country of birth she traveled to the Carpathians to seek out this sorcerer... and indeed she found him. Her magic brought him back to life as her servant... and in some spells even her teacher. As his own dark sorcery was strong enough to keep his mind intact even after death.

Vladimir has a host of dark spells he can perform. And if ever he had any feelings towards other humans those feelings where removed upon his death. Only his loyalty to the countess remains. Do not underestimate this walking corpse... his power is terrible indeed.

She own an enchanted demonic amulet made of black crystal called the [[Amulet of the Dark Lords]]. A number of stolen/gathered magic weapons or by Court scientist created weapons like a freeze ray and her [[Black Scrying Crystal|Black Scrying Crystals]].

While alive Elizabeth was educated as a young noble woman should. At early youth she learned horseback riding, archery, to work the dagger and a little swordplay. Aside from that she learned to cook and to weave too. But the person to make her actually do that hasn't survived yet.

Especially the Szabla she trained for ages after-wards. These East-European sabers are what her father and her husband had used in the war against the Ottomans, and it is the one weapon she was ever interested in learning. Eventually she became specialized in double-wielding them.

She is schooled in Latin, German and Greek and was interested in science and astronomy.

The blood countess is highly intelligent and schooled in war strategics. Over the ages her language skills where enriched with about a dozen European languages. She also knows how to handle herself between royalty and while traveling the world. She was at the courts of Venice and Versailles without any suspicion to her real identity.

Elizabeth makes most use of an enchanted demonic amulet made of black crystal called the [[Amulet of the Dark Lords]]. It is what she was wearing when she first summoned the Blade Prince who infused it with energies, making the amulet a conduct to the powers of his masters. 

The past 400+ years she has gathered a large library of mystic texts she calls upon often while using her witchcraft. She also posses a number of mystical artifact and potions to help her out... but doesn't always carry those on her person. Most used of those are her [[Black Scrying Crystal|Black Scrying Crystals]] who are enchanted to show her visions from afar. In larger rough versions they can even transport a body to the shown image.

Recently the dying [[Council of X|Tai-Wei]] send the ancient [[The Blood Orb|Blood Orb]] to the care of Elizabeth. It is unsure why he choice her from all members of the [[Council of X]]. Most likely it was her ability to manipulate magic. She would be able to control the powers behind it.

The court (mad) scientists often come up with new weapons to use and once in a while she can't resist trying one out in case it turns out to be a new way to torture her victims. In the past she had hold of Alien weapons, Freeze-rays and the likes.

Against popular believe... Elizabeth is not vulnerable to sunlight. While the years pass the vampire grows stronger and Elizabeth learned to withstand the light... but it's not her natural surroundings and she will be much weaker then. Even going so far as to casually wear sunglasses to protect her eyes.

Aside of that she hates the smell of garlic, and her flesh will burn upon touching any hallowed or holy symbol from what is considered a 'good' god. Mirrors will shatter upon her visage too.

Crossing her or forcing her hand... or worse... betraying her might outrage her beyond words. Which usually ends up with someone tortured or dead! At the same time she is incredibly vain. Her looks fainted while she was alive... making her use magic and her blood baths to try and regain her youth. Finally becoming a vampire made her look like a woman somewhere between 27-32 again, but that didn't take away her fear of aging. 

She is also very cruel and masochistic, having invented some of the most horrible torturing ways personally during her lifetime and beyond... and having used them often before draining her victim for the blood she needed for the baths. There are few people she could remember ever loving... and even those she would be able to sacrifice if it meant saving herself. Even thus... she needs someone around to share her own beauty with. To make her feel beautiful. As such she always searching for a lover or companion. And if that one is within his or her right mind he/she would never trust her.

Elizabeth sees the whole world as her personal hunting grounds. And most people she keeps alive as nothing more then servants. but being hunted and needing to relocate constantly annoys her immensely. As such she is now trying to make a network of familiars across the mayor players in Millenium City. To become the power behind the power and to make sure she has free game moving around without the chance of being attacked.

As such she is the Mastermind, in control of many of whom you might not suspect; Caretaker, of her Court of murderous and often psychotic creatures; and Warrior, fierce and fast.

The Blood countess is a hard to reach woman, but she has ears and eyes all around the Millenium City. If you ask around there is a good chance she will hear about it... and get in touch with you!
